Barack Obama’s War on Black America

African-Americans will pay a price for voting Obama.

October 17, 2008 - by Andrew Walden
Page 1 of 2  Next ->

Polls show most African-American voters will be casting their ballots for Barack Obama on November 4. The first opportunity to elect a black person as president is tempting. But black Americans will be paying a price, and Obama’s record gives a clear indication of what that price will be. Obama and his cronies have a long record of profiting from funds intended to aid black people. The intended beneficiaries have nothing to show for it other than Obama’s political ascent.

The Boston Globe on June 27 exposed the thousands of so-called affordable housing units built cheaply in Chicago by developers backed by Illinois and federal tax subsidies championed by Barack Obama. Sewage flows through many units; others are burned out with roofs caving in. Due to neglect by owners tied to the Obama campaign, many have been slated for demolition.

Dual U.S.-Syrian citizen Tony Rezko — an early-money fundraiser who bundled as much as $200,000 for Obama’s campaigns — rehabbed hundreds of “affordable” housing units in and around Obama’s State Senate district and then refused to manage them. Rezko is now facing sentencing on several federal felony counts of soliciting bribes, fraud, and money laundering. His units now face demolition.

Valerie Jarrett is a senior adviser to Obama’s presidential campaign and a member of his finance committee. Jarrett is also CEO of Habitat Co. — managers of two large Chicago affordable housing developments, including 504 units at Grove Parc in Obama’s district. Both properties have been seized by the federal government and are so run-down that they may face demolition. The Globe identifies four other developers tied to the Obama campaign who profited from state and federal subsidies and then allowed the rehabbed buildings to rapidly decay leaving residents to fend off mice and wade through sewage.

According to the Globe:

Some of the residents of Grove Parc say they are angry that Obama did not notice their plight. . . . Many of the tenants have been his constituents for more than a decade. “No one should have to live like this, and no one did anything about it,” said Cynthia Ashley, who has lived at Grove Parc since 1994. . . .

As a state senator, the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee coauthored an Illinois law creating a new pool of tax credits for developers. As a U.S. senator, he pressed for increased federal subsidies. And as a presidential candidate, he has campaigned on a promise to create an Affordable Housing Trust Fund that could give developers an estimated $500 million a year.

The six developers personally contributed over $175,000 to Obama’s various campaigns and bundled much more.

Rezko also stole affirmative action benefits. Arab American Media Services reports:

In 1997, Panda Express won the right to open a lucrative concession at O’Hare International Airport under the city’s minority set-aside program which directs large contracts to companies owned by women, African-Americans, or Hispanics. The city awarded a 10-year contract for O’Hare Airport to Crucial Inc. in 1999, which the city believed was owned by an African-American, Jabir Herbert Muhammad, the son of the late Elijah Mohammad.

Elijah Mohammad led the Nation of Islam until his death in 1975. Jabir Herbert Muhammad was sued in 1999 by boxer Muhammad Ali for unauthorized use of his name in connection with the Muhammad Ali Foundation. Rezko served as executive director of the foundation.

Well… to be sure. The Dems bring all the factions into the big tent. Solving their problems will let them back out. Can’t have any of that!

And the black leaders? They seem to live very well, indeed. Look at the tapes of the candidates’ speeches to the NAACP. The NAACP looks like an American version of the Soviet Congress: all well-dressed, well-coiffed, and overly-well fed. It’s Animal Farm.

How about abortion? 52% of abortions are black babies. More. Than. Half. That’ll keep the number of pickaninnies down, right? The Dems sure love the useful idiots.

But, they’re not done standing up for the blacks. Oh, no. The long entitlement culture, the generations of welfare, simply destroyed the idea of the black family. 90% of black children are born out of wedlock. Half don’t even know who their daddies are. Who needs primary family units when the Nanny-state will take care of you?

Blacks are simply less free since civil rights began… literally. Half of all black males will spend some time in the slammer. 1/3 are there now. They make great daddies, no? 40% of black females now will never marry. Imagine. They will never know the joy and security of a loving marriage, and security for their children. More, they get to see their kids grow up the same way!

But hey, their plight keeps them stirred up, and then the Dem leaders blame someone else (Pubs), and ensure their continued support. This is the same tactic used by tyrants the world over. Keep the people oppressed, and blame an outside enemy. Works every time.

Think I’m exaggerating? Look at the women. 60% of Dem delegates this year at the DNC were women, but they couldn’t get their woman on the ballot for VP. They do almost all the work. They man the phones and headquarters, they decorate, and bring food, and get out the vote… but the white men still have all the power. Can’t actually solve their problems, can they? That would let them out of the big tent.

Contrast that with the Pubs. They solve problems, and the problems go away… and people forget the problems existed. Iraq’s no longer an issue in this election. What happened to the high price of oil? Remember that? Who ended welfare dependence? Who fixed the economy after the dot.com bust? Remember terrorism? Um, no. Before the meltdown, only 4% of people had it on their radar anymore. Now? Terrorism? Wuzzat?

Oh, and who has a woman on the ticket?

Judging by your links, muckraking journalists are following the old tradition of exposing the slum lords, but I guess the editors, with the exception of the Wall Street Journal, are burying them. Thankfully, the hyperlink is undermining that editorial power. ^_~

Kind of hard to get through at 5 am, but an excellent condensed history of Barack Obama’s Chicago activities. If the US had a professional journalism industry, I bet they would have made a Monday night evening report exposing all that in a timeline fashion. Thanks for writing it.

WOW! When I point out the plight of the black Americans under the heel of Dems, who have so cruelly abused them, I’m called a racist. Being a Democrat is very hard these days. My own party hates me.

Never fear Oboma is here.

