Is the Race Over?

Don't write off the underdog just yet.

The media has written off John McCain. With national polling showing Obama comfortably in the lead, reporters have their narrative. The election night stories are probably written with only two blanks to fill in for the popular vote percentage and the electoral count.

Conservatives are likewise glum. Recriminations abound. McCain shouldn’t have chosen Sarah Palin. Or he should have used her more. He should never have brought up Bill Ayers and the other sleazy associates. Or he should have done it earlier. Current and former McCain advisers are feuding openly and on the record, suggesting some are disloyal and the others are incompetent.

The only thing which virtually all observers can agree upon: McCain needed a better-defined economic message earlier in the campaign and a less frenetic response to the financial crisis. Well, that’s all coulda, shoulda, woulda stuff now.

The question remains what, if anything, McCain can do now. It seems his task is to convince voters, millions of whom have already made up their minds to vote for his opponent, that an Obama presidency would pose grave dangers, domestic and foreign.

In this effort he has two Joes, a Nancy, and a Harry to help him.

Joe the Plumber of course has given McCain his economic message. Joe pulled back the curtain on Obama’s infatuation with a redistributionist economic policy, one which relies on high taxes and massive spending. McCain must hammer home that this is re-warmed 1960s-style liberalism and the very formula most likely to prolong our financial ills. And he would do well to explain that there’s no possible way for Obama to tax merely the “rich” and pay for all his plans. In an Obama administration, not just small businessmen, but many very middle class blue and white collar workers, are going to have their taxes raised in order pick up the tab for vast new domestic spending.

The other Joe has provided a second opening. Joe Biden declared that not only will Obama’s election invite international challenge, but that “it’s not gonna be apparent initially, it’s not gonna be apparent that we’re right.” Well, precisely. National security has been pushed to the side during the financial crisis, but McCain now must remind voters of just how dangerous a world it can be and just how problematic many of Obama’s declared positions would have been had Obama been in the Oval Office (e.g., an immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq, unconditional talks with Ahmadinejad, an initial reaction of moral equivalence when Russia invaded Georgia). It is not just that Biden’s comment is predictive; it is that it is descriptive of Obama’s past track record. In short, it is apparent that Obama’s gotten virtually nothing right.

Both McCain and Palin have latched onto this and continue to hammer home the point: Obama cannot be trusted as commander-in-chief. The media is not interested in covering this, of course. But the McCain-Palin ticket has learned — finally — to pound and pound away, trying to force the MSM to cover their message.

I wake up on some mornings, not feeling as if I am in the middle of an election year, but rather, in the middle of a Nelson DeMille novel.

Ok, so let me get this straight. On the one side, we have a man who served the country almost his entire adult life. Was taken as a prisoner of war and served for over two decades as a senator. His record as a senator shows a willingness to not only legislate in a bi-partisan manner, but to put country and honor and principles over party loyalty. We can look at virtually the entirety of his life and his record as a legislator and come away with a pretty clear picture of what we are getting. He is NOT a clone of the current President, far from it. That is a dime store sound bite. He is a centrist leaning thinker and a staunch and unwavering supporter of Israel. He is the center right mirror image of Joe Lieberman’s center left politics. Their brotherly handshake crosses the very midpoint of American politics. Neither is a fringe candidate.

On the other hand, we have a man whose history is lost in the mist. He has had a penchant for cleaving to some of America’s most virulent voices of hatred and …to be kind…revolution…if not outright treason. His “spiritual advisor”, his “guiding light”, has asked God to damn America…not defend it.

He has an association with not just one, but several fringe agents of radical extremism who actively seek the overthrow of our government and undermine our allies…while lionizing our enemies…and have met with those enemies of state in furtherance of that agenda. Michael Klonsky is not William Ayers, but they are kindred spirits in seeking revolution. Ayers has announced himself an anarchist and a small “c” communist. Posters of Che Guevara are proudly hung, but our own flag is “the wrong kind” of patriotism. Farrakhan and Wright meet with Libyan dictators, Ayers with Chavez, Klonsky with Maoists and Malley with Hamas.

Rashid Khalidi, is a dinner companion. The late Edward Said was one as well.

And the ONLY person digging into the history of this candidate…is a very um…unique…character who has filed a lawsuit that alleges, inter alia…that the candidate was born in Kenya, that he applied for college grants or aid as a foreigner and not as a US citizen, that he never held a US citizenship…but rather a dual one from Kenya and, of course…from Jakarta where he went to school as a boy.

This, of course could be cleared up in a matter of moments with his college records and applications, cooperation with the Kenyan government, …and it would put an end to the rather ridiculous lawsuit, by this …um…unique…litigant.

Except…the Kenyan government detained someone who went there in peace to uncover whatever facts could be dug up. It appears that someone named Odinga has a blood relationship to the candidate…and some influence in Kenya. What does this Odinga person stand for, in terms of political beliefs? And why hide documents that would clear up the situation?

Well…no matter. It is simply a matter of having the colleges and universities and public records holders turn over a couple of papers and the bizarre matter is cleared for good. Except, our universities and colleges and public libraries all of a sudden begin blocking inquiry into what otherwise would seem to be a rather mundane set of documents.

Either he did or he did not apply for grants and aid and acceptance as a foreign student or he did not. Either he attended meetings and conducted business with certain individuals or he did not. A silly, ludicrous, inane accusation by a rather …um…unique…litigant…should gain no traction and we should go on with more serious issues. But…there is no hospital record of birth in the US. Yet, anyway.

The college records are locked and sealed. The Kenyan government refuses to cooperate and detains the only person who sought to dig for the answer.

So…maybe the guys who are doing the digging are a little…um…unique…but all of a sudden I’m not so sure who is crazy and who is sane any longer. I am normally pretty level-headed and I am fighting off this paranoia with every fiber of my being. There is a normal, rational, sane explanation…for what has gone on unexplained for too long here.

But since our very incurious media seems more intent on pursuing their foot fetish on Sarah Palin and whether she is wearing pumps today or espadrilles…I’m not sure where to find the confirmation that truth isn’t stranger than fiction in this election.

I have three areas of inquiry that I think are fair and reasonable:

1)Frank Marshall Davis, William Ayers, Michael Klonsky, Alice Palmer, Danny Davis, the New Party, the DSA, have all espoused radical extremist views regarding our government, ways to undermine it, and to overthrow or replace it with some brand of leftist ideology. Are we entitled to know the truthful depth and breadth of your associations with these individuals and groups and what…PRECISELY…is that relationship over the years. How PRECISELY do you view that ideology, where PRECISELY do you differ and where PRECISELY do you concur?

2)Your foreign policy team is made up largely of people who hold very similar views on Israel, which, to date has been complete inapposite to the American people. Brzezinski, Malley, Kurtzer, Lugar, Jones, Power, Rice, Lake, Bonior…along with Zinni, Baker, Buchanan…make up a unit of thought that is in line with the Walt and Mearsheimer reasoning. This portends a sudden and abrupt shift in our relationship with Israel and the Palestinians. What, PRECISELY …do you find persuasive in their line of thinking and what PRECISELY do you disagree with? You have had social dinner evenings, at a minimum, with Rashid Khalidi, someone who supports suicide bombers and has been a radical extremist in his speeches against Israel. What PRECISELY is your view on Khalidi and the late Edward Said?

3)This matter of this bizarre lawsuit can be cleared up in a matter of moments. What could possibly be in your college records that is not a source of pride to you? Your grades? Who cares…the classes you took, completely beside the point. What in the world would be in there that would motivate you to deny access to them?

But they could disprove that you applied for grants, aid or acceptance as a foreign citizen as alleged in that bizarre request for admissions. And why would you issue a “call to action” against Stanley Kurtz on Milt Rosenberg’s show? He is respectful and diligent…even if he disagrees with your position or digs for documents regarding your associations with the people and institutions in paragraph 1 above. Asking universities and libraries to lock down evidence is not the “change” and “new type of leadership” that any of us want. Don’t you want people to get to know you, since you are rather new to the scene?

If this is a “distraction” from “real” issues…isn’t it best to open it up, get it over with and proceed on with those other issues? By blocking, stalling, hindering and shouting down those inquiries…it only prolongs the unanswered questions…and it leaves them lingering in the air.

Words are not evidence. Speeches are not evidence. I have tended to believe that some of these fantastical allegations could not possibly be true. That they were the products of fertile imaginations and tortured logic. But the fact that they remain unanswered and combined with the detention in Kenya, the shout down of Kurtz, the lockdown of the public records, the calls to action, the threat of “fairness doctrines”, the conspiracy of silence of the entrenched (and ever more apparently “controlled” media)…stinks of a coverup to be quite frank.

Private presidential seals? Overblown portraits hung on buildings? Paramilitary chants and exercises?

Start the revolution without me.

There, there,CF, it’s going to be all right. Barack’ll be faced with cleaning the Augean stables of the steaming piles we’ve left him. Four years of Obama cleaning up this mess will keep him occupied. Remember, we survived Jimmy Carter.

The race is not over until the fat lady sings. Don’t blame McCain or Palin. No matter who they would have picked, the Red state values are full of contradictions, lack of social value, greed, racism, no common sense, violence and financial waste. The 2008 USA has changed. It’s not an island anymore. We need vision, integrity and leadership.

“….make up a unit of thought that is in line with the Walt and Mearsheimer reasoning.”

And yet, Marty Peretz and the majority of American Jews support Barack Obama. They also intensely despise Sarah Palin because of her traditional Judeo-Christian values. The Jews who seem to have their heads on straight are normally those who are members of orthodox synagogues. This may be the number one question of the election year: why are most Jews so suicidal? Why are they crapping on a friend of Israel like Governor Palin while adoring a proven radical like Barack Obama who attended an anti-Semitic church for twenty years? Will Jewish self hatred destroy Western Civilization?

Sarah Palin’s “traditional Judeo-Christian values”?

Like what?

Speaking in tongues? Belief in witch doctors? Shooting animals from airplanes? Lying? Shopping?

Or perhaps belief that the earth is 6,000 years old? That humans and dinosaurs walked the earth together? That God builds pipelines?

Cfbleachers, I share many of your concerns – Bravo.

Obama is not CIC material.

I don’t think any one with real sense would for example hire an executive/manager to run a business you worked all your life to build and take pride in and employ many at, to suddenly take a massive leap in faith and hire someone who refuses adamantly to disclose fully/officially who he is. Someone who cannot certify his experience and counters his apparent weaknesses with fanciful rhetoric of where he’d like to take your business etc. You know he makes little sense and that what he proposes will irreparably harm the livelihoods of all you help employ; and you recognize that although as ambitious and confident as this individual is who brazenly withholds his record and who embellishes at will, you also shudder that every bone in your body knows he is the wrong person to hire with such responsibilities.

