Blog Week in Review: Bill Roggio on Iraq

Bill Roggio talks about the surge, security in Iraq, and holding our ground in Afghanistan with host Austin Bay in this week's podcast. Roggio says that even though "we lost a lot of ground" in 2006, "There's a very good chance of success for this plan." Bill is currently filing several reports a week on Iraq that can be found at the Weekly Standard. Produced by Ed Driscoll. Brought to you by Volvo USA.

Roggio’s daily reports provide timely information about the effectiveness of the Surge, which I’ve found nowhere else.

Just found out about Bill Roggio last night, and about your blog a few minutes ago. Good reporting, both. I like the way he helped out in getting the Snake Eater to the job. I like your podcast interview with him. The style was conversational and informative. The questions were relevant and direct; the answers were straight and responsive. More of that, please.

Also, it’s fine with me if the reporter wants us to win and lets it show. Too many moral eunuchs out there.

I want to know what our guys are doing TO the bad guys and FOR the local folks. A 58 year friend whose opinion I trust has a brother in the US military on the ground in Iraq. The friend recently said his brother said the kill-ratio is 16:1. I would rather know the score of the Afghani kids’ baseball game than how may died from IED’s.

Lastly, if you can, please post more photos. The happiest faces I see in the “news” are our soldiers. If we got behind the mission we’d win faster and with less casualties.

Thanks.