It is so obvious, but as Obama says, ” John has put a bunch of junk out there.”, to Barry the plight of the welfare state is a redistribution of wealth to his cohorts. The truth is just a bunch of junk.

The blacks are in for a rude awakening. Unfortunately they will not cast blame on the real culprit.

Never fear Obama is here.

This article and many others are reason enough to prove that the MSM are in the Tank for Obama. Another question should be asked, why are the republican’s in the Senate, and House, not screaming bloody murder during the Investigation’s into Bankergate right now.

McCain had an opportunity in the debate to show Chicago schools and their failure

I’d run an ad with visuals
chicago slum, rezko indited, obama campaign rewarded

11% sales tax (highest in the country)
failing housing
failing schools
do you want Obama’s policies to spread nationwide?

too bad Mccain fears the ‘race card’ too much to do this

who is running this campaign

Oct 17, 2008 - 5:56 am 9. M.P.:

More generally, if Obama becomes President, the black community will be front and center for better or worse. The social dysfunction of inner city, low income groups will no longer hide in the shadows. It will all be a reflection of Obama, his administration and the Congressional Black Caucus. While I am extremely nervous about power being given to these unethical, opportunistic groups under an Obama presidency, these groups will no longer be able to operate on the fringe where they do considerable damage under everyone’s nose. They will be watched more closely by a motivated opposition and, after all the petty, knee-jerk charges of ‘racism’ throughout the campaign, it word is now hollow and rendered meaningless. Shine a light, cockroaches scatter.

Oct 17, 2008 - 6:06 am 10. Bill:

I think any ad John McCain runs will be called racist so he should go all the way and run with your idea Tom.

Sadly, blacks have become the “Palestinian refugees” of America. People like Farrakhan, Sharpton, Maxine Waters and the liberal elite establishment have kept them down for over 40 years to further their own political goals. Wow, what a realization.

Oct 17, 2008 - 7:07 am 12. RE:

The Democrats has had 40 years of Great Society and trillions of dollars and after all that, the black community is in worse shape than ever.

American blacks fail to realize they have been used a political pawns by the Democrats – and most especially by their own black ‘leaders’ charlatans like Sharpton, Jackson, and Wright who play them for a bunch of chumps. One would think they’d get a clue after 40 years of watching non-English speaking minorities coming to America and outperforming them economically, academically, and in every other area of life within a generation, but no, they prefer to wallow in their own self-made cesspool of victim hood instead.

Reminds me of the widespread nexus of German business and politics under Hitler.

Or Europe business in general. Or Boss Tweed

As Howie Carr, Boston radio talk host says, “Doing well by doing good”. Only, Obama and company, are not doing good, they are making things worse. So, Howie should adjust his saying to, “Doing well by doing worse”.

“Dual U.S.-Syrian citizen Tony Rezko — an early-money fundraiser…”

You had to mention the guy’s syrian citizenship, right? Now call Debbie Schlussel and ask her to do a blog post on the guy (if she has not done so). She will surely tie the guy to Hizbullah and Iran. And then you will have successfully connected Obama to Hizbullah. Next, ask more right-wing bloggers write about this tie. Soon Foxnews will be talking about ‘alleged’ ties between Obama and Hizbullah and Sarah Palin will be happy to talk about “Obama being funded by Syria” in her rallies when your brethren shout “terrorist”. And that’s how the great american experience ended.

Oct 17, 2008 - 7:52 am 18. Sleepless in Chicago:

An Obama Presidency will be the most scrutinized in history. He would never be given the benefit of a doubt on weapons of mass destruction or a pass on an Iran Contra-scam or carte blanc on non bid Haliburtan contracts. He would not be allowed to operate like Bush and Cheney. We do not elect Kings in America. We elect Presidents. They have term limits. I was a deputy voter registrar in Chicago during the eighties when the election of an African-American Mayor was as remote as Obama being elected to the presidency. There was hysteria amoung whites who felt that they would be locked out of appointments and contracts and neglected in a Harold Wahington administration. Nothing was further from the truth. We learned to get along and govern together. Having grown up as a member of a minority group in America, I never had a majority rules mentality. I understood that power, the use and the fruits of it must be shared. Perhaps an O’bama victory will energize Republicans an keep groups such as evangelicals from being taken for granted next time. If he wins the sky will not fall. If he does a bad job, vote him out. All americans must participate vigorously in the electoral process and the government of our nation. Whatever happens, we will still be a constitutional democratic republic. The sun will come out tomorrow.

Barack Obama has done African-Americans a favor in opening the door to their becoming President. But he is not African-American, he is African (and by adoption, Indonesian). He is not an American citizen, and is therefore not eligible to serve as President of the US. When this comes out and he is disqualified, there will be great disappointment in the African-American community. But any violence will be among affluent and spoiled whites, not by African-Americans. For the documents on why Barack Obama is not a citizen, see the case of Berg v. Obama et al.,filed by Philip Berg in Federal Court in the Eastern District of Pennsylvania. The documents are posted on Phil Berg’s website, http://www.obamacrimes.com along with videos.

Black elites using the plight of their own as leverge to grab themselves more power and money. Hmm….puts you in mind of the “feminist” harpies who pretend to be working for “womens rights” when all they want is more power for themselves and to hell with women in general.

And the Democrat Party is the enabler for all these parasites. There must be a considerable brick-swallowing idiot quotient in that party. Still, if the voters want to give them the White House, Senate and Congress….well…….caveat emptor as they say.

Oct 17, 2008 - 8:59 am 23. Achillea:

“An Obama Presidency will be the most scrutinized in history.”

Highly unlikely, as his candidacy has been the /least/ scrutinized in history.

Oct 17, 2008 - 9:18 am 24. Roark:

Obama is also a member of the “Congressional Black Caucus” a blatantly racist organization of black Members of both the House and Senate. The only thing an Obama Presidency will do for blacks is to tell them to hate whitey and continue begging for hand-outs.