So why even entertain the idea??? Why risk everything on this one individual with a cv that fits on the back of a driver’s license you’re unsure even belongs to this applicant?

Why be so reckless? Especially when there’s a candidate you know who has a proved work ethic, shows immense loyalty, does not obfuscate who he is and what his intentions are, is consistent on many matters and takes his responsibilities seriously. Who realizes the position isn’t some theater to satisfy his own ballooning ego wanting to be adored by all and sundry, that very difficult decisions will be part and parcel of the job and who knows what real challenges are and demand.

Why reward a novice with a non legislative/executive record, who clearly conceals his background and disguises his aims?

It..
Does..
NOT..
make SENSE.

One interesting item is a recent interview of Hank Williams, Jr. of MNF fame, by Neil Cavuto on FOX News. Hank’s been traveling with Sarah Palin on the Republican trail. Now the press loves to show us the huge throngs of people when Obama comes to town as in Berlin, but only closeups of Sarah or McCain. An enthusiastic Hank said Sarah attracts huge crowds wherever she goes. Thousands have to be turned away. Hank believes that the election is no contest, Mccain and Palin will win big.

Then we got Bush and the last eight years which is a total repudiation of everything that I call conservatism and there is no way given we have been in charge the whole time that it can be denied. Most of the true believer posters here have been singing Bush’s praise the whole time so take some responsibility. Now we have McCain who truth to tell sometimes looks off his meds, some to the behavior during the debates was nothing other than weird admit it guys, who has chose a dimwit as his vp. I hardly know one Republican who doesn’t consider her disaster, now admittedly my crowd is upper middle business and professional types but it’s almost universal believe me. A lot of the posts here are basically from folks who aren’t operating in the real world. For those of us that are whether they are trad Republicans like me or dems or independants it’s going to be Obama because it’s a no brainer.

Joe the Plumber and BHO’s “spread the wealth” comment led to charges of The One being a “socialist.” The truth is that we have two socialist parties that have just agreed on partial federal ownership of banks and at least one insurance company, AIG. President Bush has said these measures are “temporary.” Which of the candidates is most likely to fulfill that promise and which candidate is likely to expand on federal ownership and control of business? Today the front page of the MSM tells us Democratic congressional leaders are up in arms over the bonuses banks will be paying their employees and have suggested legislation to control what bank employees are paid. After all, the federal government is putting up the bucks to support the banks; why shouldn’t it control every detail of how they are run? With 3 branches of far left government, led by The One, we are well on our way to total federal control of our economy, which will lead to more of the same type of foul ups that caused the housing/credit fiasco and economic collapse. Only a McCain/Palin miracle can hope to even slow the socialism now.

Bravo, cfbleachers, bravo!

It ain’t over til it’s over. I think McCain is sanguine because (from a long piece I wrote on the 10th of October):

Strategy: Mobilize the grass roots. Via a timed release during CSW of precision-guided memes into the popular culture using advanced semiotic techniques and by asserting control of the news cycle, that is by manipulating the manipulating deadwoods—which, happily, demonstrates a uniquely linear modality of thought—the campaign’s messages can be brought to the electorate in the age of YouTube in snippets, where there they’re amalgamated on-line by allied cyberforces and promoted by allied media.

Allow the electorates’ flames of natural curiosity to be stoked by promoting the available alternate information sources and judiciously add fuel to keep the fire burning.

Actually, it is worse since McCain’s party is burdened by Bush’s Iraq war and the Katrina debacle as well. And McCain doesn’t have too much of a message. It will take a true miracle for McCain to win. In RCP averages of polls Obama has crossed the 50% marks in VA, CO, PA, OH, NM, and NH. It looks like an electoral landslide.

The payoff for the mainstream media, for their shameless bias (they make no pretense and no attempt to hide it) is going to be the shut down of conservative radio shows and censorship of conservative blogs: the “Fairness” Doctrine.

The editors and owners of the mainstream media outlets are gambling it all, as their ratings tumble and their top and bottom lines shrink.

Methinks this grand gamble of theirs will pay off. However, it will only stiffen our spines and we will find ways around their muzzling of our voices. And it is not going to bolster their readership and viewership.

Socialist governments derive a lot of their power from being able to grant monopolies to certain industries and companies. We are witnessing this.

Oct 25, 2008 - 8:32 am 33. Joseph Marshall:

No the race is not over. There are still 10 days to go.

So lets take the opposite end of the bet. McCain wins. How can that happen? First of all we can look at the popular vote. If you place all national polls to a regression trend line [rounded] you get McCain 42%, Obama 52%, a ten point spread with 8% undecided [Any surplus above 50% cannot be counted as undecided. Think for a minute and you'll see why]. Here is the source for the regression trend line:

http://www.pollster.com/polls/us/08-us-pres-ge-mvo.php

Now McCain’s figure is the absolute rock bottom of his possible numbers until the undecided must finally make a choice. He clearly needs a “Hail Mary” pass. This is quite possible. I actually watched the Pittsburgh Steelers’ original of such a pass. So I can testify to it.

So McCain needs all of the 8% undecided. But this only gets him to 50%. To get to 51% he needs to pry 3% of Obama’s voters off his rival. At the moment, this would require a 1%+ per day gain in those national polls.

But we’re assuming that McCain does this. Now lets turn to the electoral vote. McCain is currently sitting on a solid 157 electoral votes. Since 270 is the magic number, he still needs 113. All the current toss-up states–Nevada, Montana, North Dakota, Missouri, Indiana, North Carolina, Florida–have 75 electoral votes between them. So McCain wins them all. That gets him to 232.

Now lest you think I have the thumb on the scales, I will use a different source for the EV count than the regression trendline, though both come up with the same EV numbers, and both are the most generous sources I can find that amalgamate all state polls:

http://www.realclearpolitics.com/epolls/maps/obama_vs_mccain/?map=5

Now the absolute lowest figure, from these sources, of Obama’s solid and leaning EV states is 306. So John McCain must pry 74 Ev off of Obama’s total to win. These must come from the “leaning Obama” states, he really does not have enough time to take down a solid Obama state. So those 44 votes must come from: New Mexico [5EV], Colorado [9], Ohio [20], Virginia [13], New Hampshire [4].

So McCain pulls in Ohio and Virginia. That gets him up to 265. So he needs five more. Colorado or New Mexco will do it, taking him exactly to 270 or to 274. If he takes all the leaning Obama states, he can push that up to 283, three EV shy of George Bush’s 2004 victory of 286.

So let’s reprise. To win the popular vote, John McCain must acquire the undecideds and 3% of the Obama voters at a rate of 1% per day. to win in the Electoral College he must win the following states: Nevada, Montana, North Dakota, Missouri, Indiana, North Carolina, Florida, Colorado, Ohio, and Virginia.

Now anyone who truly believes in a McCain victory, and is up for a sporting flutter, can make some real money on Intrade at the moment. By my calculation, $100.00 today on a McCain victory would get them $8650.00.

You’ll kick yourself if you miss the chance.

Obama is winning this election becuase he has showed that he is the only candidate who is smart enough to win it.You can argue all you want that he isnt experienced but the fact is that he was expeienced enough to win a democratic primary against a powerful p;olitical machine like the Clintons and an american hero like McCain. And of course he had the advantages thast the others didnt of being black and having a muslim sounding name.Even if he loses the election which he wont he will have already accompolished one of the most incredible political performances of all time. You guys dont have to admit it;you never will. And becuase of the underestimation of his abilities by his foes he will always have a leg up on any of them. You can shout all you want that if only the voters knew how radical he was they would never vote for him.The country understands exactly how different he is and that is why he is winning. The center of this country is not where it was 8 years ago.You are the ones who are not mainstream, not OBAMA.SHOUTING lIBERAL AT THE TOP OF YOUR LUNGS is no longer a substitute for a campaign.
When people accuse Obama of redistributing the wealth, they are not thinking about him being a socialist. They are thinking about all of the WALL STREET ceos who made unseemly amounts of money .Do you think they feel sorry that such wealth will be redistributed? When times are good and people think they will move up the ladder and be wealthy, they would be receptive to not redidtributing the wealth. When that hopE has been destroyed they are more concerned about survicing than becomimg rich.
You dont have to like it but that is why he is winning.Unlike Clinton and McCain who thought they had a divine right to be president and prepared their campaigns in that fashion,Obama set out to show the people that he was the best person for the job.And that is why he will win.

John McCain’s biography does not matter. Republic party has become full of 2 types of people – (i) One is the wealthy who only care about themselves and do not want to contribute to the USofA and (ii) Joe the idiot plumber who is glad to go with (i) though his self interest will dictate otherwise. Ruling elite of GOP consists primarily of (i) and they have gladly borrowed money in name of (ii) which they have used to enrich themselves through shear plunder. It is the GOP elites who have gained thru Iraq War, shipping jobs overseas, major wall street bonuses, fat lawyer fees and the tax cuts.

I can only hope that most people are wise enough to see what has happened; we will find out Nov 4.

We still don’t know what role race will play, if any, when folks get to the voting booth. Totally unaccounted for in any poll. Also unaccounted for is any bump in turnout from republican norms that Sarah Palin may bring. She may get out the vote, she may not. But if she does it would be trouble for Obama. Add these two factors together and it adds up to alot more uncertainty about hte final result than is currently the conventional wisdom. Obama is the favorite but there is still a very real chance McCain could win. Any increase in republican turnout and a failure of the much vaunted ‘youth and 1st time voter’ turnout Obama is counting on would make for a big surprise come Nov 5.

It is over. McCain lost my family of independents. Three of them are retired military officers (Go Navy)! We are fiscal conservatives and liberal on the social issues. Why vote Republican? We would get neither. The Republicans should dump the Christian right and embrace Libertarian values. Just a footnote I signed up on both the Obama and McCain websites to volunteer and get emails (It is a great way to keep up on things)…I get called EVERY FRICKEN DAY and receive 5 emails from the Obama camp and have yet to receive a phonecall from McCain and have received a grand total of 2 emails in three weeks. I drove by the Republican Campaign offices here in my heavily R district…the Democratic office had so many volunteers they had them set up outside on the sidewalk making phonecalls on their cells and the Republican office had TWO old ladies answering the phones, this was on a Saturday afternoon two weeks before the election!

Oct 25, 2008 - 8:59 am 41. Gotta say it:

I am off topic but I just gotta say I took a good look at this “socialist” charge. Not Obama. hes not socialist hes realistic. The corporations have had huge subsidies for decades.

The public view of socialism is where I’m going with this.

I can’t help but realize all the people who have befitted from the government when the government disenfranchised half of it’s citizens. And there benefactors who have these possessions today are adamantly against helping there fellow citizens.

