Ann:

What is THIS? Testing Schwarzeneger’s sense of humor?

Dec 23, 2006 - 1:45 pm Bill Bradley:

Just testing New Year’s material in the NWN environment. I’m not sure whose sense of humor this might test.

Dec 23, 2006 - 1:53 pm Jonas Blane:

Hysterical, he’s almost as funny as the real Schwarzenegger!

Dec 31, 2006 - 7:10 am Ann:

Funny, funny, you changed the headline.

Dec 31, 2006 - 8:20 am Capitol Boy:

Where are the crutches?

Dec 31, 2006 - 9:02 am Bill Bradley:

The crutches were digitally edited out of the video in deference to the governor’s wishes.

Dec 31, 2006 - 9:42 am Bill Bradley:

On the changed headline from the test run last week, I actually spend a fair amount of time fiddling with headlines and captions.

Dec 31, 2006 - 9:43 am Ann:

Why aren’t you reporting on the Assembly democratic primary in Fresno? lol

Dec 31, 2006 - 10:00 am Bill Bradley:

Where’s that?

Dec 31, 2006 - 10:06 am carole w:

I know I am off the subject here BUT, I watched THIS WEEK on ABC this morning. I saw a really good interview with Edwards and his wife. I am seeing a different Edwards from last time around. I paid attention to Barbara’s points of view. I do like Mrs. Edwards because she is solid and I can tell she is a great mother and wife with strong opinions. One opinion I agree with is her stance on Gay marriage. I agree with her supporting gay marriage. I think all children should have the right to parents that are married in the eyes of God. It is a parental right as well as a child’s right to be culturally accepted in society. Mr Edwards clearly stumbled on the Gay marriage issue. He quoted his Southern Baptist roots and clearly is in conflict over this issue. I feel Edwards of 2006 is improved over Edwards 2004 but, has a very slim chance of beating Clinton. I am not going to compare the last Governors race were the Moderate wiped the Progressive off the face of the map but, times are changing and our leaders need to adapt.

Dec 31, 2006 - 10:14 am carole w:

…Happy New Years Everyone…be safe:)

Dec 31, 2006 - 10:16 am Bill Bradley:

I’m sorry, Carole, but your comments are not on the topic of Arnold’s super-fantastic musical.

Dec 31, 2006 - 10:34 am carole w:

Ehhh that tongue is scary and a sex scene …blaa!

Dec 31, 2006 - 10:45 am Bill Bradley:

Kidding aside … Gay marriage is an idea whose time has not quite arrived.

Dec 31, 2006 - 11:00 am carole w:

I don’t have any objection obviously to any one getting married. I have a couple of friends that are the best parents and they are the same sex. It just doesn’t matter to me and I would fight for them becasue they are wonderful.

Back to Vegas: What are we going to see in the new year, plot wise. If I can make a request, I would like to see Caan driving a Cigar boat doing the Lake Mead scene. Can you make it happen?

Dec 31, 2006 - 11:45 am kandaharkid:

He snorts more than Arnold Schwarzenegger does.

Dec 31, 2006 - 12:40 pm Bill Bradley:

Actually, his watch could be more masculine.

OK, something about Las Vegas the TV show? Can I make James Caan drive a “cigar” boat — I think you mean cigarette boat — on Lake Mead? That’s easy. No.

Dec 31, 2006 - 12:59 pm Capitol Boy:

I bet Schwarzenegger’s house is bigger, too.

Dec 31, 2006 - 2:01 pm Ann:

3000 American soldiers killed as of today in Iraq. I get the feeling that the guerillas wanted that number for the new year. I also get the feeling that Saddam was executed so fast to distract from the 3000 deaths number.

Dec 31, 2006 - 2:07 pm Bill Bradley:

Sigh.

I’m trying to stay focused on a holiday spirit. But events are conspiring against that.

Dec 31, 2006 - 2:16 pm Paul Burton:

A horrible end to a horrific year: “3,000 American soldiers killed as of today in Iraq.” And many more maimed, disabled. Another 50,000 to 600,000 Iraqi civilians killed. Bush still in denial, when he should be facing impeachment. Billions wasted on an imperial misadventure while refugees starve in Darfur.

Is there hope for peace and justice while the Bush cabal continues to get away with high crimes and misdemeanors?

Do stay focused on the holiday spirit as 2007 has to be better than 2006.

