Personally, I was ashamed to be Israeli, when I found out that some idiot yeshiva student was disgusting and immoral enough to pull Barack Obama’s note out of the wall and leak it to the press. In protest, I haven’t even gone to the Ma’ariv web site or any of the wire stories to read its contents. I don’t want to know.
I’m glad the rabbis condemned it.
Apparently, the move was a first – many celebrities and dignitaries visit the Wall, put their notes in…this is the first time any of them has been taken out and published.
The guy who did it had the world’s most shameless comeback when the Hebrew papers asked he can consider himself a religious person, and yet be immoral enough pull someone’s prayer out of the Wall and sell it to the highest bidding tabloid.
Know what he said? “I didn’t have a problem with it because I knew God had already read the note.”