Even after the promise of 40 acres was rescinded. By June of 1865, around 40,000 freed slaves were settled on 400,000 acres (1,600 km²) in Georgia and South Carolina. Soon after, President Johnson reversed the order and returned the land to its white former owners. Because of this, the phrase has come to represent the failure of Reconstruction and the general public to assist African Americans.

During the land grant era of the US Both Native Americans and free Blacks were excluded. So when you yell and say “un-American and thats socialism”. And every other hypocritical hateful term. Your telling every continuously disenfranchised person to “stay in your place boy”.

And when you really think about it every Black American and native American should want socialism. Why would they wanna run a race starting with a ball and chain around there ankle.

I am not saying who’s wrong or right. I am simply understanding from a human point of view.

Yes the polls indicate McCain has work to do. Sigh. And the polls are always right, just ask President Kerry and President Gore.

Anybody remember the investigation the networks were going to do about the vastly wrong exit polling provided to the networks in 2004? Me neither.

How about the media saying FL went to Gore when the polls in the CDT region of FL were still open? Suppress the vote – anyone?

How can the D/R/I weighting be taken seriously when so many PUMAs are not voting for Obama? Operation CHAOS – voter registrations to the democrat party for the purpose of keeping Hillary in the race – have also erroneously weighted democrat registration.

Anyone who puts credibility in these polls either has no memory or is a democrat engaging in habitual wishful thinking.

Is Obama in HI looking for legitimacy? A simple presentation of a COB would have stopped this speculation long ago. Are we supposed to believe that the DNC lawyers are drawing out the PA litigation because they like spending time and money on a bogus lawsuit? Why not produce the document and put this whole thing to rest?

Won’t becomes can’t – is the only explanation.

I’m with you, Mr. Bleachers, not a conspiratist thinker, but beginning to smell something rotten in Denmark.

BTW – I fully expect our Obamamedia to call the election a landslide early on to suppress R turnout. Count on it. They’ve done it as far back as I can remember, and this year they’ve thrown all pretense of objectivity out the window.

The “maverick”, my friends, can not get enough traction to defeat a socialist like Obama because he can not draw enough of a contrast between himself and the socialist. Conservatives will have to take back the Republican party and then take back our country before the socialists can do to much harm to it. I don’t believe this is possible, because we have become a nation of half-informed people.

Oct 25, 2008 - 9:21 am 47. Michael Baum:

Following is something I wrote about a month ago. This looks like a good place to post. Hopefully some will understand exactly why the race should not be over.

Many may believe that BO has already won because the people are wanting ‘change,’ and he is the self-annointed ‘agent,’ we need.

No doubt we do need a great deal of change. Yet most do not realize that so much of what needs to be changed has been that way for a long time.

You have to admire Obama and the Democrats for being able to place all of the blame on Bush and the Republicans. As if everything that now plagues us has just happened in the last 8 years.

No doubt the GOP missed out on a golden opportunity. Yet, how soon we forget they controlled both Houses of Congress for 40+ years.

McCain may not have been my first choice. Indeed I was probably quite blase. So let me say it straight-out for the pundits that continue to criticize his biggest decision. His choice of Sara Palin was absolutely brilliant and a masterful stroke. Indeed, it was deja-vu 1980 when Reagan picked Bush. I am sure that a historical review of that pick will show the media considered that a major blunder too. Why? Because it was not expected. See the media just does not like to be caught off-guard.

John McCain has absolutely won me over. I believe with my entire being that he is the only one who will bring our country ‘real change.’ He is the one to wake up the echoes of Abe, Teddy, Barry and Ronnie. All of them understood the wisdom of Churchill’s words.

“There is nothing wrong with change, if it is in the right direction.”

Clearly John and Sara understand this fundamental concept. I am afraid that BO probably should have read the words of the great American artist, Thomas Hart Benson.

“You can’t change your mind up on a scaffold without the risk of everything going awry. You must solve your problems before you get up there.”

Benton was known for rejecting the “orthodoxies of modernism, which he saw as elitist, neurotic, and obscurantist”. His works are best known to show the real American spirit, “steeped in North American folk traditions” and free of “the decadence of European high culture”.

Gee that almost sounds like Joe the Plumber and those “racist, oops, redneck Pennsylvanians. Surely they are the same people who cling to their guns and religion.

So yes America, let’s change but not just for the sake of change.

John McCain and Sara Palin remind me of the famous words spoke by another War Hero and Republican Senator during the days of Reconstruction.

“My Country Right or Wrong; if right, to be kept right; and if wrong, to be set right.”[Carl Schurz]

They are thinking about all of the WALL STREET ceos who made unseemly amounts of money. Do you think they feel sorry that such wealth will be redistributed? When times are good and people think they will move up the ladder and be wealthy, they would be receptive to not redidtributing the wealth. When that hopE has been destroyed they are more concerned about survicing than becomimg rich.

This is pretty much the stupidest “rationale” anyone could have for voting for Obama. First of all, if those CEOs didn’t exist, how would the money they made even come into existence? Do you have any understanding at all of capital markets and how they allocate resources? Do you think if Lehman Brothers never existed there would be billions and billions of dollars to build schoolhouses? Seriously, anyone who thinks that is an idiot of the highest magnitude.

Secondly, how exactly does Obama’s plan, which likely involves hiring thousands of bureaucrats to enforce, make it more likely that people will “survive”? If you take all of that CEO money and parcel it out to pay the salaries of thousands of bureaucrats, how much do you think is going to be left over for “helping people survive”?

God, think for a second about what you are saying before saying it. For Christ sakes, “wealth redistribution” only works for the people who get government jobs that otherwise wouldn’t exist. If your grand ambition in life is to work for the government, by all means, vote for Obama, but the fact that he’s promising people something he can’t deliver and they are eating it up without thinking through the logic of the situation is definitely a bad sign. Because when it doesn’t work, and his plans won’t work in any sense that Americans have traditionally understood plans to “work”, he’ll go looking for someone to blame and then it will get ugly.

I wish “the rich” had more influence over politics in this country, then we wouldn’t get these retarded politicians like Obama promising stuff that can’t be delivered and we’d have some realism in policy-making. And don’t give me the example of Warren Buffett, who clearly has motivations beyond financial in backing Obama. This is the same Warren Buffett that says the stock market is the best place to obtain wealth, yet doesn’t seem to be leading the charge to privatize Social Security, which is the greatest wealth-stealing program in the country (if you weren’t lucky enough to be born before 1970, that is).

I agree with the comments that noted Obama’s alarming secrecy and Jewish oblivousness to the rise of antisemitism everywhere and the concrete threat to Israel posed by Obama’s advisors. But I also agree with the Democrats who point to corruption in Republican circles. But that is not the comment I want to make.
Until Joe the Plumber entered the scene, our celebrity culture had focused on the personal appeal of the various candidates, as if each would be a dictator ruling by decree, more or less benificent and empathic with suffering humanity. What Joe did by his questioning of Obama’s taxation proposal was to emphasize the role of abstract economic processes: namely the rival economic theories that are at stake here: one that echoes and even goes beyond the statist (Keynesian) New Deal, while the other is closer to supply-side economics as prsented by such as Hayek and successive neoliberals. Nothing is stopping journalists and the rest of us from examining how these rival policies have operated in practice, and no one is stopping us from looking at what regulations are effective and which ones are counter-productive.
If it is impossible to teach our electorate how to compare and contrast these rival theories, then we should just admit that democracy is an entirely utopian notion that is at its core irrational. I for one am not willing to throw in the towel yet. Read the Jefferson-Adams correspondence and you will see that they predicted that it would take many centuries to realize the democratic republic, and that education was the key to it all.

KD, you obviously don’t know Christians so don’t talk about them.

Vivo: B. Hussein Obama has no integrity. If he did, AMONG MANY OTHER THINGS, he would have, at least, respected the federal court that ordered him to submit a “vault copy” of his birth certificate that would have proven he is a natural-born US citizen. Instead, this week, he and his lawyers let the 30-day deadline for disclosure expire. Here’s the latest on Berg vs. Obama: http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/obama_birth_certificate/2008/10/24/143882.html?s=al&promo_code=6E2D-1

Obama’s vision? His vision is for a radical, socialist, ultra-liberal, generationally welfare-dependent, infanticidal, cocaine-snorting, anti-Christian, anti-Jew, guilt-ridden, gun-banned, anti-business, chaotic, immoral, dysfunctional, weak-in-Defense and subordinate-to-United Nations America filled with illegal aliens using their valid social security cards and driver’s licenses to get tax-payer social benefits just like those that bankrupt California.

Obama’s great leadership in his own home turf of the Southside of Chicago gives us all a glimpse of how he’ll lead America. His Southside constituents are still very poor and disadvantaged, the area still has one of the worst education and literacy rates in the country and still crime-ridden. That’s signature Obama leadership at its finest.

Most people who move up in the corporate world or as Government civil servants have solid accomplishments in their resume that justify giving them top positions. Obama has no foreign policy or executive experience, and would not even be able to get a security clearance if he was working as a Government civil servant, appointee or contractor — a combination of his admitted cocaine use, refusal to provide college transcripts and Government student loan documents, his alliances with radical America-hating extremists and terrorist bombers of Government buildings, association with convicted slumlords, going to Pakistan when Americans were not allowed to, having dinners with Hamas supporters, campaigning for a murderous Kenyan radical communist — his cousin, Odinga, and influencing the Kenyan vote at US taxpayer’s expense, etc., etc., etc. would easily disqualify him from any level security clearance.

The public view of socialism is where I’m going with this.

I can’t help but realize all the people who have befitted from the government when the government disenfranchised half of it’s citizens.

And those corporate subsidies are paid right back to the government in the form of one of the highest corporate tax rates in the world, so that’s a wash. Besides that, you can look at the profit margin trends in American history and see that they are declining, so whatever subsidies corporations are getting are being eaten up in the form of competitive pressure and/or passing along the value of those subsidies to consumers, not shareholders.

If you are right that this is the “public’s” view of socialism, the public is wrong. Socialism causes everyone to lose with the exception of government bureaucrats, who gain lifelong employment at taxpayers’ expense. Period. Every single historical enactment of socialims proves this point beyond a shadow of a doubt.

When did the government “disenfranchise” half its citizens? If you are talking about the South post-Civil War, yes, promises were made that weren’t kept. And that is supposed to have benefitted me how? The thread of historical causation is pretty frayed at this point and I’ll certainly stand and fight on this point because unless you can provide proof of a tangible harm I’ve done, I refuse to accept any guilt over past actions by others, even if they share my skin pigment. Any rational person would say the same, although I am well aware of the irrationality of the average person.

The Republicans will then gain seats in Congress, and then, 2 years later, national security will carry the next presidential election. Obama will be out. He is Carter. He will prove to be all that Biden has said, untested, naive, not ready. We will just have to wait patiently and hope the global economy, and our own economy, does not completely fall apart in the meantime.

