OH PLEASE. now the “new media” wants to get in on the “piling on” against Clinton?

Both Democratic Party candidates have many many delegates, and there are still many super-delegates to decide.

At least the “New Media” could refrain from or minimize their amateur crystal-balling…isn’t that in part what has so discredited the MSM?!!?

I find it amusing that most of the pundits are teaming Obama up with prospective VP candidates to enhance his electability. Gee, I thought you all thought he was electable on his own merit. You don’t seem to think Clinton needs an electability crutch–which to me means she is very electable on her own and her running mate will be a helpmate to deliver her programs. News people really need to stop thinking the American voting public are stupid and will are being influenced by your take on the news.

There is a basic error being made by the MSM. Super delegates CANNOT Commit. If they could, they would be “PLEDGED” delegates. Counting them now is silly and nothing more then an effort to force Shrillery out and fill up some air time so both viewers won’t get bored and go watch the grass grow.
Super delegates can and will change their mind right up until they vote in the first round at the convention. After that first round, ALL the delegates are ‘released’. SO all the dlegates become ’super’. That is what Billlery is counting on. Stay alive until after the first round, then will the nomination with a little back room arm-twisting and some outright bribery. Bribery and are twisting are protected by the 1st amendment, so it’s not illegal.
Ohhh…..BAMA is going to get screwed. It will be amusing to see how the Obamanics take that.

May 13, 2008 - 8:52 am Amanda:

Ditto bobmarley!

By the way, I came to NYT webpage looking for news on Barak Obama and the whole page is covered with articles and editorials about the Clintons. Then I clicked on a link for information on Obama’s running in W. Va. and what did I find? Comments and articles on Ms. Clinton. How about balanced reporting?! Please.

May 13, 2008 - 8:53 am AJ:

Hillary will win big, but the media will say Obama did well. They are in the tank for him, and it’s troubling. SO dishonest. Obama cannot win any real, meaningful states. The Dems are so dumb.

May 13, 2008 - 9:06 am politicalreacharound:

AJ good point. It was those stupid Dems who gave us the worst president ever George W Bush. Oh wait a minute that was the Republicans. You guys are all working yourselves up in a lather because you are scared Obama will win in November. Thats why you suddenly respect Hillary Clinton. Might as well get used to the thought of Obama in the White House because he will probably be there for 8 years.

Hey, Bob, then why do billions WANT TO LIVE in America? That is such a foolish comment. People around the world laugh at folks like YOU who have no idea how good they have it. You don’t deserve to live here w/ that attitude.

And as for the idiotic comment by the lady who backed your ignorance, the NYT has stumped for Obama for two years….they have NO credibility and that they may run Hillary stories is no big deal. They are the right arm of the Democrat party. They ran a FULL page article on Obama Sunday for NO reason. Grow up.

May 13, 2008 - 10:10 am AJ:

“You guys are all working yourselves up in a lather because you are scared Obama will win in November.”

Ha! I have said for months that the GOP nominee will win 40 states if Hussein Obama gets the nomination. I’m not scared at all. The man is incompetent, naive and foolish. His wife is worse.

As for the past 8 years, NO terrorist attacks, the stock market is near all-time highs, the unemployment rate low, and home ownership at record levels, with interest rates and inflation both in check–so why do the American people express little confidence in their economy and President Bush’s leadership?

Because they are emotional nitwits who believe anything Anderson Cooper and John Stewart tell them.

May 13, 2008 - 10:12 am Former Belgian:

If (G-d forbid) B. Hussein Snobama gets elected, we’re all going to be nostalgic for both BJ Clinton and Dubya. Yes, you read that correctly.

Snobama represents one thing and one thing only: the New Class. Not his country, not his race, not any religion.

May 13, 2008 - 10:24 am mike:

Former Belgian nailed it. It amuses to watch the New Class rip the quondam quintessential Democratis - blue collar folks - as racists. I don’t see how Obama can win in Nov.

May 13, 2008 - 10:48 am Paul:

Former Belgian is right.

All the socialist liberal elites think Eurabia will respect us for Obama. No, they wont. Europe is a racist continent. The worst on earth. They have no clue. Look at their history. They will laugh at us. They, and the terrorists fear Bush and McCain. The American Left is so ignorant and dangerous.

May 13, 2008 - 11:09 am AJ:

You dare me? Wow. Deeeep comment, man. You’re about as introspective as BHO himself.

Why don’t you do the same?

I cannot stand Vegas—all that’s wrong with America. I grew out if by the time I was 21. I prefer to visit AMERICA. You and Obama would not understand or be interested.

He can’t. Hillary wins 75% of the vote amongst Dems in most rural counties. A HIGH majority of those folks loathe Obama, and will support McCain, Nader or sit out.

Obama has NO chance.