Sleepless in Chicago – “If he wins the sky will not fall. If he does a bad job, vote him out.”

Sleepless, did you read the article? If he does a bad job? Based on his track record, bad job is all he has done his entire community organizer career. Where are the people shouting his praises from the STREET on how Barack changed their life for the better? Where are the people that he supposedly got jobs for saying they would never have made it if it wasn’t for Barack Obama? Where are all the character references from his southside neighborhood that can’t wait to sing his praises because of his measurable, definable success and not just the color of his skin?

With the MSM in his back pocket for 2 years don’t you think we should have seen 50 or 60 “Joe the Plumbers” or “Delores the Waitress” or “Johnny the Iron Worker” or “Leticia the School Teacher” or someone, anyone who believes Barack Obama was the sole catalyst for helping them change their life and make the turn toward their goals and aspirations? Maybe they only recieved $1500 of the $150 million he dished out but it changed their life. Where are they Sleepless? The silence is deafening!

I spent 7 years as a Junior High and High School youth counselor Sleepless. My budget for the programs I ran totalled about $20,000 for ALL 7 YEARS! If I ran for President you wouldn’t be able to fit all the students (and their paretnts) in the video frame who would line up to say I (and my wife)changed their life forever… forever Sleepless. This is not great feat of mine. I was privileged to serve these young people. Teaching and mentoring them to be honest, caring, industrious young people changed me as much as it changed them. After 20 years many stay in touch with me and I with them.

In psychology there is a saying, “Behavior predicts, past behavior predicts future behavior.” Barack Obama’s behavior is very predictable. Look at who is friends are and look at his track record of decision making throughout his life and I can tell you how he will behave. We can predict what we will get from Barack Obama in the next 4 years… it will be what he has already given us. Now I don’t doubt that he can change, but change does not occur in the short term, only with long term effort. Individual change toward positive behavior and outcomes can only occur if the individual chooses different friends (environment) and they VOLUNTARILY relinquish their self-centered belief system while making a continual honest assessment of their decisions.

P.S. I teach this “behavior technology” to business and corporations who want to hire the best of the best employess. They say it is the most powerful human resources tool they have. I like Barack Obama. I’d like to have dinner with him. I would not hire him to be President of the United States of America because he does not have the behavioral skill set necessary to do the specific job functions. On-the-job training is not a viable option for this important position. No one I know would hire a CEO with the goal of letting them learn on the job.

Black Americans aren’t the only ones in for trouble if Obama and his leftist illuminati views make it to the White House. Everyone who isn’t looking for government handout and who takes responsibility for their own actions is going to get the short end of the stick.

Poll finds American reject redistribution of wealth as suggested by Barack Hussein Obama.

PRINCETON, NJ — When given a choice about how government should address the numerous economic difficulties facing today’s consumer, Americans overwhelmingly — by 84% to 13% — prefer that the government focus on improving overall economic conditions and the jobs situation in the United States as opposed to taking steps to distribute wealth more evenly among Americans.

Oct 17, 2008 - 3:19 pm 36. Sleepless in Chicago:

Cal Indie: I thank you for your reply. I truly appreciate your thoughtful and measured response. It touches my heart that you inspire young people. I left working in the active political process in the eighties. I now serve as youth Pastor at Eden Place Bible Fellowship in a racially mixed neighborhood in Chicago. Along with other Black evengelicals, I could not bring myself to vote for Al Gore. I punched for George Bush. I see nothing in John McCain to suggest he is a man of faith. I’ve watched clips of Sarah Palin’s rallies with hateful words [such as I haven't heard since the 60s] pouring from the crowd. What McCain repudiated she seemed to revel in. She said nothing. I know Jesus. Jesus is my friend. I don’t believe Mrs. Palin was following him. I’ve met the now retired Reverend Wright. I have visited his church. If you had heard one of his fiery sermons on self-help and determination, when he is exhorted his congregation to work hard, you’d want to recruit him for the GOP. We have a bigger sample of his work with which to evaluate him in Chicago. Finally, I was born in 1956. I saw Dr. King speak in person at Evanston IL. I remember the craziness of those times. I saw tanks rolling down the streets in my town. I saw soldiers with machine guns. I remember the weather underground. Maybe Barak Obama was sharp enough at eight years old to remember also, but I doubt he piloted a getaway bicycle for Bill Ayers. My congressman Bobby Rush is a former Black Panther from those times, who once defeated a challenge by Barak Obama for his seat. Life goes on and people grow. Bill Ayers is not a young militant Vietnam antiwar protester he’s a college professor at the University of Chicago. There is no statute of limitations on murder. If he killed someone, the U.S. attorney could charge him today. He was not found guilty. All charges against him were dropped by the Nixon administration. Were you even alive in the sixties. By the way I also remember the Savings and Loan Scandal. It was the FannieMae of its day. I must confess, I only recently learned of John Mccains involvement, his intimate friendship and working relationship with Charles Keating. All this when Keating was committing crimes for which he was found guilty and imprisoned. McCain was charged with no crime but was reprimanded for poor judgement. What I do remember from that time is ordinary innocent people losing their savings.
So we have two candidates, neither perfect. On the basis of guilt be association let’s call it a wash. On the Basis of the Vice Presidential running mate of the 72 year old cancer survivor :John McCain, I vote for Obama. Why John McCain didn’t pick one of the many more capable women in the GOP to lure some of Clinton’s support, I’ll never know. He used poor judgement Even Secretary Rice is brilliant. We better pray for whoever gets elected!

