New video of gas-rationing protests in Iran shows demonstrators in the nighttime streets of Tehran amid fires and a chanting crowd. One man’s voice can be heard repeating in a happily surprised manner to his friend, “It is a demonstration. It is a demonstration.” Ardeshir Arian’s coverage of the protests for PJM can be found here.

Winston:Regime’s days are numbered
Jun 27, 2007 - 5:37 pm alan:Yes, but what is the number? A few dozen or a few thousand?
Jun 27, 2007 - 7:45 pm Winston:perhaps a few months
Jun 28, 2007 - 1:33 am Alireza:Hi
Jun 28, 2007 - 7:19 am DohXs:I’m an Iranian who is in Italy. I’m right with Winston’s opinion. This regime will be change very soon. There is a reverse timer for going them.
Alireza, I would gladly suffer the rise is gas prices to see a few of their oil drilling installations destroyed, if it meant a revolution and freedom in Iran.
Jun 28, 2007 - 3:42 pm Saul Wall:Alireza,
I hope you are right. A real democracy in Iran that respects its neighbors and its own minorities would be a massive change for the better for the entire region and beyond. I also hope that enough of the regime’s monsters and thugs see the writing on the wall and don’t try to go down committing atrocities to the last. We really need to learn as a global civilization how to undo these tyrants and their power base more efficiently. Having to wait for political forces to turn against them in their meager means is infuriatingly slow. Meanwhile, the people of Cuba, Burma, North Korea et al wait and live in fear.