May 13, 2008 - 11:35 am politicalreacharound:

AJ last I checked Las Vegas was in America. So you must hate America by your great conservative wisdom. I have no problem putting it on the line for Obama, he is going to win and I will gloat all over PJ media when that happens in November. Get used to it, Americans don’t want war and a crummy economy, go figure.

May 13, 2008 - 12:00 pm AJ:

No, sir, AMERICANS don’t want war, but they know when it is necessary to combat evil. The left, like you, just runs away and kowtows to evil, often only recognizing it, somehow, in their own country. Thankfully, good conservatives do your fighting for you.

A crummy economy? Do you just suck up all the MSM spews?

Must I reiterate:

NO terrorist attacks, the stock market is near all-time highs, the unemployment rate low, and home ownership at record levels, with interest rates and inflation both in check…

As for your beloved Eurabia:

Terrorist attacks a plenty, democratic socialism leaving much of the continent with low economic growth, high unemployment, a demographic crisis, and a growing cultural pessimism, secularism, multi-cultural mayhem…

Do you have an aversion to FACTS? Or do you just say ‘we dont like war.’ Dude, you’re alive because brave heroes fought for your freedom, and you don’t appreciate it. Shameful.

And what will Obama do? Bring hope and change? He has never led anything in his life or accomplished anything, has connections with the FAR left, evil Islammunists, a racist pastor, wife, etc. He is all that is wrong w/ America and precisely what we don’t need.

Wake up. You must be a collegian, white guilt latte liberal or professor with those ignorant attitudes.

I’d invite you to respond, but wouldn’t want you to have to acknowledge that you’re a simpleton.

You guys are helpless. Its a good thing most Americans don’t think like you since they have come out of the fog and realized the war was a mistake, the economic “boom” only helped the rich and high home ownership rates were a false product of greedy lenders which have helped cause this housing crises. Leadership from the Republicans has lead to disasters like Iraq, Katrina, the weak dollar and a lower global standing. Don’t talk to me about facts because I would grind you down to the ground with them. Just be ready people because McCain isn’t going to win. Conservative leadership has forfeited their right to lead. It will be a slow death march to November for the Republicans might as well start working on the eulogy.

May 13, 2008 - 1:58 pm schnargley:

Politicalreacaround is right on dude! As Obama rightly said, although it was distorted by the practinoners of divisiveness and distraction, we highly educated whites don’t have to cling to any reactionary notions about religion, patriotism, or national sovreignty to brace up our fears and inferiority complexes because we cannot afford Volvos and Prias, and our children are not at Phillips Academy, Harvard and Yale. This is the future! A new understanding of humanity, of our nation and of the future! We are taking over so you poor, ignorant, bitter people stuck in the early 80’s better get used to it.

May 13, 2008 - 2:46 pm mike:

Another factor in the election will be the Latino vote - they don’t seem to breaking for Barack. Quite the contrary. So a swing state like NM could fall for McCain. And isn’t it conceivable that with Latino support and his rather moderate conservatism McCain might actually compete in CA? Obama’s supporters are giddy right now - and that is understandable. The likely destruction of Hillary is something to be giddy about, especially by an amateur. But that excitement - which is almost certainly influencing the vast majority of likely voters to ponder voting for Obama - will wear thin, especially when people take a closer look at Obama. There are many legit questions about the man. But what is most dangerous to his chances, I think, is the fact that his supporters are so angry and self-righteous. That is not a very attractive political trait.

Emperor Obama’s North Carolina Borodino

The following are a few excerpts from a 19th. century book discovered by Misanthropicus in a bouquinist’s shop in Paris a few years ago, the book (a narrative), written by one Henri-Marie Beyle being a description of mister Beyle’s military experience as a staff officer in the Napoleon Bonaparte’s army during the disastrous Russian campaign/battle of Borodino. Besides the intrinsic value of this work, what makes Misanthropicus to submit the following excerpts to the PJM readership is mister Beyle’s ability to fuse in his narrative his 19th. century military memories with visions of current American political battles in a startlingly relevant manner (mr. Beyle’s text translated, abridged/edited by Misanthropicus):