Oct 17, 2008 - 4:04 pm 37. marsouin:

It is absolutely amazing and depressing that over 40 years after the civil rights era, the vast majority of American blacks are enthusiastically voting for a man who marinated himself with all the race-baiting poverty pimps of Chicago. These are the same black leaders and policies most responsible for the hell of the urban American ghetto which has endured a one-hundred fold increase in crime against blacks since the late 60’s. How little we have progressed. For any Obama supporter, black or white, to complain about racism or the sad state of affairs (decades-long violence, rampant AIDS, poor educational achievement, etc.) of urban areas have absolutely no moral authority. Hypocrites to the core!

Oct 17, 2008 - 6:34 pm 38. CALIndie:

Sleepless in Chicago – Thank you for your measured and extremely specific essay on Chicago politics.

I’m curious, with all of your heartfelt beliefs and strong Chicago connections why would you vote for George W. Bush?

I didn’t see an answer to my question. Where are the people like you, who have rave reviews for Rev. Wright and Bobby Rush, standing up for Barack Obama? This is very troubling to me. I can only base my decision regarding Barack Obama’s character on what he has accomplished by helping people and not on what he says he will do at some point in the future.

On the basis of guilt by association you’re calling it a wash? John McCain was held responsible for his poor judgement before a senate ethics committee and he was found NOT GUILTY of ethics violations and cleared of any wrongdoing. Barack Obama is CURRENTLY surrounded by people of questionable character and motives who see America as the next great socialist frontier. Centalized government power does not build individual character. It steals initiative from talented and industrious people. Socialism replaces innovation and creativity in business with grant writing skills to gain unending entitlements paid for by someone elses hard work. My charity is freely and gladly given in time, talent and money to those who are hurting and in need. I don’t need the government to take 70 cents of every dollar for beauracracy and give 30 cents to the brokenhearted.

You and I are obviously cut from a different cloth regarding social and political philosophies. My family fought and died in every war in America since the American Revolution. My family was instumental in the Underground Railroad in Ohio helping slaves escape to Canada and flee the oppression of the Confederacy. My family has loved and supported people from all walks of life and all social standings to pray for them, minister to them and encourage their faith in Christ and the color of their skin has nothing to do with that love.

You may have no problem with Rev. Wright or Father Pfleger or Bill Ayers but my Bible doesn’t teach Black Liberation Theology or Marxism. My Bible teaches: Gal. 5:22-23 Love, Joy, Peace, Patience, Kindness, Goodness, Faithfulness, Gentleness and Self Control for all mankind, not just black people and not just white people. I have a problem with empowering people selectively by the color of their skin when all of mankind needs empowering in the love of Christ. In God’s eyes there is no color but love.

Sleepless in Chicago is wrong. Obama has been able to hide much of his life with the assistance of a media that goes after a plumber with great zeal. He will also be able to cover up any misdeeds if he’s president. You state that we can vote Obama out of office if he’s not a good president, however, you don’t mention that after he’s president, he and the Democrat House and Senate will ensure, with the help of Acorn, that no Republican will ever win again. Look at Chicago, we couldn’t even get Peraica elected, instead we got Stroger & family & friends and a sales tax of 10.25%. Sorry for my run on sentences, I was never taught better, I am a product of CPS.

God bless you and your family and God help us if Obama wins…

What a waste of space! A bunch of Reap whining because McCain has failed a mission to be president. But lets be honest, you didn’t expect this? Come on, no one was excited about him running during the primary. Anywho, Obama doesn’t have to be perfect, but he has to be better than the president we have now. And he will be.

Oct 17, 2008 - 11:32 pm 42. CALIndie:

Sleepless in Texas – Thanks for your kind words. I’ve recieved much more blessing than I’ve shared in my life. I’m concerned as well that so many people can be so easily persuaded to “hire” someone with so little specific ability for such an important job.

Sarah Palin lacks experience but she is eager to serve “common” people. I’ve seen a steady stream of common, everyday people on the news who can’t say enough good things about her character, honesty and work ethic. She has a remarkable 75%+ approval rating in Alaska. It is more than puzzling that there have been no common people from Barack’s past who will stand up for his character, honesty and integrity. It’s weird. Rev. Wright, Father Pfleger, Bill Ayers, Minister Farrakhan, Oprah Winfrey etc. are not common, everyday people. The absence of the common man from Barack’s list of public cheerleader’s is very odd for a supposedly successful community organizer. It’s odd and unsettling. It begs the question, what is he hiding?

I’ve watched and listened very carefully to what Barack Obama is saying, how he is saying it and more importantly what he is not saying. He is a master at verbal deception. This is not a personal attack on him. How dare you white racists say that Obama will hurt blacks. You aren’t black so you know nothing about black people and so can’t nothing about this. Black people as Rev. Wright and Farrakhan says, think different than white people and have different culture, so you can’t assume to think that all the stuff you mention is really bad to them.

Maybe they like it.

Oct 18, 2008 - 12:14 am 44. mac:

Can’t see why it will be a war on blacks. Looks to me like Obama’s likely to be the first affirmative action POTUS. He has no qualifications for the job other than the color of his skin and the fact that the MSM is so damned deep in the tank for him.

If he’s elected, all of America will get to experience what business America has has to tolerate for forty years: employees who can’t do the job but who have to be on the payroll because “diversity” is so overwhelmingly important.

Given that fact, here’s a question. If diversity is so good, how come the people who make everything and who are eating our lunch economically–Chinese, Koreans and Japanese–do so much better without the slightest trace of it? Could it be that maybe social cohesion trumps diversity? Judge the results and the answer is pretty clear. There aren’t any places in Korea or Japan I can’t safely go. I wish I could say that about the United States.

Oct 18, 2008 - 1:42 am 45. Jan:

OK, here’s another instance where Obama’s few legislative actions have had a questionable effect on the black community.

