Get Ready for a Real ‘Chicago Way’ Olympics (Updated)

Chicagoans feel Obama owes them big. It's payback time in Copenhagen. (Update: A Slap in the Face.)

The economy is floundering. Terrorists still threaten us, and Iran continues on its path toward obtaining nuclear weapons. Afghanistan stands on the brink, and the war could be lost if we lose our resolve. Thus, we know what is foremost on President Obama’s mind: the Olympics!

That’s right. Obama is determined to help get the Olympics for Chicago. We Chicagoans got him to be senator and then president, so he pretty much owes us. And with Obama’s influence — foreigners love the guy — Chicago should be a lock, so we might as well start planning now. I’m excited; Chicago is a great place for the Olympics, as the city is known for fair play. In fact, under the city’s influence, this should be the fairest Olympics ever, where it won’t just be open to an elite set of athletes who trained all their lives. Instead, it will be open to anyone of any physical ability who happens to have the right connections and enough money.

I already talked to Tony Rezko, and he has some great deals lined up for us on properties where we could build the stadium. All he wants is for his son to win a silver medal in one of the events; he doesn’t even care which. It’s a steal, really. So as soon as we have the go-ahead, we’ll talk to the unions and get things started.

Now, Chicago could be a bit of a culture shock for some of you from foreign countries. If you’re from some violent, third-world dictatorship that holds show elections where the result is predetermined, then it will actually be pretty similar. Anyway, we will set everyone up with some pamphlets on how to avoid getting stabbed and whom not to make eye contact with. We’re all friends here, though, so if you see a crime being committed in the city, keep it to yourself. We don’t like squealers. That’s one of the ways you get stabbed.

Unfortunately, we’re going to have to get rid of all the target shooting competitions. Guns aren’t allowed in Chicago. I know the Supreme Court has ruled that you can’t ban guns, but I’m pretty sure most of the Constitution doesn’t actually apply to Chicago. At least we all operate under that assumption. Plus we keep guns out of here for a good reason: When people start bringing them in, it makes the criminal element nervous. They’re a constituency, too, and we look out for them here. In fact, we have perhaps the highest percentage of legislators who are convicted felons.

David Axelrod could come out of this one with a specially-minted Olympic Gold Medal for the biggest cojones. First he planned the Grand Scam of political history, conning a life-time, openly dedicated communist into the Presidency. Now he will get to plan and organize the greatest and juiciest insider-dealing, pay-off, kickback, rip-off in the history of Olympic Games and of Chicago, home of the dirtiest all-pervasive city government machine since Tammany Hall. What chance does a mafia have with a city administration that is already thoroughly mafiated?

Can you imagine the salivating, high-fiving gang of Chicago “entrepreneurs – engineering firms, building and facilities contractors, housing developers, road builders, entertainment planners, publicitry and promotion hucksters, hotel/hospitality/transportation operators, all eager to enrich Axelrod, Obama, Emanuel, Daley and their coteries?

What a parlay! How lucky can crooked Marxist politicians get?

A year ago, I was a voice in the wilderness, crying: “Socialists! Chicago Machine Politics” to a dead-assed, milk-toasted RNC campaign management team, hugging themselves for their “fast response”. They could have stopped the Obama team cold. Now they are brazenly and overtly charging down their dedicated course, while the McCains and the O’Reilys are still whining not to be “too hasty in our judgment”.

Our best hope is that the Olympic Committee, loaded with bitter critics of American arrogance, decide to stick their finger in Obama’s eye and give the 1016 Games to Rio.

I know that the dead vote in Chicago…but do the pay enough in taxes to pay for all the new facilities that are going to be needed to host the Olympics? Where will the money come from….oh yeah…our taxes are going up Chicago!

Go Rio,go! The IOC could do us all a big favor and step away from the preening President and his entourage. Of course they might be concerned if he tells them no he’ll schedule a speech a day until they relent. Show courage, IOC!