“[…] the Borodino/North Carolina hills battle was over and we were the winners […] hills dotted with cadavers of soldiers from both parties […] The road to Moscow was open for us, our heroic, long campaign across this realm was bearing fruits. Yet, as we were all standing still, looking at [Obama] I, and I guess not few others began to have the gnawing feeling that this last valiant offense and victory [North Caroline hills] was actually an ominously [stop sign???] for our ill conceived adventure in a country whose enormous dimensions, topographic and demographic features despite our good maps, were inscrutable for our tacticians since […] North Carolina was a clear sign that we had reached our limits […] future battles wins, possible, but the thought of the incoming confrontation with the Republicans was chilling […].”Republicans are well known for their steadfastness, the volatility of our infantry will doom us […]”
“[…] later, more apprehensions. The North Carolina hills battles a bitter memory […] fratricidal, costly battle caused by mad ambitions. We simply are overextended, we cannot expand our resources to contain the Republicans who are somewhere behind the forests, scouts report well-organized, incoming columns to McCain’s camp, columns which are then efficiently dispatched to controlling hills and rivers junctions. […] sinister privateers and partisans also have been reported encroaching on our communications routes […]”
“[…] Obama says that his plan is based on the fact that Americans are primitive and their clinging bitterly to guns and Bibles is due only to the booze and amphetamines which they abundantly make and consume in the forest, we have intelligence about this from Arianne Huffington and Frank Rich […]
[…] bad news from home, d’Enghien’s, Wright’s, Ayres’s and Larry Sinclair’s phantoms have inflamed in a very pernicious degree our American subjects’ minds, Thomas Frank and David Branccaccio say we’re well positioned, Americans can’t govern themselves, can’t figure out what’s good for them […]”
“[…] at the dinner table, a grim Ney pointed to the fact that while we still have the superiority in numbers, out attempt to recruit from the defeated Hillarian camp proved to be useless, ‘Most of them would rather join McCain, those bastards!’ grumbled Marat […] a very difficult situation indeed, long, difficult supply lines, lack of clear, promising policies for our new American subjects, awful, offending pronouncements which turned against us countless voivodates […] stubborn, hostile, uncooperative, narrow-minded population, Arianna and Jane Fonda are right […]”
“[…] Obama went ballistic when Marat opened the Operation Chaos issue, we don’t have warm water […] more hysteria about those vicious AM stations which dot this land and we cannot conquer […] Obama says that he’s still undecided on whether to accept military help from Muslim countries for the Kansas, Alaska, Texas and Colorado assault, it may be counterproductive, Clooney said that it would be a clever move, my hemorrhoids hurt and all these idiots […] the atmosphere is not good […]”
[…] again irritation, we learn that Michelle has again made a fool of herself back home […] Marat complains about the quality of the MoveOnOrg, HuffPo and Daily Kos recruits, he finds them very stupid, Bernadotte confirms, adding that they are also prey to a terrible acne epidemic […] more hygiene […] that stupid pansy, Chris Matthews says that Air America is the solution, I simply cannot stand him anymore, he is SO stupid! […] Bill Richardson, to the general consternation said that we’re doing fine, and requested extra body guards the reason being some Hillarian killers stalking him, Ney threw a bowl of soup at him, accusing him that he plans to flee to Mexico with a sack of gold […]”
“[ …] the wine was good, and so was the chicken, but the dinner was spoiled by the news that on the enormous bay siding our, already overexposed left-wing, numerous Republican swift boats are gathering, then upon planning vanish in the ocean’s fog or sneak upriver, for later strikes […] various consultants say that those swift boats are practically unstoppable, their strikes have sunk many mighty campaigns […] not much cheese around, now I am certain that the historians will describe the North Carolina victory as the beginning of the end for us […]”
“[…] later, Obama examines the map and asks Coulaincourt about the name of a river: ‘That is Berezina, mon empereur,’ that reptile answers, then the emperor, after considering the map says: “I think that the Berezina route is the safest exit for us, my friends […] I fear for what’s in store for us. My god, and we haven’t even met the Republicans![…]”
A suivre.

Monsieur Misanthrope,

How dare you link history to such meaningless spectacle. You know not Sarte. Nor Camus. Uneducated bumpkin, it’s all useless. If you had a shred of education, you would know this. Did the great Derrida not proclaim that to know is not to know, and knowing is but folly, and in folly we find greatness? Well, maybe not, but he might have. Should have. Besides, it’s only the narrative that matters. And Ney was aptly named by the Muse of History, what’s her face, because he sounded like a horse. Probably the only reason he got the job. But I digress.

You are a fool, sir. Obama is no Napoleon, not even a pastry when it comes to it. He is the great Louis XVI, and his wife an Austrian princess. Do you not recognize royalty staring you in the face? But Tocqueville said it best: “Americans are basically assholes.” It took him 150,000 words, but he said it.

Misanthrope, you are entirely too erudite for your own good. And you’re a racist. Unless you hate all people seperately but equally. Only then can you be a true post-modern man. Maybe even a democrat. Merde!

My mistress is on the phone. I throw my scarf around me and draw heavily on a Galoise. She must wait. I need another absinthe.

May 13, 2008 - 5:38 pm LogicalUS:

politicalreacharound, are you like twelve or something?

You preaching about the coming salvation of the “Messiah”. One question? Obama has been in South Chicago for over two decades yet no one can point to a single case of his magical ability to reform or re-energize this hapless area.