Since the legalization of abortion, 13 million black babies have been aborted in the US. The black population is around 39 million. Planned Parenthood clinics and other abortion facilities are preferentially located in low income often black communities. Obama favors any form of abortion at all, including some that are horrific and wants the government to pay for it.

The founder of Planned Parenthood, Margaret Sanger, was a proponent of eugenics.

The effect of having an abortion is pretty bad on the parent’s futures. Choosing to kill your own unborn child is a callous act and especially when many people would be thrilled to adopt the baby. Often young teenagers have abortions without really understanding the consequences and live with the guilt and regret the rest of their lives. The incidence of drug abuse and alcoholism is far higher, just to escape the guilt. Abortion may not be considered a crime any more but it is a crime against the community in many ways. Encouraging people to take responsibility for their actions and to care about other people is what makes a strong community and nation. That’s not what Obama sees as important.

Dear CALIndie:
My grandfather fought the Germans in World War 1 and was decorated by the French Army because segregated Black Army units were not thought worthy to serve and die with other Americans so they were assigned to the French Army. He fought to make the world safe for democracy but came home to the same old racist america. My Father was drafted to serve in the US Army durng World War 2 but his segregated artillery unit was left stateside because Blacks were not deemed smart enough to aim Long range artillery. I’m not mad. My mother went to visit him sitting on a trunk in a Jim Crow railway car at a time when even German POWs were transported like other Americans. You have never lived in the America that my family has known.
Your work with young people is commendable, I do my work with inner-city youth for free. I work nights at the Post Office and sleep when the kids are in school. I fund most of the work out of my own pocket. I receive no salary from my church. I wouldn’t take a handout from you. Neither I nor my parents before me have ever cashed a welfare check or spent a food stamp. My montra that “you can be anything you want to be in America if you work hard” can sometimes ring hollow to an African-American Kid. You see I never grew up believing I could be the Mayor of Chicago, much less the President of the United States. And I’ve never heard a black child express that desire until now.
Mnotaro your Black conservative friends are voting for Obama because the never though they would see this in life. We were shocked when he won the Iowa primary and Black people started to get on board. So forgive us if we got caught up in this audacity of hope. Should he win the Presidency I hope you judge him on his job performance. He’s already endured the slings and arrows of every conservative talk show and blog in the country. And about this redistribution of wealth mess, how about we raise taxes to pay our bills and quit being a deadbeat country with Japan, China and Saudi Arabia. If they ever called in our debt we would have an economic crises. We need a tax increses to get back to the budget surpluses we had when President Bush took office. Wars cost money my friends and lives. We cannot continue to wage optional wars on foreign debt. Yes we are taking a chance with Barak Obama as you are with John McCain. I am confident he would move thoughfully, pragmatically and efficiently to carefully carry out the duties of his office. I am sure he would do no worse than President Bush with whom none of you obviously has a problem. Thanks for the discourse. I must remember something from the Chicago Schools.

Oct 18, 2008 - 8:54 am 48. Change?:

Everyone is asking for change in Washington and the only one on the ballot that would be a change is the one people want to dismiss as a joke. Palin is the only new face in this election. Granted she may not have alot of international experience, but do you believe the president sits in the oval office alone making all foriegn and domestic decisions. If she did have to assume that role. It seems that because she was a beauty queen she cannot be taken seriously. Even woman seem to feel because she is attractive she can’t be intelligent.
There is nothing new about Obama. He is a politician who who pledged to run for president with public financing and not be influenced by contributions. When the time came he backed out. I guess money does talk. He said Rev. Wright was his spiritual advisor and he could no more disavow him than his own grandmother. A couple weeks later Wright gets the boot, publicly anyway. (poor grandma). So on and so. No change here, just politics as usual.
Joe Biden, Obama’s choice for VP. Now there is change we can believe in? Biden has been in Washington for 30 years. I thought that was what we wanted to change. He has been part of the problem, but now we are to believe he can fix it.
John McCain may not be perfect but he is not George Bush. And while he has been around politics for a while, at least he has shown that he will stand for what he believes is best. Even when his own party does not like his position, he sticks with it if he believes it’s best. And remember he even sacraficed his own freedom to do the honorable thing. He could have been released from that POW camp because of his family, but he would not leave without his fellow prisoners. His reward? After being tortured and beaten for years, now people mock the fact that he can’t raise his arms or stand or move quite like normal.
Can’t wait until Nov. 5th and this is all over.

Oct 18, 2008 - 9:31 am 49. Marc Malone:

Sleepless in Chicago – Tax increases will not reduce our deficit. They slow the economy, by removing capital. Tax cuts boost the economy by increasing capital. Also, we are not a deadbeat nation. A deadbeat doesn’t pay his debts. We do. We are in no danger of having others call in our loans, because we are the best investment they can find, and they know it.

To reduce our debt means simply reducing our spending. Twice during the debates, Obama was asked where he would reduce his spending, and neither time did he offer any real reductions, just more spending. I’m not interested in any tax hike, especially if the government is just going to spend it, instead of paying down the debt.

Finally, I’m not taking a chance with McCain. I know what I’m getting with him. He’s a known quantity. You ARE taking a chance with Obama. I’m voting for McCain as a vote against Obama. I’d rather have someone else, and I would vote third party, but Obama would be a disaster, so I must vote for McCain, as he’ll do less damage.

schnargley – Maybe they like it? We can’t know, because they’re a different race? Talk about a racist comment! Either they are the same as us, and we treat them equally; or they are different, and we should thus treat them differently. You can’t have it both ways. If they are truly different, then perhaps it would be okay to re-enslave them, hmm?

McCain says that education is the civil rights issue of our time. Obama took $150M intended for schools and gave it to a bunch of commies so they could all live well.

Hee. ANOTHER thoughtful Obama supporter heard from. We learn so much from them, don’t ya think? (Remind me again why my own comments need moderation?)

