As far a the fight against Islamic Neanderthals, how do you suggest we stop Islamic Global Theocracy? It can not be stopped with Political Correctness (Political Cowardice) How do you as a liberal progressive suggest we stop honor killings, stoning of innocent people, the detonation of their own children in the name of Allah? How?

While a Martian takeover of the Planet Earth was not imminent, sources close to the president say that the plan was to slowly consolidate power. The Martian platform of reducing access to education, lowering wages and the quality of jobs, keeping healthcare too expensive for most Americans, and causing occasional political instability was part of the strategy to keep people ignorant, poor, and frightened. The Martian plan was to also abolish sex education to insure that there would be an ample supply of slaves when the time came to strike.

What the Martians didn’t bank on was the erosion of America’s place in the world. The U.S. would have little influence over the rest of the planet, although plans to install Martian leaders in China, Russia, and Brazil were also underway.

“I can’t believe we missed the signs that this was happening,” said a disbelieving Senator McConnell. I knew there was something uncanny and strange about him, but I thought it was a Texas thing.” Secretary Rice echoed McConnell, although she claims the RNC should have seen the signs. “W did have that thing where you could see what looked like another set of eyelids. He kept flashing them at people during long meetings as a sort of a prank. He thought it was funny, but it just creeped everyone out.” Congressman Boehner also noted a strange encounter with Bush during protracted confirmation hearings for one of the appellate court judges. Boehner interrupted him when he appeared to be praying. “I thought he was praying for the troops, but he was clutching a half-eaten rodent in his hand. He acted like he had just found it, but it looked like he had entrails between his teeth. I blocked it out of my mind and hadn’t remembered it until now.”

Democrats are saying this is proof that the Republican party has been infiltrated by aliens and cite the recent endorsement of Senator John McCain by the Roswell Daily Record as proof. “Where does Vice President Cheney go?” asked Speaker Pelosi referring to the fact that he seems to disappear for weeks at a stretch. She noted that a full investigation would soon be underway.

The promise is to return 3% + inflation, which seems paltry to me.

Also, not sure of the timing of your house sale (you mentioned selling it for retirement earlier), but I expect there will be a lot of boomers’ inventory on the market in coming years — not sure where the demand will come from if our economy continues to slide — so that might also put a damper on prices. Maybe there’s a way to time that. Anyone have a crystal ball?

And then there are cap gains, which I believe would go up under a McCain or Obama administration. That will impact your house sale, unless its your first home then you’re clear $250k (I think).

p.s. I’m not looking for Obama to save me, just buy me some time til I retire and go back to my house which I will hopefully still own and which is NOT in CA. Oh yeah, I’ve also got that 401K…PFFFFT…

Pink, did you just say your house is your retirement fund? And from the litany of other concerns, I assume you have no 3 or 6 month cushion in the bank.

And if you live on the West Coast, I assume you have high taxes (you mentioned $5/gas, but links tell me that the highest avg prices today are $2.78 … still). Man. That’s the problem with living on the Left Coast. The prices forced me to leave — and I’ve lived in NYC, ATL, DC, Bay Area — all too high. Doesn’t seem the time for Obama’s tax plan — $250K to live in WVA is quite different than $250K to live in CA.

That sucks.

Obama will not save you. You need to get a financial advisor that can pro bono give straight-up advice and set you on the right path so that by retirement you’re okay. No one wants to live on handouts. And that’s all the fed will give you — in today’s scenario and O’s scenario. I love the Lightbulb Press books. They’ve helped me a lot.

29 states are projected to have budget shortfalls in 2009. Gov Paterson of NY acknowledged on NPR that NY was already overspending before the economic crisis. If most state revenues come from businesses, how is your plan to increase business taxes not at odds with states’ efforts to generate more revenues?