“If President Wee Wee doesn’t get the Olympics, well, hell, it’s all Bush’s fault. Or Reagan’s, or Rush’s, whatever.”

Oh, they’ll definitely blame conservatives for sabotaging their efforts, by publishing negative stories about Chicago. As they deliberate, the IOC is probably wondering whether they really want to risk being labeled a racist organization if they don’t pick Chicago.

And, hearing Obama speak in Copenhagen, you’d think that America’s never hosted an Olympics before. I can already see what Chicago will have planned – black panthers will be all over the place providing “security,” a gay and lesbian parade or some other such nonsense, that over-rated Jennifer Hudson will be singing the National Anthem (if we’re still allowed to sing it by then), Michelle will plant a vegetable garden in the middle of the stadium. It will be run like an Oprah show. Can’t wait.

Billions of dollars of rush-rush construction, unions in control, big money financing, low-income hiring, no bid contracts, politicians everywhere…

I say Rio! We’ve been screwed enough this year.

I see where obama summonsed a High ranking General aboard Air force One to talk about strategy for Afghanistan because obama didn’t have time to meet him at the white house because he had something more important to do with his time, (like go to Sweden to try to bribe officials into giving the Olympics for to home town of Chicago)

Oct 2, 2009 - 6:44 am 13. Texas:

“Rooting against America.” – This depends upon your expectations. I expect that obtaining (and then hosting) the Olympics will be expensive for Chicago and America without any concommitant benefit. (Is this going to raise America’s standing in the world? Bring an economic profit to America?) Thus, America is best helped by not hosting the Olympics. So rooting against hosting the Olympics is not rooting against America. Besides then Obama will have more funds to waste on a new cash for clunkers scheme or equally stupid scheme.

I agree, Obama should take after Bush and do nothing, start a couple of wars, tick off the world with arrogance and turn a blind eye on the finanical crisis..oh, I forgot the Democrats where in charge of Congress the last 2 years while bush was President so it wasn’t his fault…seems to be a double standard on who can except blame and who can’t. Next time I’m voting Republican as we need another lame duck do nothing close you eyes president that I can be proud of. I believe we can do better, Bush ranked in the bottom 3 presidents of all time, I believe we can put a republican in that can at least be the 1st or 2nd worst president of all time..there are plenty of republicans that can achieve that in the first two years. Get out and vote.

The Olympics made money in LA, made money in Atlanta, made money in Salt Lake City. 2016 would bring thousands of jobs and billions of dollars into the U.S. economy. So, what you “expect” has no basis. So, you need another excuse to root against America.

Geez!

I don’t see wanting Rio to get the Olympics over America as anti-American.
The Olympics in Chicago would be a major mistake.

Plus this whole presidency seems to be a grandstanding farce. No positive action for Americans in general, the armed forces, the economy. Communist ,taxcheats etc in the whitehouse,ACORN. Not “allowing” Americans to read the bills they want to pass , as we would not “understand” them as Kerry said. The whole situation is out of control. Chicago and the Olympics would be the biggest payoff yet for corruption.

No Olympics this time , please.

#15 writes “Bush ranked in the bottom 3 presidents of all time”.

Let me tell you pal. Obama is by FAR the WORST preident in U.S. history already – BY FAR.

He is systematically destroying our country. We’ev been on the wrong road by not abiding by our constitution for some time. But now with all our past faults two centuries of greatness are being erased in a months.

Obama is a black liberationist ergo a racist and a Marxist. In a breach of faith he refuses to defend and uphold our constitution going as far as to RENOUNCE it by saying it is “FUNDAMENTALLY FLAWED”.

He’s surrounded himself with communists, socialists, anti-white racists and those who just plain hate our country.

He’s spent his whole life by his own admission being mentored by these people, seeking them out whenever possible and now giving them power.

No, I’m no fan of Bush but Obama is our enemy. Some countries did not like Bush but our allies now shudder in horror at Obama and our enemies now laugh at us. America has become the laughingstock of the world thanks to the dimwitted Barry.

