Yep, Obama appears like one of the effete Euros. That’s why he’s so popular there. You can have him. As to the pejoratives, we hear the same from our effete liberals, too. They never like the strong, either.

You know which Brit we liked? We liked Thatcher, who dragged you Brits kicking and screaming out of complete Socialism. You were the 2nd poorest economy in Europe, on your way to 3rd world status. She was the Alpha female, equivalent to our Reagan. We loved her! She was one of us, the Iron Lady. Call us ignorant, boorish, and absurd if you like. Our heroes are those like Reagan and Thatcher.

Nearly all the above comments confirm all the worst stereotypes that Brits have regarding Americans. Ignorant, boorish, absurd. Thank goodness there are plenty who break the mould. Obama appears to be one of them. The rest of you, please grow up.

I’m on the losing side of the track at least 50% of the time, usually more. It has never dampened my ardor for competition and I have never once been disappointed by a loss where I played well. I’ve run into people like that…the “don’t try, you’ll just lose and feel bad crowd.” They’re usually just reliving their past failures and their self-imposed humiliation.

Britain will be fine. They put up with a lot of crap but when push comes to shove, they won’t budge.

Mary Jackson – The purpose of drinking is to lower one’s own IQ. I’ve never seen the appeal, nor have I ever found drunks appealing. Ever. The hottest babe, when drunk, is a gross turnoff to me. I drink a little here and there. I like some of the interesting flavors. I like a beer with my spicy food. I hate American pisswater beer. Getting drunk though? No thanks.

It seems to me that the stated claims against competitive sports are probably bunk. I suspect those against competitive sports are simply egalitarians and the idea of winners and losers is offensive to them.