Dec 31, 2006 - 4:09 pm jillian:

Bill I love this video it’s riotous…what a great thing for New Year’s Eve…just fun things nothing serious…but was Rob Lowe supposed to play the Jason Alexander role? I’m still surprised Rob won’t be there…I remember him at the recall party election night and he is so shy….Happy New Year’s Eve to all

Dec 31, 2006 - 5:56 pm sergei:

Iraq is embarasment for USA. You have Schwsarzenegger at least.

Dec 31, 2006 - 7:14 pm Bill Bradley:

Oh my God, I think Brett Favre is just retiring now!

“I feel like I could still play.”

“This would be a great way to go out.”

He just ripped the Chicago Bears in the last NFL game of the regular season, crying on camera.

Dec 31, 2006 - 8:17 pm sadhana:

3,000 and counting. bush does not believe in peace and justice. he believes in chaos and conflict. he believes that you and I and all people{ except for his elite group} are insignificant and our life is only worthy to fufill his selfish, greedy causes. time to wake up people.Everyone knows in their deepest heart that bush doesnot care the masses of humanity he truly does not believe in individual rights.and does not believe in the constitution. he is a dictator disguised as a leader of democracy.other wise new orleans and the gulf coast would be completely revitalized, seniors would not be concerned about their healthcare. no child in america would be going to bed without food, shelter and clothing.some of the duties he would have given DR after his SOD gig is to receive all of our troops who return home in a casket and to visit all of our injured troops.
on another note I read that AS is going to take “California to the nation.” Tell him {a}pretty woman democrat Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi has already taken California to the nation,{b} he is not easy on the eyes like she is.{c} stop stealing and trying to lay claim to our democratic thunder like he did the other democratic ideals/ideas. Senator Shelia Kuhel should be calling him out on this.it is not about bipartisanship/partisanship. it is about respecting, acknowledging and honoring those who were fighting this battle before he was on the scene and when he was vetoing. Now, he wants to make it seem like its the greatest need since cotton-candy and he is the creator.

Dec 31, 2006 - 8:32 pm Bill Bradley:

“Riotous.”

Yes, exactly.

… Oh, regards the Sheila Kuehl (DOBIE GILLIS FOREVER!) bill. There is no there there.

With apologies to Oakland.

There was no real substance to her “universal health care” bill.

And nobody cared when Schwarzenegger vetoed it following her teeny tiny rally (subject of an NWN video) threatening him that he had to sign it.

Happy New Year!

Dec 31, 2006 - 8:49 pm AthlonGuy:

Bill, not to be riotous here, but thanks for all your 2006 work. This is the best blog. This is so entertaining.

That Brett Favre crying interview was totally painful to watch. As he was crying, she asks, “What are your emotions right now?”

When is the Governor going to jump onto the San Diego California Chargers bandwagon! Oakland & SF know they sucked - no offense there. SD is going all the way, to win in Miami. LaDainian Tomlinson #21 is such fun to watch twist and turn out those extra yards, humiliating the enemy.

This KFI News Alert just in: Champagne corks cause many eye injuries. Be careful!

Dec 31, 2006 - 9:57 pm Sacramento Solon:

My friends,

Happy New Year. Hope that the coming year treats both NWN and all of you well. Fun being part of this community.

God Bless,

Sacramento Solon

Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and never brought to mind?
Should auld acquaintance be forgot
and days of auld lang syne?
For auld lang syne, my dear,
for auld lang syne,
we’ll take a cup of kindness yet,
for auld lang syne.

Dec 31, 2006 - 10:39 pm sadhana:

I cared.. and as long as Someone cares There is a There there. the there is that she presented the legislation and opened it up for consideration and discussion. there is no such thing as a teeny tiny rally. if only one person shows up that is significant, because that one person took the time to stand up for what they believe in and give of their time one’s most precious commodity.

Oh, yes the dobie gillis days. the fantasy where everyone cared about their neighbor and made sure they were okay. that was reality in my childhood.
I am not familiar with “the threatening” part but will review.”if valid I will e-mail the Senator’s office in retrospect “to remind her It is not appropriate to threaten little boys, they might
get all shook up.”

Dec 31, 2006 - 10:51 pm Bill Bradley:

Having chatted not long ago this evening with an old friend on an island off the coast of Florida or Texas or Georgia — of course, by cell phone, so she may actually have been in Karachi or Moscow or Fresno — it occurs that we are in a highly mutable era.

So wherever you may be, in whichever time zone you actually are, and in whatever frame of mind … Happy New Year!