I’d take James Buchannan, Franklin Pierce, George Bush and even Jimmy Carter in a heartbeat over this despicable, arrogant buffoon.

Besides, I still find it amazing the POTUS would even go on this kind of trip in the first place; this tells me President Obama’s priorities remained scrambled & unfocused when we have nearly 10% unemployment, his Porkulus has failed, & the people are rejecting ObamaCare, Crap & Tax, & other Socialist programs.

President Obama can add to a long list of failures as President of the United States when he’s only be in office for several months. He’s a fool.

Chicago probably would have had a better chance if Obama had not shown up. Without Obama, the IOC can simply vote on the relative merits of the candidate cities. I’ll say. Didn’t Axelrod provide enough blow and hookers for the IOC?

Maybe Barry should have taken a few union thugs with him. “Vote for Chicago or someone’s gonna lose a finger!”

Of course, the unfunny part of this is when you realize Obama brings the same level of diplomatic skill to his dealings with Iran.

Oct 2, 2009 - 9:41 am 43. Observer:

The Olympics made a huge economic benefit the last 3 times they were in the USA.

If George Bush was president, you all would be supporting bringing the Olympics to the US.

But since Obama is president, you hope that every single thing he supports fails, no matter if it will:

CREATE JOBS
CREATE DEMAND FOR US DOLLARS
BOOST TOURISM
ENCOURAGE SPENDING ON US GOODS

You people are disgusting. Sure having the Olympics would result in corruption, in any country (ANYONE EVER BEEN TO RIO BEFORE???????).

But there is NO QUESTION AT ALL that the Olympics in Chicago would have created thousands of jobs and had a POSITIVE impact on the economy.

How. Can. You. Be. Opposed. To. That? Seriously?

Excellent point, Paul. To the Narcissist-In-Chief, everything is about him.

He thinks everyone is so dazzled by his charisma that Chicago would win the bid hands down. Just like he thinks that the world will say “Oh, gee, yes, you’re right about nukes being bad. Nobody ever told us that before. Now that you’ve said so, let’s all get rid of them.”

America can recover from our current difficulties and we do not need Socialistic leanings to do it. Defeat Obama = defeat of the current Marxist / Socialist push attacking our great country.
Just because things are tough is no reason to allow the Socialist opportunist (Rham’s famous “Don’t let a good crisis go to waste” ) to take control under the pretense it is to save us all. haha what horse sh*t that is.

The faster Obama is neutered the better. America will survive, we have no need for the narcissist poser that currently resides in the White House.

I am opposed to a President who is too stupid to understand why no other President ever went to an IOC selection meeting. After running all over the world apologizing for US hegemony, he goes to the IOC and says “I am the President. This is what I want. Give it to me”. The members of the IOC committee like to think that they are important. Did Obama not understand that he was giving them a golden opportunity to say “Mind your own business, this is our decision”?

paul from hamburg – I agree; Obama made the choice about him. Indeed, his (teleprompted) speech to the Committee was filled with references to himself.

These included his constant refrain of a pre-and post-Obama era. The pre-era, Obama told everyone, was an America closed to diversity (really?) and with the coming of the Messiah, America was now open to diversity. Proof of diversity was of course, Obama, and Hawaii and Indonesia.

Chicago? Obama informed the Committee that he, the Diverse One, was from Chicago.

Therefore, Choose Obama and you’d choose Chicago. In that order. That’s how a pathological narcissist ‘thinks’. That’s Obama.

And since oppression-wise Lula trumped him, Obama was reduced at being just a talkative annoyance – as you say, the simple fact is that people have gotten tired of him, and Chicago might have had a chance if the affair would have been let travel on a less personal trajectory.

Number 43, it is not that I object to the Olympics coming to America, I object to the Office of the President being squandered in such a wanton way. There is no way that this decision merited a trip to Copenhagen, (with Ophrah in tow, for crying out loud), at a time when the sitting President doesn’t have a half an hour to sit with General McChrystal or attend to an ongoing disaster in American Samoa. It was arrogant, it was self-serving, and the whole trip made him look like a complete idiot, at the expense of what? tens of millions of dollars and a godzilla sized carbon footprint.

