Michael.

You are far too smart and successful to join the band of reflexive Condi-bashers who criticized Rice for stating something that is an obvious truth, and doing so without trying to throw their own grandmother under the bus. Rice’s statements were both factually correct and done so with an eye towards correcting the long term imbalance in voter registration in the black community. Simply stating the obvious does no harm-and you are fully aware, Rice is appealing to rank and file Republicans precisely because she does not traffic in white guilt.

Contrast her politics with that of, say, Michelle and Barack Obama and you find good reasons why Rice is held in contempt by the likes of Spike Lee. However, Rice’s unwillingness to have the United States continue to underwrite the hideously inept policies of Ehud Olmert has brought her criticism from the crowd over at the National Review, so this bit of snide intellectual car battery theft is understandable from you.

I would suggest that some of the hideously inept policies of Ehud Olmert are a direct result of State Department prodding. The fact that Rice’s policies are not held in high regard by the left in the US does not make them the right policies for Isreal, or the US.