Will Jewish self hatred destroy Western Civilization

David Thompson, perhaps we should step back a moment and reflect on your question. How many Jewish people do you think there are …in the world? The number may surprise some folks.

How many in America? How many of those are of voting age? When we come to that number, I think you will review the “will Jewish self-hatred destroy Western Civilization” a bit overstated and perhaps a bit overwrought.

As for why Jewish Americans are liberal, that would take an analysis a bit too deep and broad for this venue. However, I am of the age…old enough to remember when the country clubs and other “clubby” Republican haunts were particularly unfriendly to certain segments of our society. Jewish people have a wonderful sense of perspective and are genetically imprinted to champion the underdog. But, to ask them to forget a wrong is one thing…to ask them to forget a slight is another.

I am of an age, old enough to remember the treatment of certain segments of our society, and I thought it wrong then and I think it is wrong now. The mistake that the Republican Party has made over these past years…is NOT that they hold onto the past sins and embrace them, but that they sit in wonder at the lingering bitterness and resentment those sins caused.

My heart is now, and always has been…with those who get picked on unfairly. I guess I am an anti-bully. Fair is fair, right is right, wrong is wrong.

My problem with Senator Obama is not that he comes from the left of center side of the political spectrum. So does Joe Lieberman. My problem, is that his closest lifelong relationships have been with people consumed with hate.

I do not, for one minute…think that African-American resentment and bitterness is based out of whole cloth imaginations. It is based upon a sordid and despicable past of horrific sins and transgressions. However, suggesting that those sins represent the modern Republican Party is a political sham.

It’s simply that there is no way that anyone is going to let them prove it. And the leftists who ate the liberals, own the other side. The Democratic Party is a vault of plantation politics…where giving a crust of bread is better than taking a beating. The “benevolent” master is better than the “malicious” one. This is a fraud in today’s America, but it has a root in history that has not been properly dug out of our soil.

Do I believe that liberals in general…and some Jewish liberals are now reacting in a knee-jerk response…that they are putting being seen as liberal over being principled as liberal?

Yes, to a large extent, I do. But don’t for a minute believe that I don’t blame equally the slights and slings and arrows that gave way to this bitterness and resentment. It’s a tough job for modern Republicans to wear the black eye of something I believe no longer exists as mainstream thought in their party. But to deny its existence, is to breathe life into the lies that keep the black eye swollen.

Senator Obama is in a special place, in a special moment in time. His lifelong associations and their worldviews are disturbing…even alarming. He has not shown enough distance from them. You won’t get people to understand or accept that position…if you harangue them for real slights they have endured. You have to drive them down their street, to get to your house.

Another View: it was Clinton who let Bin Laden get away. The CIA and the military could have taken Bin Laden down, but Clinton was too busy with Lewinsky and his impeachment trial. It was also Clinton who allowed Darfur to happen and didn’t do anything about it when the genocide was starting — he has even said that Darfur was his biggest “regret”.

Sanjay, you don’t know what Republicans and Conservatives have been giving to the poor and disadvantaged here and abroad so don’t be talking about us when you don’t know crap. It was George Bush who has spent more on humanitarian aid in Africa and funding for HIV and eradication of diseases like malaria, than any President before him and this is unbeknownst to the public, of course, because of the constant, vicious attacks and lies spread by Obama and the mainstream media. Here are sites that show what Bush has done for Africa and the BILLIONS OF DOLLARS he has given to his Africa initiatives, unlike the millionaire Obama who can’t even help his own poor relatives in Kenya: http://www.whitehouse.gov/infocus/africa/accomplishments.html and
http://www.powerlineblog.com/archives/2008/02/019810.php and

You can’t even compare all the tireless humanitarian and charity work MRS. She even adopted her daughter, Brigitte, from Mother Teresa’s orphanage http://abcnews.go.com/GMA/Story?id=5330040&page=1. CINDY MCCAIN is one philanthropist who walks the walk and talks the talk, unlike the ANGRY MRS. OBAMA who HAS NOT DONE ANYTHING FOR THE SOUTHSIDE OF CHICAGO WHEN SHE WAS HELPING HER HUSBAND ORGANIZE THAT COMMUNITY FOR YEARS THERE.

Sanjay & Scott F.: It was the DEMOCRATS who controlled Congress the past 2 years (I guess you don’t want that known), and it is Congress who controls the purse strings (you need to go to school to learn the difference between the executive and legislative branches). Once both Houses (again, CONTROLLED by DEMOCRATS and led by CALIFORNIA’S Premier Fema-Nazi NANCY PELOSI, and NEVADA SENATOR HARRY REID) agree to the proposed law or proposed budget, THEN the President signs it. The President can’t sign it into law if the DEMOCRAT-CONTROLLED Congress doesn’t first approve it.

As far as the housing/banking meltdown goes — besides the thousands of greedy mortgage lenders and irresponsible homebuyers, blame this mess on ALAN GREENSPAN who refused to regulate the system despite requests by BUSH Administration and MCCAIN and, instead, GREENSPAN lowered the interest rates repeatedly to historic lows, making more and more money and credit available (what an idiot). Also blame CONNECTICUT DEMOCRAT SENATOR CHRIS DODD AND MASSACHUSETTS DEMOCRAT banking committee Chair, BARNEY FRANK, who BOTH said there was nothing wrong with Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac and refused to fix the housing programs EVEN AFTER REPEATED REQUESTS BY BUSH AND MCCAIN (Frank, of course, didn’t want to upset his Fannie Mae exec boyfriend at the time — CONFLICT OF INTEREST anyone??). The other players in the collapse are the disgraced Wall Street executives who brought their companies down like FRANKLIN RAINES who received $90 million from Fannie Mae before ruining the housing program and now is an OBAMA ADVISOR ON HOUSING; JIM JOHNSON, ex-Fannie Mae and Countrywide executive who was involved in shady accounting fraud and is also an OBAMA ADVISOR; and, Lehman Bros. ex-CEO and LONG-TIME OBAMA SUPPORTER, RICHARD FULD, who received a $22 MILLION BONUS just THIS PAST MARCH!!!, only 6 months before Lehman Bros. filed for bankruptcy http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSN1341059120080914.

MR. & MRS. OBAMA, FRANKLIN RAINES, JIM JOHNSON, BARNEY FRANK, CHRIS DODD, NANCY PELOSI, HARRY REID, RICHARD FULD AND ALAN GREENSPAN are the RICH ELITISTS who care only about themselves and are quick to blame everything on Bush and McCain but won’t look at the mirror to see who the real phony hypocrites are.

My experiences with some elder family members of Republican Jewish friends makes me think that much of the older generation has never recognized the difference between Christianity as its practiced in the US and how it was practiced for centuries in Europe, which many of them fled.

Identifying Republicans with the Christian right, many instinctively fear the political assertiveness of Christianity in the US, without acknowledging that Christian Evangelicals in the US today are probably more pro-Israel and pro-Jewish than anybody in the world.

Add to that how Jews were for years denied enrollment in many elite schools and country clubs (associated with Republicans) and an undying reverence for Roosevelt for defeating the Nazis, and they’re simply deeply and emotionally loyal to the Democrats. The tendency to turn a blind eye to the antisemitic rhetoric just under the surface in so many contemporary Democratic factions is pretty amazing. But I think that’s only made possible because these factions have been marginalized so far.

This is actually something that I could see changing pretty dramatically during an Obama administration, as Obama’s pro-Jewish rhetoric is completely inconsistent with many of his political positions and those of his friends and associates.

We’re not at a time in our history when we can afford the luxury of one who pleases the eye and ear, but assaults every measure of common sense.

Don’t we have quite enough on our plates right now — why add another?

“I am of an age, old enough to remember the treatment of certain segments of our society”

I am very aware of the “gentleman’s agreement” era of some fifty years ago. But that is still a long time ago. One therefore has a moral and intellectual right to question the maturity of such individuals mired in the past—to the point where they are now indulging in highly self destructive behavior. We are, after all, not talking about eight year old children. The very fact that Barack Obama attended a racist and anti-Semitic church should unhesitatingly disqualify him from serious consideration. There is also another point that must not be ignored: some studies indicate that evangelical Protestants have more love and concern for Israel than perhaps most American Jews. What’s wrong with this picture? Why are we witnessing countless American Jews sliming on Sarah Palin? I’m convinced that they are going out of their way to find fault merely because of her Christian faith. In other words, these Jews are bigots! I should add that I am not a Christian, but a theological modernist. Folks like ourselves can ill afford to alienate our allies in the current fight to the death on behalf of Western Civilization.

I honestly do not think any Republican has a chance in this year’s election. We have had eight solid years of the Bushitler rhetoric and all the various permutations of BDS, the constant hammering by the media against the application of the Bush Doctrine, and the dull, inexorable march of socialist indoctrination in our education system. The other side has assiduously set up the battlespace to favor them overwhelmingly. Most people do not spend the the time to really learn the facts: they settle for being “informed” by the traditional Big Media, which we know is part of the propaganda machine.

Yes, McCain COULD have run a better campaign, but I still think he was facing strong headwinds. And you have to wonder about the timing of the short selling activity in the markets back in early September that set this all off. It seems it was another timely move to set up the battlespace to favor Obama.

The overwhelming attack machine that pounced on Sarah Palin right away was masterfully done. Ditto with Joe the Plumber.

The enemy controlled the battlespace, which means he dictates the outcome.

Oct 25, 2008 - 12:17 pm 64. Cybercorrespondent:

Financial Crisis and the Way to Recovery

The term “shocking” can’t even come close to describe the severity of the financial crisis that we are faced with. According to Barack Obama, the only way we can get out of this mess is for this country to adapt socialistic values and enforce socialism by gaining control of all three branches of government. I’m sure that the mountain of money his campaign has collected from domestic and foreign donors, names the Obama campaign won’t disclose, will be used for that purpose. As soon as total control is gained, organizations like ACORN will have a green light to further abuse the law to suppress free speech, control the outcomes of elections and brain wash children in schools to believe that socialism is the answer to all of our problems. With total control of the government, and help from people like Bill Ayers, Rev. Wright and Antoin Rezko, who will probably be pardoned, achieving the ultimate goal, “a life of sexual confusion and moral collapse” will become a strong possibility.
The proof that socialism, or spreading the wealth around does not work can be seen by examining ACORN and its accomplishments by manipulating bancs to make loans to minorities with bad credit. By using charges of racism and threats to use CRA to block business expansions, ACORN and Obama already contributed to the crises we are in today and finding new ways to distribute the wealth will only make the situation much worse. His idea to put a three-month moratorium on foreclosures will further weaken the already fragile banking industry and only benefit delinquent homeowners by allowing them to live rent-free.
In order for our economy to start prospering again, we first need to elect an honest leader who is determined to stamp out the corruption in government and to stop the leftist movement from destroying the middle class. The hard working people can no longer be expected to keep giving until they themselves have nothing left to give.