Copenhagen Fiasco As Royal Water For Revealing Obama’s Presidency -

As Obama is returning from his most excellent visit in Danemark (or rather sacrificial journey @ $15million, as Michelle righteously put it), American troops die in Afghanistan without the White House support, black teens are bestially murdered on Chicago streets, the unemployment spikes to “The Grapes of Wrath” dimensions, and the Democrat party and its most staunch supporters (the Hollywood crew), find as most important national priority to support someone who, when he was 47, drugged a 13 years old girl and sodomized her, then, when on bail, fled to France.

Alas, a common element in these events that mark Obama’s transformational presidency is the Democrat party’s complete, utter detachment from the concerns of America (in the Obamas’ case, utter contempt is the right term).

And since we’re visiting the connectedness thing – we have Oprah, and we’ll laugh, we’ll cry, we’ll learn with her about the Copenhagen fiasco and the larger right-wing conspiracy that has stopped the IOC to allow Barry to offer this gift to Daley & Perps.
And Oprah is such a raconteur! she will entertain us with riveting detail about the shopping spree & bedeviling quandaries faced by Michelle in Copenhagen: aren’t the $700 sneakers perhaps a bit too subdued? Still, the necklace, is kind of appropiate! But the aragula, do these whiteys know how to make it right?

So, thanks Obama & Oprah, now we realize that the uneployment, the abandoned US servicemen in Afghanistan, the murders of teens in Chicago, or the clearly not “rape-rape” of 13 years girls (those little whores!) are just distractions, if not outright irrelevant situations – yes, and Obama’s transformational presidency splendidly marches on -

Richard, Richard, Richard . . . can I call you Dick? Obama doesn’t say America sucks. He says America is real. Having no sense of the latter, you’re left with baseless accusation. You should do well here. I suggest you hook up with athinkingperson, well, not in THAT way because that would be gay, but I’m sure he can advise you in ways to avoid accountability for your barnacle brain farts.

Brazil is run by a commielib. After Rio experiences another Montreal meltdown, we will discover than Rio has more crime than either Chicago or New York, has more poverty than Calcutta and there media is dumber than Kieth Uberidiot on his worse day. Frankly, Chitown should be proud of what they hath wrought. Blago,Obamascum,Assholerod,Rambonehead, Burrass, Daley, the Madigans-the voters in those districts dont have many brains , do they? No wonder the Cubs never win. With the types of assclowns the voters in Chitown vote in, they never will win.

To #43 – Obama is NOT a fellow countryman. We cheer any defeat that would weaken this incompetent tyrant.

No reasonable businessman will start spending what little capital that he has left to expand his business with this anti-American communist nitwit on the loose. No jobs are on the horizon until his agenda is crushed. We are fighting for our future and the future of the United States.

Obama is by FAR the WORST president in U.S. history already – BY FAR.

He is systematically destroying our country. We’ve been on the wrong road by not abiding by our constitution for some time, decades in fact. But now with all our past faults two centuries of greatness are being erased in a matter of months.

We now have to prepare to fight his attempt to takeover our healthcare system with all our might or lose our liberty. Cap and trade will obliterate the middle class with higher eletric, natural gas and gasoline bills. The Obama’s critisize Americans by saying we can’t warm our homes to 72 degrees while they crank their winter White House to 85 degrees at taxpayers expense. Michelle’s sacrificing again, I guess.

Obama is a black liberationist, ergo, a racist and a Marxist. In a breach of faith, he refuses to defend and uphold our constitution going as far as to RENOUNCE it by saying it is “FUNDAMENTALLY FLAWED”.

He’s surrounded himself with communists, socialists, anti-white racists and those who just plain hate our country.

He’s spent his whole life by his own admission being mentored by these people, seeking them out whenever possible and now giving them power.