Well, Mr against all racists, (except for yourself), I would answer you this way: I don’t know if I’m smart enough to run a candy store, not having made the attempt. But in today’s business environment, (especially in Californiastan!), running a small business is surely alot harder than it looks to pinhead elitists who’ve never run a damn thing.

On that, perhaps we agree, but it’s hard to be sure what you really think. So I’ll retreat to what we all know beyond any shadow of a doubt:

Palin has run a small business. And a town. And a state. And done so very well.

Obama wouldn’t know executive experience if it slapped him in the face.

Obama knows corruption, political machinery, a plethora of anti-American freaks, stifling free speech with fascist thuggery, saying a heck of alot with really saying anything, and how to write a book, maybe with Bill Ayers help.

But running a candy store? Not so much.

Greed always looks at things differently. It amazing to me how these so-called conservative Christians try to make “spreading the wealth” sound like a dirty sentence by taking it out of context. All spreading the wealth means is the rich finally taking on their share of the tax burden which has far too long fallen on the middle class who have paid enough of their share of taxes for a lifetime. Thing is, these sad greedy people try to use the excuse that “someone is stealing their wealth or telling them who to give it to”. It was O.K. for George Bush, the # terrorist of them all who certainly had his hands in 911, whom Mcain “palls” around with to decide to use your hard-earned money to fund a fake war thats really all about keeping money in his and Middle East buddies pockets while sacrificing our brave young men and women to do so. The rich won’t even notice the money they will pay in extra taxes, won’t even make a dent in their account. Religious conservatives believe in saving unborn babies (though I guarantee you there are some who so until they say until one of their daughters gets raped or pops up with any unexpected pregnancy) but forget helping the poor. Sarah Palin and her husband can be a part of a party that wants to secede Alaska from the United States (you should hear the “terrorist” rhetoric of one of the members that surpassing anything that came out of Rev. Jerimiah’s mouth). On that note, blacks are proud of this country but you cannot deny that there have been times in the past and history that did not make us so proud. I’m sure that Cindy McCain has always been proud of this country as it has ALWAYS treated her and her kind as more than first class citizens. Take a look at a McCain rally versus an Obama rally and see the candidate which will truly bring us all together. Unfortunately, I know that’s not what you elitist, privileged, right-winged conservatives want as someone has to be less so you can be more. It certainly is time to “spread the wealth” as “trickle down” sure hasn’t worked.

Sleepless in Chicago – The Bible says forgiveness defeats the schemes of the devil (2Cor. 2:10-11). My family fought against the disgrace of human slavery in America. We sacrificed our lives and everything we worked for to help slaves seeking freedom and liberty in the Underground Railroad in Ohio.

I went to a predominately black Junior High School in Ohio and I was constantly discriminated against, spit upon, slapped, punched, kicked and antagonized by angry black young men. I don’t hate them for their ignorance and my life has been an example of love for all my brothers and sisters regardless of the color of their skin.

Blacks do not have a monopoly on discrimination and slavery either. Take for instance white Jews enlaved by the Egyptians for 400 years. Slavery and discrimination is a tool of Satan against all of mankind. I’m not black and I have not walked in your shoes. But you are not condemned to a life of misery either. America is the epitome of of Rom. 12:2 “… be transformed by the renewing of your mind,” America has persevered against evil and defeated it over and over again.

America has renewed her mind regarding slavery, human rights and Christian charity. As the saying goes, it is not where you start but where you finish. I could be wrong, but you seem angry Sleepless in Chicago. Anger is the byproduct of fear. Fear is the favorite tool of our adversary in the spiritual realm. You cant’ stand in faith an fear at the same time. Be strong and courageous (Josh. 1:6). Know that I’m praying for you and our country, the greatest country in the world.

Jer. 29:11 For I know the plans I have for you declares the Lord, plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future. This is God’s promise to all his children. The only color God sees is love!

If all they can find are whackos, the polls must be wrong.

Oct 18, 2008 - 10:11 pm 56. Rubicon:

One thing is certain. Blacks in America will pay a dear price if an Obama presidency fails. Behavior patterns will show that Americans will judge all blacks by the works of Obama in a presidency. If he is a failure, or corrupt, or is shown to be more interested in promoting special interest groups &/or special personages, rather than actually accomplishing anything, then he will fail as those privilege payments are exposed. And even though the media is showing a 60% to 80% favoritism when reporting on Obama, once he is in office they will not be able to sweep his actions under the rug as easily.
The shame is there are numerous other blacks in politics who could have better represented blacks. By pushing this socialist, blacks risk all. If they are wrong, as many suspect they are, the resulting fiasco’s will be unfairly
“associated” with all blacks. And that will make it even more difficult for blacks with actual capabilities, to attain higher offices for decades.
The issue is not a black in office. The issue is “which” black in office. Obama does not show us a capability to effectively manage w/o using the typical Chicago style tactics that many know are as corrupt as the day is long.
Bush – Cheney were associated with Haliburton & the oil industry. Obama – Biden (although Biden is the real joke candidate among all of them), will be associated with organizer groups & corrupt activist political connections that build substandard housing or conduct useless help the poor programs that gobble up money while producing mediocre results, at best, under the false pretense of helping those who need a helping hand.
Its a shame that all blacks will be judged by the performance of a man whose political leanings look more Marx than Democrat!
But even more ironic is that blacks with real capabilities, such as Justice Clarence Thomas, are vilified as Uncle Toms or Oreo’s, when in fact they are really capable & intelligent persons whose knowledge & leadership talents go rebuffed by “the community” because people like Thomas adhere to conservative principles, which in the liberal mindset makes him & others traitors to being black. Seems conservative blacks are not “black enough,” because they are not liberals. Its a pathetic logic that undermines who people are, regardless of skin color. Guys like Justice Thomas are judged by there political skin color & not by the content of their personal performance character.