I am very aware of the “gentleman’s agreement” era of some fifty years ago. But that is still a long time ago.

David, your calendar and mine do not coincide. I witnessed this 25 years ago, it was ugly then, and time has not made it any prettier. The passage of time doesn’t “cure” it, only an overt repudiation can make it better. “Get over it” simply won’t cut it, it’s a poor attitude for persuasion.

One therefore has a moral and intellectual right to question the maturity of such individuals mired in the past—to the point where they are now indulging in highly self destructive behavior. We are, after all, not talking about eight year old children.

This sounds eerily familiar. Didn’t Senator Obama make nearly the exact argument for why Ayers doesn’t matter? I believe he was dead wrong and missed the point. How about you?

The very fact that Barack Obama attended a racist and anti-Semitic church should unhesitatingly disqualify him from serious consideration.

The fact that he attended a racist and anti-Semitic church does not automatically do anything, except raise a legitimate question. Unless and until that question is given broader meaning, it doesn’t hit it’s mark, it shoots blanks. The point is…what OTHER evidence is there of an attachment to worldviews that are alarming and disturbing. Taken in context, as a whole…rather than in a vacuum…one can make a case. Without context, the case is empty.

“Some studies” show alien abductions and global warming caused by cow farts and all manner of things. I don’t think that separating out one set of hyperpartisan leftists from another is particularly instructive. I don’t see any groundswell of religious persecution at work here, I see typical leftist frothing…not very dissimilar from the Koz Kidz “Jew Lieberman” campaign. Extremists being extremists…and religious affiliation was a sideshow, not a main event. I don’t buy the American Jewish community as bigots argument. I think playing the reverse race or religion card is equally unappealing as its converse argument.

It sheds heat but no light on the subject and is not particularly persuasive for critical thinkers.

I’ve heard much made of McCain’s disconnected campaign. his campaign says one thing, while he says another.

People expect the candidate to keep his hands clean, to act Presidential. The VP candidate, for that reason, is the attack dog. (Palin has been doing a truly excellent job at this, by the way.)

However, McCain runs a lot of negative ads. There are two reasons for this, both legitimate:

First, Obama is undefined. He is new to the scene. People don’t know him. So, he needs to be vetted… and when he is, it is ALL very UGLY!

Second, the press is supposed to be doing this ugly attacking, but they refuse. Au contraire, they actually work to soften the damage of anything that IS exposed.

So, the McCain campaign is trying to do both jobs. Thus the seeming disconnection. It is very real. Two jobs. Disconnection.

Oct 25, 2008 - 2:33 pm 78. Marc Malone:

Regarding the Jews, there is an historical basis for the seeming betrayal of their race. Just look to early Nazi Germany. Many Jews went out of their way to repudiate their Jewish background. They did their utmost to demonstrate their loyalty as Germans. When the Nazis got into full power, they came for the Jews anyway. Same thing in the USSR. Same thing in Muslim countries.

It doesn’t matter if a Jew doesn’t consider himself a Jew, because the rest of the world will always see him as a Jew. Secular Jews never understand this. “See how enlightened I am!” – “That’s nice. Into the oven, now! That’s a good Jew.”

I know this about Jews. Half of them never, ever learn from history, because they’re too busy fleeing the strict world of Rabbinical Law and Jewish faith. Then, that half betrays the other half who do learn from history and keep to their faith.

It’s not up to the State;
It has always been up to the “Registrar of Voters” of the county of residence, to verify the voter registration before issuing a ballot.

The “Registrar of Voters” has full discretion. Any & all “Signed Applications” become the property of the State, the very second an application is signed (irregardless whether the name is “Donald Duck” or “Mickey Mouse”).
Any tampering, alterations, non-submitals, destruction, etc. is a felony. Therefore irregardless whoever collects signatures must return the “Application for Voters Registration” to the “Registrar” under law. So all this garbage you hear about Acorn is simply that, Garbage, and an attempt to explain it otherwise is deceit of how the legal system actually works.

If you believe just half of the stories coming out of the McCain campaign, who could possibly want this team in the White House? Palin is convinced that she is the future of the Republican Party. This is what happens when you surround yourself with sycophants and like-minded followers. You lose track of reality and your rightful place in it. She has criticized several McCain decisions about the campaign and is ignoring the advice of her handlers. She has also openly criticized the early part of the campaign when she was not allowed to talk to the media. As if she would have handled unscripted interviews any better than she did with Katie Couric. John McCain had no idea what he was getting into when he chose Palin as his running-mate. He knew nothing about her background or her personailty. All he knew is what he had been told, which is that she would attract the base of the party. That was enough for John McCain. Forget that she might actually have to become president some day. The day he chose Palin, this campaign was over.

cfbleachers – Let’s see 3 years as a Senator equals qualified to lead our nation. I don’t think so. And then there is Germany. Canceled his visit with the wounded troops but made it to the gym and ALL photo shoots. Add in the reasons you have stated and one has to ask how devoted this man is going to be to our national defense and the jobs that go with it. Obama has kept everyone from seeing who he really is. One has to ask why he would go to such lengths as of course you are. Three years and no clear view of the man other than what he wants us to see. A clear distain for our troops as Commander and Chief. And then there is this comment I had to his earlier slam at McCain for going to Washington during the budget crises. “These are Senators. They belong in Washington during a crisis. Regardless of the impact on the presidential race. Their job is to be in Congress not on the campaign trail or in a debate. This is the second time Obama has failed to return to Washington during a crisis. The first time was the Russia crisis when he stayed on vacation. You can all say what you want to satisfy your reasons to support one candidate or the other but the fact is they took an oath to serve the public and that service is as a Senator IN Washington not put something out on the internet and hold a press conference. Obama’s people are actually slamming a US Senator for doing the job he is being paid for while their man is a no show. By the way it doesn’t matter if they can contribute to the bail out or not their duty is to be in the halls of Congress not campaigning. Everyone bitches when they don’t do their job and apparently when they do. You cannot have it both ways”. – raycar – San Jose, CA

Palin is simply distancing herself from Mccain for a fialed campaign. Her “rogueness” is a sign of what is to come… she is trying to say that a) she tried hard with Mccain, and b) she also was able to distance herself from him and his failing ideas at the last minute in their courtship together in a failed campaign. Because she knows just as well as any other American does, once Mccain loses, all of the reporters and the whole of the Republican party is going to point the finger of blame to Sarah Palin. We are simply witnessing her attempt to fight back against that mounting pressure now folks. She will be answering to the public for years… years.. and years, until the Republicans maybe have a chance to regain the presidency in 2020.

On 5 November, the revolution begins..

This is, I believe, yet another of those threads on this site that should be printed off or otherwise saved for re-reading sometime deep into the miserable (but, sadly, inevitable) reign of The Messiah.

As with many others, it is anchored by an insightful post by the inestimable “CFBleachers” and supported by many prescient observations — less the usual troll and ‘I hate Bush and the Republicans’ drive-bys, of course.

I fear we may be somewhat disappointed on 4 November but that does not diminish my enthusiasm or eagerness for championing McCain and Palin over the hapless duo of “Ears” and “Plugs” and their thugocracy. I have voted for them and I work for McCain’s campaign..in California yet!

I just lament those who are so intent on punishing the GOP by voting Obama in. For any of the arguments they may raise in support of a change of direction can be addressed directly by McCain and Palin as opposed to Obama and Biden.

McCain has stuck it to his own party when he felt they went astray as has Palin in upsetting Republican incumbent in her own state. Obama has warmed up failed liberal Democrat policies and Biden has done nothing — absolute zip — in his four decades as a member of congress except run his mouth and provide entertainment because of his consummate stupidity. Obama raised the issue and — strangely enough — McCain and Palin are two real-life practitioners of outside-the-beltway change as one could have hoped for.

Bu then, if Obama is what the people want, then they will vote that way. I feel that two years hence, when the dust has settled, those folks will have awakened, hung over, and (even more) regretful of the pack of clowns in Washington than they were when they originally cast their ballot.

I hope a lot of us here on this site will not go away, but stay on for the fight that may commence on 5 November. We should forget the recriminations (i.e., were McCain and Palin the best choices?) and begin a full-tilt boogie of analysis, investigation, and criticism (where warranted) of the certain Obama/Biden/Pelosi/Reid missteps. I also hope the trolls can stick around so they can get an earful of the invectives rained down on them.

But, sadly, once Obama is elected, the campaign will discharge them from their payroll and they’ll be on the bricks looking for real work.

I think the article is bang on and I might add that she seems to be an ambitious bully (see ethical misconduct in the firing of her Police Chief) who gets away with it because she’s an attractive woman and has honed her beauty queen charm to get what she wants. Make no mistake, she is loyal to no one including John McCain or the Republican party; it’s all about Sarah, she’s in the spotlight now and she’s not going to give that up. She’s not going to tie her horse to a loser like McCain, she is positioning herself for 2012, but mark my words, the Republican party will not embrace her like you think they will. She was a rent a player with style but little substance for this election and despite the right wing talk show jocks talking her up, privately they know she is a light weight and will not back her in 2012, just like the rest of the party won’t back her.

She’s been used by McCain and Republican’s and now she’s using them to hold on the spotlight despite being on a losing ticket.

This girl has ambition, but she will never be President of the United States. Her being the attack dog for McCain and not knowing the issues to even the degree that a high schooler would know them has permanently damaged her for the future. She lies for the party and you know they are lying talking points, because she doesn’t know anything, she’s simply a wind up Caribou Barbie that can talk; but can’t think.

American’s (at least most of them) realize that she is an empty skirt, and quite possibly all of us are smarter than her; but she is a good performer, she will probably end up with a show on Fox once she is no longer Governor of Alaska.

The Ayers lies have been firmly put to bed.

[i]. . . McCain is not accurate when he says – as he does in the Web ad – “When their relationship became an issue, Obama just responded, ‘This is a guy who lives in my neighborhood.’ ” McCain is using the same line in personal appearances, too. He said on Oct. 9 at a campaign rally in Waukesha, Wis. . .

. . . [b]What we object to are the McCain-Palin campaign’s attempts to sway voters – in ads and on the stump – with false and misleading statements about the relationship, which was never very close. Obama never “lied” about this, just as he never bragged about it.[/b] The foundation they both worked with was hardly “radical.” . . .[/i]

This BS about there being some connection between the two that rises to any level of concern is BS.