We must defeat Obama. Losing to him and his henchmen is not an option.

He can stay in Denmark with Michelle and Oprah.

Not to worry, there’ll be plenty of “trickle down” jobs after the riots tonight, when two-thirds of downtown Chicago burns to the ground.

Ozymandias

by Percy Bysshe Shelley

I met a traveler from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them, on the sand,
Half sunk, a shattered visage lies, whose frown,
And wrinkled lip, and sneer of cold command,
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamped on these lifeless things,
The hand that mocked them, and the heart that fed;
And on the pedestal these words appear:
“My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look upon my works, ye Mighty, and despair!”
Nothing beside remains. Round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Hey the crooks in crook town don’t get to graft a few billion off the American taxpayer. That’s good news!
The O’s in the White must be shocked. Good for them. There’s a lot more in the way of humiliation coming their way.

Rumor has it that the IOC wanted proof of citizenship from all the ambassadors speaking on behalf of their country.

Copenhagen isn’t in Sweden. Geez, it’s exhausting dealing with the relentless ignorance of the right

Uh huh. Maybe Obambi lost the IOC when he tried speaking a few words of Austrian to them.

Obama doesn’t say America sucks. He says America is real.

Oh, my, how profound is that? And here we were all thinking America was unreal before Barry came along to set us straight.

I think Obama is real. A real bozo.

Just keep ‘em coming N and T. You’re better than a couple of G and T’s when it comes to makes me laugh.

This is a strategic blunder for Obama. THe should never have never become involved in this, he certainly should not have gone of schilling for Chicago to get the Olympics. He is President of the United State and such matters should not even be on his radar screen. Besides that the Olympics are some economic boon to the city that hosts them is a myth. Almost every city loses money hosting the Olympics. A city like Atlanta can make up for those losses by increased international trade. But Chicago has been one of the worlds largest trade centers for over 100 years. All the Olympics can be to them is an unfunded strain on an already tight city budget with little to no economic advantages.

Well the secret is out, Every other Country knows what most Americans Know. (whither they are smart enough to admit it or not) Obama is an idiot. He has made a fool of himself and belittled the USA as he has never done before, even with the other stupid things he has done. before the whole world and then to get rejected. I guess Denmark dosen’t know how Chicago politics works.

Observer and Now and Then….what exactly do you have against a third world country getting the chance to host the first ever Summer Olympics in South America? Why can’t we share the wealth with them for a change? Do you think Cariocas aren’t smart enough to pull this off, even though they manage to host Carnival every year and will host the World Cup in 2010?

Or are you….maybe…in spite of your dearly held liberal beliefs…a little bit racist?

Oct 2, 2009 - 6:59 pm 79. Richard:

When evaluating character, I find it useful to pay attention to what the person actually says, not what others tell you what they mean. This President, like it or not, has said on more than one occasion that “no nation should be above another” and other such and equally moronic babble suitable for a pony tailed Social Studies professor in the local community college. The latest embarrassment was at the UN, which I think was in very recent memory. I listened to the whole thing.

So, despite the best efforts of certain posters here who are trying to convince me that I am not hearing what I heard, and seeing what I saw, I frankly do not believe you. You resort, as you always to, to ad hominen and straw men to defend the indefensible. It is a sign of utter desperation.

No amount of smoke screen will work in the future.

Oct 2, 2009 - 8:08 pm 80. 4 of 7:

The other competing cities made their pitches about what they could do to make the Olympics successful: transportation, facilities, hotel rooms, etc. M, O and O made an emotional appeal as to what the Olympics could do for Chicago: Give us the Olympics because that’s what my father would have wanted, it’s for the children, diversity, etc. The emotional appeal also probably lost a great deal of its heartstring-tugging effectiveness since most of the delegates heard it via a translators voice through an earbud. (hattip to Ben Fergusson)

Since Rio is in the southern hemisphere, won’t we be able to have both the Summer and Winter Olympics at the same time?
