Europe to an American

The high tax, big government, secular, pacifist, and enforced egalitarianism of Europe — which seems the Obaman model — is something we should be very wary of emulating.

Jay Lee:

Don’t forget the dhimmitude. Many European countries are increasingly muslim. With the exception of the UK, the EU is ripe for the slow acculturation by islam.

Jay, what is wrong with that? If Islam does a better job of providing for it’s members, it should replace Western Civilization.
In a clash of civilizations, the better one will ALWAYS survive. That survival is what makes it better. Not the clever toys, greater wealth, superior skill at war or higher forms of art.
Survival is what counts.
I think Islam is a dead end for humanity but it will be the civilization that supplants the other that is the ‘better’ civilization. We won’t know what ‘better’ is until after one civilization is gone.

The last line of VDH’s post — which is used here as the teaser/summary — seems to have been welded on after-the-fact in an attempt to make it appear that these disconnected jottings in Hanson’s vacation journal collectively argue some sort of equivalency between Europe’s decline and America’s future under an Obama administration. They don’t.

An accurate headline for this piece would be “Hanson Hits Word-Count, Cashes Paycheck.”

@ John Samford:

Cockroaches then are the highest form of life on the planet. Pass. You will live under the sort of government that Saudi Arabia can create, at least for a while, but you will pray for death the whole time.