Pretty well every honest journalist that has looking in this alleged relationship says there is nothing there of any consequence. That crap about Ayers holding a fundraiser for Obama in his house, or helping Obama launch his political careers from his house have all turned out to be lies. Professional liars like Savage, Hannutty, Limpbaugh, an-Qoulter etc. know that the people who listen to them aren’t smart enough to check things like FEC records where ALL fundraisers have to be reported.

I’ll let his work argue the first part of my case.

I have also my intuitive sense to guide me. The Palin nomination when it was announced energized the conservative base. I do not accept, despite the herculean effort by the MSM to smear her, that she has been a net negative for Mac. Indeed, if McCain pulls off a victory, the choice will be lauded as a brilliant political move. We conservatives know our own, and she is most definitely one of us.

I know that right now the conservative base is seething with indignation. Joe the Plumber is one of us, too. The effort to diminish him is an attack on our cherished values: hard work, deferred gratification, and self-reliance. The MSM is shooting itself in the foot with every condescending remark. As does Obama with his smirking commentary.

No, this thing is not over yet by a longshot. I have not owned a television for two years, so I’m likely better inoculated against the poison than most. We remain a right of center nation despite what the MSM would have us believe. Demographic trends do not change quickly. It would take generations to move this nation socially toward a European model. Yet the country remains divided roughly in thirds, Democrat, Republican and independent. Shake off the poision, brothers and sisters. We can win this thing.

Forgetting about the old lies by her like her claiming that she didn’t support the Bridge to Nowhere; where she continued to whine for the money for the bridge even after Congress has killed it.

Her recent claims that the investigation into her in Alaska found nothing wrong, right after said investigation documented that she violated state ethics rules was the cherry on the cake.

This will truly divide the nation and the enemies of this great nation cannot wait to see that. For the sake of the future of this country, I pray that you guys can be a good loser on Nov. 5th. And sorry for your loss! It was mainly your own doing. You elected the dumbest person in your party twice and followed him to the gates of hell. Your cowboy mentality blurred your vision at a time that needs wisdom more than ever. You are losing because you have been dishonest and all you have done is to attack Obama. Correct your behavior and the american people may give you another chance in 4 years. Until then, I am gonna get Foxnews channel and enjoy my evenings!

I am sure the reasonable people will remember that there are people in this world, like the ones that flew planes into out buildings, that mean us more harm, hey we can sick Barney Frank on them, that ought to scare them. Why would the government SEAL Obama’s birth records if he was not born in Kenya? Me smells a RAT.

Elect John McCain and Sarah Palin and let’s get back to solving our issues WITHOUT communism and grow our country without socialism.

Im gonna be reasonable, the race is over if Obama wins either Colorado, Virginia, North Carolina, Florida, Ohio or Indiana or Missouri. The case is that Warner has endorsed Obama and people living in Va trust Warner. Currently Virginia is lean Obama same with Colorado. The election is over pretty much, there is a 30 minute presentation that will attract independents on what Obama has to say and that’ll put another 3 to 5 point bounce in his direction during the week of Nov 4th. With all that said, that is my 2 cents and i am still undecided, but i do look heavily at the electoral maps and this ones going to the Democrats. A good strat is not to turn independent voters off with negative blogging because you are losing major points by doing so and as we can see the map is turning bluer than blue and it will take a bipartisan effort to pull our economy out of this great depression, not arguing or stalemates in the last 2 years.

Oct 25, 2008 - 8:01 pm 98. Frank W:

Well Will, if what you say is true, then you are not going to get much arguement out of that bunch, but I do not think you will like the results. It is hard to tax your way out of a depression. Rich people pay no taxes, they pass it down to you and me. Rich people hire poor people and middle class people. Poor people do not hire anyone. Arguements are what makes the system work, they have been argueing since the beginning of the Union. The problem is, the Democrats stax and spend, and the republicans got in there and acted like democrats, and people threw them out. You get Obama, then we are all going to get the Change, and it is not going to get us out of a deppression, if a little debate turns you off, so be it. Obama is the canoe that will take us over Niagra Falls. Maybe you want to take that ride, but not me.

Kuni, OBAMA is The LIAR, not Palin. He said he was going to take federal campaign funds, then in the middle of the contest, he changes his mind so that his followers’ contributions are endless, without a blink. Obama lied.

Obama said Ayers is “just a guy in my neigborhood.” Hey idiot, you were on boards with him; he launched your political career from his living room; you wrote an endorsement for Ayers in Ayers’ book; and the Chicago Annenberg Challenge, an education reform group co-founded by Bill Ayers in 1995 was chaired by you from 1995 to 1999 http://pajamasmedia.com/blog/obama-ayers-and-the-annenberg-challenge-cover-up/. Obama lied.

Obama said he never heard the racist, anti-American rantings of his beloved sicko reverend Jeremiah Wright. But he admits he went to services at Wright’s Trinity Church for 20 years. 20 YEARS??? Obama lied.

Obama won’t release his college transcripts and thesis. What are you hiding from America, Mr. Liar? Will it show that he had horrible grades maybe or that he was a closet Communist even back then?

Obama has provided ONE (1) page of medical history, while McCain has provided 1500 PAGES! of medical history. What are you hiding from America, Mr. Liar? The cocaine use (or abuse) maybe??

McCain had his citizenship qualifications vetted and then he provided his birth certificate to federal authorities to prove that even though he was born overseas by his US Navy admiral father and American mother, he was still eligible to run for president because he is TRULY a natural-born US citizen in accordance with the law. UNLIKE OBAAAAAMA. A FEDERAL Court under a FEDERAL lawsuit gave Mr. Liar 30 days to provide a vault copy of his birth certificate. But guess what? He lets the 30 days lapse without providing ANYTHING. What are you hiding, Mr. Liar? The fact that you are NOT truly a natural-born US citizen perhaps? His computer-generated Live Birth in Hawaii is a sham because the real birth certificates from the 1960s were typewritten and he can’t come up with one of those. http://www.newsmax.com/headlines/obama_birth_certificate/2008/10/24/143882.html?s=al&promo_code=6E2D-1

And it doesn’t matter that the case was dismissed by Judge Surrick — THE FACT REMAINS THAT MR. LIAR DID NOT PROVIDE A BIRTH CERTIFICATE THAT PROVES HE’S ELIGIBLE TO RUN FOR PRESIDENT. Like a good lawyer, he was able to get the suit dismissed by technicalities. What a coward.

Obama is the biggest sham of all and has run the biggest scam campaign ever. His $800K to the supposedly non-partisan ACORN proves that.

On to the Supreme Court for Berg vs. Obama.

OBAMA REFUSES TO ANSWER BIRTH CERTIFICATE LAWSUIT

By: Kenneth R. Timmerman

A Pennsylvania lawsuit alleging that Barack Obama is not a “natural-born citizen” of the United States took an unusual twist this week, after a federally mandated deadline requiring Obama’s lawyers to produce a “vault” copy of his birth certificate expired with no response from Obama or his lawyers.

The lawsuit, filed by former Pennsylvania Deputy Attorney General Philip J. Berg — a self-avowed supporter of Hillary Clinton — alleges that Barack Obama was born in Kenya and is thus “ineligible” to run for president of the United States. It demands that Obama’s lawyers produce a copy of his original birth certificate to prove that he is a natural-born U.S. citizen.

Berg’s suit and allegations have set off a wave of Internet buzz and rumors, though Obama could easily have put the matter to rest by providing the federal court with the basic documentation proving he is eligible to take the oath of a president. But Obama has apparently decided to deny the court and the public that documentation.

The Constitution provides that any U.S. citizen is eligible to become president if the person is 35 years of age or older and is a natural-born citizen; that is, born in the territorial United States.

By failing to respond to the Request for Admissions and Request for the Production of Documents within 30 days, Obama has “admitted” that he was born in Kenya, Berg stated this week in new court filings.

Berg released a long list of “admissions” he submitted to Obama’s lawyers on Sept. 15, and asked that they produce documents relating to Obama’s place of birth and citizenship.

Instead of responding, lawyers for Obama and the DNC asked the court to dismiss the case. But Judge R. Barclay Surrick of the Eastern District of Pennsylvania has issued no ruling in the case that would have given Obama’s lawyers more time.

“There are lots of legal ways to stonewall,” a well-placed Republican attorney told Newsmax, who was not authorized to comment officially on the case. “But failing to respond is not one of them.”

“The first thing they teach you in law school,” he added, “is don’t put a complaint like this in a drawer. That’s how a nuisance case can become a problem.”

The 30-day deadline for defendants to comply with a discovery request is set forth in the Federal Rules of Civil Procedures.

“It all comes down to the fact that there’s nothing from the other side,” Berg said after he filed a motion on Thursday for summary judgment.

“The admissions are there. By not filing the answers or objections, the defense has admitted everything. [Obama] admits he was born in Kenya. He admits he was adopted in Indonesia. He admits that the documentation posted online is a phony. And he admits that he is constitutionally ineligible to serve as president of the United States.”

Allegations surrounding Obama’s place of birth have been swirling for months. Earlier this year, the Obama campaign sought to put down the rumors by making available a computer-generated Certification of Live Birth, issued in 2007 by the State of Hawaii.

However, the 2007 document produced by the Obama campaign omits key information that normally appears on birth certificates in the United States, including the name of the hospital where he was born, the size and weight of the baby, and sometimes the name of the doctor who delivered him.

In addition, the critics of the 2007 document note that Obama’s father is described as “African,” a term used today. The formal language in official documents at the time — 1961 — would have identified his race as “Negro” or “Colored.”

The Web site snarkybytes.com has produced a vault copy of a Hawaii Certificate of Live Birth from 1963, issued by the Hawaii Department of Health. [See the vault copy — Click Here.]

In addition to naming the hospital and more details about the baby, the 1963 vault copy also includes the “usual residence of the mother,” and the “usual occupation” of the father. None of this information appears on the 2007 Live Birth certificate produced by the Obama campaign.

In recent weeks, lawsuits have been filed in seven additional states demanding that Barack Obama produce an original vault copy of his birth certificate, to dispel the rumors that he is not a natural-born United States citizen.

The latest suits have been filed in state and federal courts in Hawaii, Washington, California, Florida, Georgia, New York, and Connecticut to compel Obama to release his birth records.

Lawsuits in Washington and Georgia are seeking state superior courts to force the states’ secretary of state, as the chief state elections officer, to require Obama to produce original birth records from Hawaii, or else decertify him as a candidate for the presidency.

Lawyers for Obama and the DNC did not return calls for comment on the current status of the case, or explain why the Obama campaign did not simply put to rest the whole controversy by releasing his birth certificate.

In the past, questions about Sen. John McCain’s legal status have arisen. McCain was born in the Panama Canal Zone at a U.S. Army hospital. McCain had legal experts vet his constitutional qualifications, and he also disclosed a copy of his birth certificate.