Oct 18, 2008 - 11:09 pm 57. Rubicon:

Regarding spreading the wealth.

This nation was founded over 200 years ago.

How many times have the rich, especially those who now proudly stand up & say they should and can afford to pay more in taxes, sent a check into the Department of the Treasury, because they felt they should pay more?

Gates, Buffet, Soros (especially Soros), the Hollywood nut-jobs, the media elite, the academic elite, etc., have sent not penny one in addition to the taxes currently collected.

There have been NO barriers erected to stop these do-good idealists from sending in additional funds, yet none of them send in cent one in addition to the current tax burden they are responsible for. In fact, many of these very same folk, pay ridiculous sums of money to financial managers & auditors & accountants…. to find them each & every tax loophole, shelter, & deduction they can possibly concoct. They also lobby for special tax shelters to be legislated, so they can avoid paying taxes.

The “I can afford to pay more or the the rich should pay more, or the I think its right we pay more” crowd, are blowing hot air on this one. Their checkbooks have remained closed & come 2009, 2010, & every year thereafter, these same folks will be using each & every tax loophole of dodge they can find to avoid paying taxes. Look for huge sums of money from these very same folks, to be moving into banks in nations where their account balances are kept secret from the Internal Revenue Service.

In short….. its better to let those who have earned the money decide when, where, why, how, & even if, they will spread around their personal wealth. In most cases, once someone controls spending another’s money (that has been taken by force of law under the guise of doing good), ineptitude, corruption, fraud, mismanagement, & outright theft always becomes the typical result. For decades the United Nations has been responsible for helping the world’s poor. Their results are less than pathetic. In fact, their results are rife with the very same ineptitude, corruption, fraud, mismanagement, & outright theft have become the normal for the UN in numerous & multiple examples which they have successfully been able to obscure with a financial accounting that lacks any transparency at all.

So if the “rich” really think they should be paying more taxes, I suggest they begin right away & not wait for an Obama presidency. I will not hold my breath waiting for all of those large checks to start pouring into the treasury!

Oct 18, 2008 - 11:30 pm 58. Marc Malone:

Adrianne Powell – You really think the rich are not paying their fair share? The rich pay most of the taxes. Before the Bush tax cuts, the MMclass and the LMclass, paid 1/6. Now, almost none. The rich used to pay a lesser share before the evil Bush tax cuts. When will it be enough for you?

Yes, spreading the wealth around is an evil concept. It’s called stealing. Your money belongs to you, not the government. Sure, you pay taxes to provide the infrastructure of civilization from which we all benefit. However, using the tax code to take money from you to give to another is just armed robbery.

The Republicans have led this country for the last eight years. Real income in this country declined over these 8 years! That means Halliburton, Exxon and the CEO at Lehman made millions or billions while we got poorer. The housing bubble burst within full view of the Republican regulators and authorities and they didn’t check a single risky or outrageous act.

McCain’s policies mostly continue the major policy themes of the current Republican administration. He makes no significant distinction between hims plans and the current policies. How can that be reassuring?

As an independent voting for Obama, I find it ridiculous that a McCain supporter thinks I’m dumb or ignorant because I won’t listen to their inuendo about Ayers, or ACORN or Arab terrorists. Honestly when all you have left to make your case is vitriol and innuendo in your heart you know you’ve surrendered and I guess you’d hate yourself for it.

Several units saw action alongside French soldiers fighting against the Germans, and 171 African Americans were awarded the French Legion of Honor. In response to protests of discrimination and mistreatment from the black community, several hundred African American men received officers’ training in Des Moines, Iowa. By October 1917, over six hundred African Americans were commissioned as captains and first and second lieutenants.”

Blacks would still be slaves if Barack Obama had been around and in charge in the mid 1800’s. I can hear him now telling blacks not to complain about slavery; he’d just get them health care or something. If this were the 1960’s, blacks would still be sitting in the back of the bus if Obama had his way.

I think this is one reason why whites like Barack so much. He keeps the “trouble making” blacks, like Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton in line because “we don’t want to scare whitey.” When was the last time you even saw Barack Obama in a picture with anyone black…and let’s not even talk about his lily white campaign ads. He does everything he can to stay away from blacks…except, of course, when he wants to score points with whitey by lecturing blacks about being poor parents.

I just cannot understand how he sat there and let his children listen to Rev. Wright over and over and over. Maybe one time I could understand, but 20 years? No way. Add to that all of the other shady hatefilled people he has surrounded himself with and you have a seriously flawed human being. You can tell alot about a person by the company he keeps.

Most of the racist comments that I have endured in my life have been by black women, who are jealous and fearful of white women and by Moslems, who hate Jews. I know of no white persons who have ever made racist comments. As a Canadian, I am witness to the systematic and deliberate rape of European culture. Multiculturalism and diversity has been shoved down our throats by politicians who are catering to the immigrant vote. Whites are so afraid of being labeled as racists, that they will even go so far as to mock and deride their own race to prove their “enlightenment.” Fortunately, I am not one of those and have no problem calling a spade a spade. Obama is where he is BECAUSE of his race, not in spite of it. Blacks and guilty, white liberals need to wake up and realize this before the United States turns into the Socialist, multicultural cesspool that makes up your neighbours to the north.

I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat but a true Independent who believes in facts and really believes in learning the lessons of our history.