During a period when the US economy has skyrocketed in every sector, the Obama’s area of Chicago has continued to decline? Unless, of course, you consider his “pastor” moving out to a million dollar home in the subs an accomplishment. How many of the “poor” in South Chicago could those millions have helped? Yet despite having twenty years of time and the backing of the entire Democratic machine in Chicago, Obama did nothing? But in four years, the Messiah will solve everything. Please.

I might have more faith in the messiah, if he had performed a the miracle of say what Giuliani accomplished in NY, or Jindal is currently performing in Louisiana. Hell, you think Bush is some idiot, but his record as Governor of Texas was hugely successful. He actually accomplished much of what you profess to love about the Obama. Bi-partisan legislation to benefit the citizens of Texas.

The facts are that you a simpleton who is about to vote for an empty suit who has never been successful at any of his ventures. His law career was a bust and he left to become a “community organizer”, but noone can point to any issue for which his efforts provided any benefits? He has “won” two elections entirely thru legal means he was unopposed. Yet in his terms in the legislatures, the only benefactors of his service were his backers like Rezko and not his citizens living in the tenements? He has nothing from his Congressional record because like Edwards, upon getting his seat, he immediately began running for President.

Great Candidate you got there.

Monsieur Paules, thank you very much. Your flattering & supporting views regarding my 19th. century French literature interests encourage me very much. So far I was able to translate/edit only a little part of the memoir we discuss here, so you can expect more about Emperor Obama’s triumphal entrance in Moscow and about his superb decision to cross Berezina (as we all have already gleaned from the previous post), and much more - the book in discussion is large. At the right time, I would appreciate your input for my rendering of Emperor Obama’s Elba & Et. Helen vacations.

If West Virginia is the shape of things to come, if McCain gets more than 60% of the white vote in November, I don’t see how Obama can win.

It seems likely that this campaign will continue–in the ugly new parlance–to “racialize” and not just because Obama is black. It’s a very understandable response on the part of white voters to sense that a candidate who reveres Malcolm X, attends a black power church for 20 years and only disavows its wacko pastor when the candidate’s campaign is about to implode, is not worth trusting to look out for white citizens as well as black.

Maybe in four, eight, twelve years Obama can prove himself by deeds, not words, to be worthy of that kind of trust. But not this year.

May 13, 2008 - 7:52 pm huxley:

With 98% precincts reporting Hillary has 67% of the vote and is over 41% ahead of Obama.

Everyone knew Hillary would win, but this is beyond a blowout. This gives Hillary some serious pushback when talking to the Dem leaders and superdelegates.

I don’t think it will be enough to derail the nomination for Obama, but November will be a different story.

May 13, 2008 - 10:43 pm Brenda:

I’m tired of the MSM telling me that I am a racist because I don’t like Obama. Why can’t they just accept the fact that some of us think he is too liberal and that he doesn’t have enough experience to be President?

May 13, 2008 - 11:27 pm David:

Did anyone see the opening of Saturday Night Live this past week? They usually do a simple skit, sometimes with only one person speaking, to start the show. This week it was one of the regular cast made up to look like Hilary, arguing that:

“First, she’s a sore loser. If Obama is chosen, she’ll probably refuse to campaign for him. Or, if she does, she’ll do it in a resentful, half-hearted way to assure his defeat and aid her effort to run again in 2012. Unlike her opponent, Hillary’s not going to lose gracefully. That’s not a criticism, just a fact.

Second, Hillary’s supporters are racist. If Obama is defeated, his supporters will rally to her. Hillary’s supporters will never vote for Obama, partly because she’ll secretly tell them not to, but mainly because they’re racially biased. She’s not bragging, that’s just the way it is.

And thirdly, unlike Obama, Hillary has no ethical standards. Critics agree, once she gets the nomination, she’ll stop at absolutely nothing to win, whereas there are some things that Obama simply won’t do. He’s been reluctant to play the race card, but Hillary’s happy to play the gender and race cards, even if it doesn’t make sense.”

All of this was spoken in the first person by the woman acting as Hilary, though it’s recapped here in 3rd person.

I’m not a big fan of SNL, wasn’t even a fan back in the Belushi/Ackroyd days when it was supposedly good. Thing is, humor is best when it’s true, or at least based on truth. Anyone care to refute any of the above as obviously false? It’s a bit outrageous (she would never say any of the above) but that’s what makes it funny.

May 14, 2008 - 3:49 pm Justin:

@ David:

What do you base this claim of racism off of? Maybe they just don’t want someone with absolutely no experience. Or maybe they just think that Obama is racist. After all, there is at least some evidence for that.

May 14, 2008 - 6:55 pm Evil Pundit:

Where do you get the idea that Obama has ethical standards? So far, he’s consorted with racists and terrorists, and demonstrated that he’s willing to dump his best friends if they stand in the way of his career. And then there’s the whole Rezko/Chicago machine politics thing.