They wouldn’t let me run for small-town city mayor unless I could qualify. I don’t see how Obama is being considered since he can’t produce the basic required documents to run.

He’s apparently a fraud, said Berg.

EVERY former President has stated one fact: “Nobody’s background makes them ready to be President”….Two years ago, the campaign for POTUS began. There were a cast of a dozen (give or take) politicians who aspired to the highest office. Some (McCain, Biden, Richardson) had Foreign Policy gravitas…Some (Guilliani, Huckabee, Romney) had strong Executive experience….Others had various degrees of experience in each or both…OK here’s the reality: The only common measuring stick that can be applied to EVERYONE is their respective campaigns…It’s been noted that Walls St employees gave money to the Obama campaign in farily impressive numbers (for a Dem)…They asked Obama “why should I donate money to you. You’re not as experienced as some of your competitors”….Obama replied, “watch how I run my campaign.”…..The campaign for POTUS IS a long running job interview. Remember, your RESUME (background, experience) get’s you the interview. The INTERVIEW get’s you the job…Note how all of the campaigns have been run..Which candidates had financial success? (Clinton, Obama)…Which had organizational success (Obama)…Who’s campaign managed their money well (Obama, McCain)…Who mismanaged their money (Clinton, Romney)…At the end of the day, Obama’s been in the interview bubble for almost 2 years…During this time, he’s grown as a candidate…He’s also had a noticeable effect of forcing his opponents into bad decisions and mistakes…It will be hard for any “breakthrough” story during the last week because most people expect a heightened level of discourse and smears…This should be understood since the “non-vetted” Obama has already been throught the GOP smear machine (see Terrorist, Marxist, Socialist, Communist, etc)..Like it or not, Obama’s winning the job because he’s conducted the best campaign..During the process, he’s come across as a comfortable choice for most voters (per polls)…The detractors keep underestimating the guy…He’s winning because he’s showing himself to be the best candidate for the job. Period.

Re: “Frequent trips to Iowa and a newfound concentration on Pennsylvania have left conservatives scratching there heads. … Why hasn’t McCain planted himself or his running mate in Colorado, or better still in Virginia.”

Because if McCain doesn’t turn some presently polling blue states red, it won’t make a bit of difference how Colorado and Virginia vote. If he keeps all presently polling red states + Iowa + Penn. = 232 Rep vs 231 Dem. with 75 EC votes up in the air. That’s a winnable race. A real toss-up. Also, if he manages to close the gap anywhere, then his polling will pick up all over.

Also, much of Obama’s overall support is “wasted” votes. I mean his massive leads in states where McCain doesn’t stand a chance anyway.

Oh, my #109. How differently we see things.

It was precisely the way Obama ran his early campaigns for office that gave me pause about him.

And it is precisely the way he’s run this campaign that has confirmed for me my early suspicions that he’s unfit for high office.

All the rest — and there is much of it — only adds to that initial assessment of his character and judgment.

You may be much like the family member I just spoke with – Obama’s poor character and judgment don’t phase her. She’s someone who has a history of poor judgment herself and has shown a lack of character from time to time.

I suppose she doesn’t yet realize that these things affect one’s decision-making. That character and judgment are critically important in anyone who would accept a position of power.

She’s mainly concerned, I think, with self. Immature and lacking discernment, she finds no fault in the fellow narcissist, Obama. And she’s an over-60 grandmother.

It’s really quite amazing. But I’m afraid there are a good number like her out there.

Pretty on target. It’s over. My Mom has voted Republican since Nixon. She was, as a Northern moderate, going with McCain until she found out just how deep Palin is into the Fundie, Christian Zionist and extreme anti-abortion stuff. And not ready for the job she was picked for.

My two brothers and Dad are, like me, ex-officers. 3 of us have shifted to Obama, though we will vote Republican for the Congress and state& local offices. Basically, on concluding McCain shows a lack of vision and is saddled to 30-year old ideas, is untrustworthy and treacherous, hasn’t a clue on the economy, and wants a 3rd war – Iran – which all of us think will be a horrific mistake unless NATO, Russia, and the Sunni nations all agree it must be done.

(As for McCain deserving the job because he was a POW and suffered – my Dad is very unsympatheic to that, as a Vietnam combat Vet who nearly bled out from shrapnel to his liver..and killed and saw comrades killed and maimed…and he sent many of them to that fate…”So he served and suffered. BFD. Then I should be a mayor or Congressman if that is what matters and Fernandez in a wheelchair deserves to be a Senator…But Fernandez is a foolish guy now, and was a foolish guy then..)

The last bro’ is furious with Republicans (he played by the rules, prudently invested, has no credit card debt and saved up to put 20% down on his new house – only to see his investments 50% destroyed since last October and his house worth 80K less than when he bought it because so many other surplus houses were built for people unable to afford the mortgage payments now that all homes had value destroyed by oversupply.)

But he buys into the idea that Obama is a clever, stealthy gay Marxist and a secret Muslim..

In the executive search industry, when a firm is presenting a candidate to an organization for serious consideration, you often hear bullet statements that target specific accomplishments and present a proven ‘clean’ track record.

In various forms, this is what is essentially said:

What he/she has done for others, he/she can also do for you!

Bullet statements about Obama’s very limited scope of accomplishments mostly identify a trend towards a very manipulative form of organized political strong-arming.

We can expect exactly that…
Once Obama gets his ticket punched, he will assume the role of a concentric magistrate focused on extending the powers and authority of government in all directions without much restraint and with a great deal of manipulation.

Required, “open voting,” for Union workers will be the first step of a control focused agenda.

We can all expect to see our individualism swallowed up in this process.

In the Army the expression “Shake ‘n Bake” is a disparaging term that is frequently used to describe newly minted 2nd Lieutenants and NCOs’ who had little or no previous leadership knowledge or tactical operations in Army, prior to being promoted. A Shake ‘n Bake leader was one of the lesser-known evils to come out of the Vietnam War, and infect the Army. These individuals would attend a leadership school for up to 12 weeks and graduate as a Sergeant E5 or 2nd Lieutenant, they had zero experience, may have been slightly skilled, and all had an enormous ego. In combat the Shake ’n Bake graduates suffered a casualty rate of over five percent which was considered to be higher than the average. What is not known was the casualty rate of the soldiers under their command, which was a direct result of their lack of combat or nay other leadership experience under fire. The metaphor “Shake ‘n Bake” characterizes Senator Obama’s absolute lack of experience perfectly, no other representation is needed.

Now having said that: What is there in Obama’s record that would lead us to believe that he can solve finacial problems? Nothing. What is in the record of the Democrat Congress that would lead us to believe that they can solve financial problems? Actually they created most of them with their constan spending and their government programs, holding up Frannie and Freddie, Like Barney Frank, and Chris Dodd. Now everyone knows that Nancy Pelosi is a San Francisco politican, she would not ever get elected anywhere in this country, she is running a congress with a 17 percent approval rating, worse than Bush. Now you put that mess in Congress with Obama signing in on their agenda, what do you get? A Socialist European type of country, and probably a depression with a weakened military, with a growing muslim extremeism and not to mention Russia and China, and a Nukes in the hands of despots. Obama is promising to solve all our problems, How is he going to pay for it ? RAXES TAXES TAXES. The whole country will be like the rust belt. Oct 26, 2008 - 6:45 am 123. Tim0:

Why is McCain losing?
1. Most people in America want the troops out of Iraq and a greater emphasis on Afganistan and bin Laden.
2. Most people realize that tax cuts for the wealthy in concert with a lack of regulation haven’t resulted in that money trickling down, but rather, have resulted in the very wealthiest people having so much money that they throw both capitalism and democracy out of whack — capitalism, by the ability to control supply and push prices up beyond where they should be — this is tied to the lack of regulation of hedge fund investments and investment banks — democracy by the influence that a handful of very wealthy people have in controlling legislation and thereby limiting competition ( i.e., legislation and appropriations that would promote alternative energy sources).
3. The very vocal far-radical right. These people turn-off independents and moderates as well the rest of the country. The need of the republican party to have these people on their side resulted in McCain’s shift from a reasonable moderate choice to a candidate that many people see as a man who has sold his soul in order to get these votes.
4. McCain’s lack of clear-cut proposals to take this country in a new direction. The statements of “I know how to do it” just don’t fly — you have to tell people what it is that you plan to do.
5. The Palin choice. This choice was catering to the far -radical right mentioned above. Most people simply don’t trust that she is capable of being vice-president and certainly not president if the need should arise.
6. McCain’s response to the economic crisis as opposed to Obama’s. It’s true that the economy favors the democrats, but McCain could have mitigated this with a clear-cut and steady response, but didn’t.
7. McCain’s advisors. Phil Gramm, Carley Firona, Rick Davis, etc… have all been detrimental — whereas Obama has surrounded himself with a team of competent and respected individuals — the effect is simply a greater degree of confidence in Obama.
8. The republican party’s refusal to step back and realize that they needed to revamp their message and potentially their ideologies to better fit the needs of the country as it is at the present time. If they conservatives who represent the republicans in the media don’t tone down their rhetoric that insinuates that everybody who isn’t a white, evangelical christian, isn’t a “real- American” and is an idiot, then the republicans will continue to lose — the country is becoming more diverse, not less so — and they are driving people away from the republican party in droves.

TruthHurts: Obama is winning because the leftist mainstream media is saying he’s winning. We got the same poll numbers in 2000 and 2004, but Bush won both years.

Look around at the McCain-Palin events — sold out and many people being turned away because they’re jam-packed and all that the MSM shows is McCain & Palin at the podium — no views of the gigantic crowds. The BBC surprisingly showed Nevada’s huge turnout for McCain/Palin and how Nevadans, especially those in Las Vegas, are angry at Obama and Obama’s constant lies and using his ‘blackness’ to get the minority, guilt-ridden elitist and the downtrodden’s vote. It was great footage, for a change.

Obama’s ‘95% of the people will get a tax cut’ is losing traction. No one believes that lie — at least no one with half a brain. Everyone knows Obama wants to SPEND A TRILLION DOLLARS IN DOMESTIC, SOCIAL WELFARE PROGRAMS. Where is he going to get the revenue to pay for his outrageous programs??? Through TAXES, stupid. He will RAISE YOUR TAXES, AND THAT’S EVERYONE. Not just the over $250K couples and businesses, but EVERYONE, including the small businesses who we need to create jobs. The numbers don’t add up. Remember we are already IN A RECESSION, SO HOW WILL HE PAY FOR ADDITIONAL SPENDING???? Yeah, it’s the economy, stupid, and Obama will destroy it even further.