So here is a simple fact for America -
1) During Ronald Reagan’s Presidency of 2 terms, between 1981-1989, we were at our economic best in a quarter of a century. We made the right choice in these 8 years as a country.
2) During George H. W. Bush Sr.’s Presidency of 1 term, between 1989-1993, we were at our economic worst in a quarter of a century. We made a huge mistake as a country but corrected it by keeping him in office for only 1 term.
3) During Bill Clinton’s Presidency of 2 terms, between 1993-2001, we were again at our economic best in a quarter of a century, even better than Reagan’s era. We made the right choice again in these 8 years as a country, despite his personal scandals.
4) Now, during George W. Bush Jr.’s Presidency of 2 terms, between 2001-this coming January 20, 2009; we have been at our economic worst in a quarter of a century, even worst than Bush Sr.’s era. We really made a huge mistake as a country on this one by not realizing that the apple really doesn’t fall very far from the tree. Yet we chose this apple again the second time around.

Now, really let this simple fact sink in America and take your time to think carefully this time around about how you want the direction of this country to go.

We made history with Reagan. We then made a mistake with Bush Sr. but corrected history by allowing him to only serve 1 term. We then made history again with Clinton, despite his personal scandals. Now, we have made 2 mistakes with Bush Jr. by allowing him to serve not once, but twice. So my last question to America is, guess which candidate shares the interests of both, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr.? I will let America answer this one. We are much, much smarter as a country to want to make history rather than make mistakes and to suffer yet again from our own mistakes by not using objectivity as our first and foremost agenda.

What people don’t understand is why some of us are so against the current Republican ticket, but we have an obligation to fight against history of ever being repeated again. Many of us out here are not fighting for the Democratic campaign but are fighting against an ideology.

1) An ideology that completely mirrors the ideology of this past 8 years.
2) An ideology that recognizes the few while completely disregarding the masses.
3) An ideology that believes in taking military action against Iraq, an incident that is completely unrelated to 9/11, without solidifying our claims beforehand. In the present, we have found no evidence of weapons of mass destructions or a tie to Osama Bin Laden. The devastation of this war has cost us over 4,000 of our brave troops and counting, over 1/2 trillion dollars of taxpayer’s money and counting, and over 1 million Iraqi lives unrelated to the terrorists or insurgency.

Cost of the Iraq War — http://www.nationalpriorities.org/costofwar_home

4) An ideology that still believes that the Iraq War is the right war on terrorism when the Afghanistan War should had been the right war on terrorism, where Osama Bin Laden actually was until he slipped into the mountains and into Pakistan’s territory now. The Iraq War also diverted our attention away from the Afghanistan War. We now have extended our resources in two separate places and have heightened our risk to our troops, our expenses, and creating another dilemma that will take quite some time to finalize. The Iraq War will not go away overnight and it is now our obligation to see it all the way through for God knows how many more years. This has also been the most unpopular war in the eyes of the world’s communities.
5) An ideology that believes that we are at our safest state since 9/11, when a recent terrorist plot was still trying to enter Great Britain’s airports with liquid explosives heading directly to us, but thankfully the plot was foiled. While in Afghanistan, the terrorists are regrouping and strengthening and we have recently suffered another high casualty to our troops yet again within this past month. We currently have the least amount of alliances in the world’s communities due to this unpopular Iraq War. True national securities are the ties that bind us to our world’s communities and the ties that bind them to us.
6) An ideology that vetted one of the most inexperience VP ticket in history, from foreign policies to national defense. If God forbids that anything happens to this President if elected and is stricken with illness, this VP will be running the country. For a more compelling look at Sarah Palin’s VP readiness, please look at these links below —

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loUHRv3ipLE

http://www.salon.com/opinion/walsh/election_2008/2008/09/30/palin_gaffes/

7) An ideology that believes in “the fundamentals of our economy are strong” while we are facing the highest mortgage foreclosure crisis, high unemployment rate, and the largest collapse of our financial infrastructures since The Great Depression of 1929.

This is an ideology that many of us in America are against. Whether this ideology is in the Republican or Democratic ticket is not the main issue but the fact is that America does not want to fall into another 4 more years of devastation. We cannot afford this anymore.

President Bush despite the continuous sniping and backstabbing of Democrts kept you alive and safe. When Iran will have the bomb tghanks to Obama and use it you will fregret your vote.

Oct 21, 2008 - 12:35 pm 82. Change?:

Why is George Bush such a big deal in this election? He is not running. If you buy this “McCain votes with Bush 95% of the time”, so they are the same. Take the time to look at what McCain voted with and against him on. Obama voted with Bush just as much. Obama voted with Bush on several issues that McCain didn’t. Biden has been in Washington 30 years and is a big part of what is wrong in our government, but there he is running with Obama for change. I guess we really are a bunch of gullable fools.
Thank goodness for Sarah Palin. Someone new, oops that would be change, we don’t want that in reality just in campaign slogans.

BACK TO THE OBAMA BEING BLACK (WHITE)ISSUE. OBAMA IS TELLING PEOPLE WHAT THEY WANT TO HERE TO GET ELECTED. HE WILL NEVER SEE THE THREAT FROM ABROAD UNTIL IT’S TOO LATE. McCain HAS LOOKED THE DANGER IN THE EYE. HE KNOWES WHAT A THREAT IS AND HOW TO DEAL WITH IT.

Oct 25, 2008 - 7:02 pm 84. Mojo WIlkins:

For six years, Bush presided over the best economy of our lifetimes. 2002-2006 made the nineties look sick by comparison. The rich AND poor got richer. Everyone’s personal wealth grew by an average of nearly 9 percent, even adjusted for the nearly non-existent inflation.

Then the Democrats took over congress in January 2007. Since then, things have gone to pot. Barney Frank and Chris Dodd have collapsed our economy with their CRIMINALLY NEGLIGENT mis-oversight of Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae, which has in turn collapsed most of our financial system. These two men should be banned from congress and face criminal prosecution for the gross negligence they showed that has stolen thousands from almost every family in America. These two CRIMINALS should spend the rest of their worthless, wretched, incompetent lives in prison.