Khorat – Thanks for the clear info. Now as I have always understood it (I am 65 years old and one week younger then God per my wife) the candidate HAS to produce verified documentation on any qualification requirement requested before they can be sworn in as president. Obama has clearly been asked to verify his birth country. Also the election is not a guarantee that the person that wins the popular vote will be chosen for the presidency. The electoral collage picks the president and if this matter of legality is not cleared up by Obama they are bound by the law and their constituents to NOT vote for Obama because of serious questions about eligibility he refuses to clarify. ALSO if he is not eligible he has robbed Hillary Clinton of her historical moment. He has lied to the Democratic Party and all of those who voted for him. He has taken tens of millions of dollars from contributors under false pretenses which is a felony and he should be tried and put in prison if convicted. I guarantee that an exception to this birth requirement will not be applied to our California Governor so where do people get off believing Obama will get a pass instead of a trial for fraud. – raycar – San Jose, CA – keep it legal or the country is lost

1) The MSM is doing their best to discourage Republicans from voting, and fence-sitters from either voting, or voting McCain.
2) ACORN and the radical left are doing all they can to faudulently stuff the ballot boxes
3) Question-what happens if it is proven Hussein is not American born? Do the Dem fanatics and MSM alter the rules to suit their power-grabbing needs?
4) About every four letter word, dirty low-down behavior and every criminal activity short of murder and rape (literal) have been utilized by the leftists and the MSM to secure this election for Hussein.
5) There is a chance that McCain can still win, but he does need a no-nonsense, no holds barred, hard hitting and well-defined message about international enemies of America and the danger they continue to pose, the inexperience of Hussein in dealing with anything beyond back-room corruption and socialist dealings. Both he and Palin need to be out there everyday, all the time, hammering home clearly defined stances.
6) Given the quasi-criminal activities of the Dems and their no-ethics/morals/values constituents, anyone who doesn’t believe that Hussein will shut down the conserviative/Christian talk-show business, grab every gun (and gunowner) as quickly as possible, put a final and fatal blow to the US oil drilling business (to raise gas prices back up fast) and send out engraved invitations to every anti-American immigrant they can get an address for to further increase their voter base and water down the American conservative votes, is totally out to lunch. It will be socialism as quickly as they make it happen, the laws of the land and the Constitution be damned. This has been the lowest, most criminally tainted and viciously run campaign known to America as currently perpetrated by the Dems/Left and blindly aided and abetted by a media that has elimated the words “fact,” “truth,” “honesty,” “objectivity,” and the ideals of freedom and liberty from their vocabulary and minds.

Why in the world to Dems/Leftists think that socialism will work? It never has and it never will. Why do they think our enemies will leave us alone if we appease them and proceed to dismantle our military/defense? Because they are so blinded by their social/environmental and anti-conservative/Christian mentality that they are simply willing to destroy America in the name of their “cause.” They just don’t care. It’s me first, Country last.

God have mercy on this country, because we are on the verge of turning a corner and proceeding down a path from which we may never be able to return, given the bent of our enemies.

This morning at work, I send the link about Obama’s radio interview on wealth redistribution to seven different people I know, four of whom are in my office. Sorry to say that no one cares! They actually laughed at me! And half of these are people who voted for Bush four years ago!

This Obama interview means something to we conservatives. But I’m afraid we’re not in the majority on this. Most people have made up their minds and they’re not listening anymore.

One guy said to me, “Oh, you right-wingers are always crying wolf about something. What are you gonna call Obama next, a Nazi?”

It’s depressing. Look at the polls, even in places like Virginia and North Carolina. Not to mention Ohio and Florida. I have to be a realist here. I knew this would happen as soon as we nominated McCain instead of a real conservative.

I think McCain’s goose is cooked. No matter what we do.

6G9, great comments.

nlcatter, you’re a dimwit. Subprime loan was a good idea?? Are you kidding?? This was what caused the collapse of the global economy. Don’t blame it on the banks alone. It all started with these idiots:

Jimmy Carter AND Bill Clinton: Their Community Reinvestment Act (CRA) forced banks to give risky loans to uncreditworthy homebuyers. People on welfare rolls with no job history were given home loans because of CRA.

Alan Greenspan: He repeatedly lowered the interest rates to dangerously low levels, making more and more money and credit available to be used for these risky loans.

Bank executives like Obama’s friends, Franklin Raines, Jim Johnson, Richard Fuld and Stan O’Neal: All swindled the housing and banking programs and brought their institutions to ruin. All pushed for these risky loans to be sold to overseas institutions so they can share the wealth and the risk. All took millions of dollars before being booted out or forced to resign.

Barney Frank and Chris Dodd: Controlled Congress’ banking and housing committees and wouldn’t allow reform of Fannie Mae & Freddie Mac.

All of these idiots are supporting Obama so you can see that Obama continues to be associated with people who do more harm than good to this country.

There’s also a video of the interview that some media outlet won’t release. THEY DON’T WANT YOU TO KNOW. But get informed!

America will be destroyed otherwise. The death of our Founding Fathers’ America and the Constitution.

Biden was appropriately questioned the other day by the Florida journalist: Should we think this is Marxism coming our way? And he wouldn’t answer.

He refused to allow the follow-up interview scheduled with his wife. The Obama campaign has refused any more access of her station to them for the remainder of the campaign.

THEY DON’T WANT YOU INFORMED. This is what you can expect with an Obama presidency. And a guaranteed nightmare with Reid and Pelosi working along with him to change America.

Remember Biden’s words: We’ll need you to stand with us because it won’t look at first like what we’re doing is the right thing.

Well, what Obama wants to do is NOT the right thing. At ANY time.

He will strip us of our Constitutional rights to our freedoms. Already you’ve learned how he has attempted to destroy our fair and democratic elections through fraud. His own staff members were busted for trying to vote in OHIO – 13 of them. Perpetrating a fraud on us all.

Something I just heard on FOX – that it was probably Nicole Wallace who bought all those clothes for Palin. She didn’t ask for them and only used a few of them. Many extras were purchased to see what would fit. So the $150K is a gross exaggeration. And, as Palin said, the clothes that weren’t returned are going to charity.

But this weasel Wallace hasn’t come forward to say she was the one who bought them, leaving Palin to explain it all. I think Wallace wanted this embarassment for her and the campaign. Here’s why:

I read a few days ago that she was a CBS EXECUTIVE before hooking up with McCain’s campaign. EGAD. I wish I’d been there when she showed up to boot her rear right back out the door. Call me paranoid. But I wouldn’t have trusted ANYONE coming from the MSM.

In fact, I’d bet my bottom dollar she’s the one who set up — and limited Palin’s exposure to — those two lousy interviews with Couric and Gibson.

If Palin did say, “Stay the heck away from me; I’m doing my own thing from here on out” — then, good for her. She’s been great ever since.

I just hope they’ve sent that Wallace menace packing.

Just words/ just speeches/all patterns
Well apparently, b.o has your vote if you want to be treated and smeared like Joe the plumber. Pattern

And apparently there are willing enforcers and facilitators to do The work for b.o. Patterns

Apparently a brave reporter Barbara West pissed off the b.o ticket during a biden interview and now she could be targeted for smears like Joe- or maybe not she is tough, is this a prelude to a democrat rule?
Now here’s a real journalist Barbara West has more balls than most of the so called journalist out there. The City of Orlando is really fortunate to have a true journalist/anchor( anchor woman in the true sense.)

America, this is just a small window of things to come if “the one” gets elected. Patterns

Apparently when socialist leaders/countries wants to rally a cause they call on the disenfranchised and the young, and massive propagandas are launched. Remember the red Youth of China, Cambodia’s Khmer Rouge. North Korea does it with what they call “mass games” and oh all are failures. Patterns

Apparently most socialist leaders are always prepared and deliver good, even fantastic speeches I agree, I can give you many examples but I will only mention one who is still alive, comrade Fidel Castro’s he’s a great orator. Patterns

Apparently other people had not lived under a dictatorship/socialist/other rogues, or have not paid attention to history classes, to recognize what is happening right in front of their noses. Patterns
Apparently, b.o wants to use the Supreme Court to further he’s issue on “economic justice”

How can b.o apparently defend the United States Constitution when he claims it to be “fundamentally flawed”? he calls it “negative liberties” b.o wants to break free from the constitution?

The patterns are all apparent.

This whole thing is an anomaly?
We might be giving b.o too much credit by talking about him exclusively, but I ‘m beginning to think that he may be just a pawn in a bigger scheme. Think about it, how can somebody like him with questionable background get in this position so quickly without powerful backings? How do explain the biggest campaign $ contribution in election history? I always thought democraps are so stupid to appoint (yes I use the term appoint) b.o as their candidate rather than Hillary Clinton who in many angles is much more superior than b.o? but Hillary C. was treated so badly with the race game. The democraps have a history of sacrificing or abandoning their own when things go bad. (Look they will easily abort a defenseless baby or let it die if born alive, – they seem to like words that begins with ab- abortion, abandon, (the war) abnormal (pelosi)) Or treat their running mates like crap like in the case of the Kennedy’s treatment of LBJ(and by the way, the most violent action towards the Vietnamese by way of bombings was done by a LBJ a democrap president and at the end, allowed the South Vietnamese government to fall.(MeLai massacre) Can you say bad foreign policy? And b.o says he will be love and hug by the world? Unbelievable, look at history it says otherwise. Here in the U.S LBJ refused to sent Federal troops to protect the Selma marchers) though we also have to admire him for his voting right act of 1965 only to be ruined by acorn. you ask what does all this have to do with the present? Simple any story that begins with once upon a time still is relevant today, there are patterns and parallels to all things, it is found in nature. b .o will be drop like a hot potato when the scheme is expose? And look at biden for their vice. Could there be somebody behind this scary political experiment.
You might think this is absurd (oh another ab-word) but then how do you explain it? Either way it is terrifying to think that b.o could be in-charge of the most powerful office on earth, with the most powerful military, and the biggest economy in the world.
It goes beyond the power of reason when for example would you buy a household appliance lets say a vacuum cleaner with an unfamiliar brand name, and no idea where its made from made of or how long has it been around is it reliable, etc.? Probably not, but we seem to be ready to vote this person to be president? Now that really sucks.
When an individual or organization refuses to identify it self, one would suspect that it is doing something illegal or would not stand behind a program? Or does not have a program or its program is a lie or for any reason other than the truth.

Yes there is something behind all this they are called democraps/crats starting with FDR during WW2-look it up.also under FDR a group of Americans were put in internment or concentration camps try to explain that one- 2 devastating bombs dropped, killing defenseless men, women, and children.

George Washington (February 22, 1732[1][2][3] – December 14, 1799) served as the first President of the United States of America (1789–1797),[4] and led the Continental Army to victory over the Kingdom of Great Britain in the American Revolutionary War (1775–1783).

Many things can be said about George Washington and Washington has been consistently ranked by scholars as one of the greatest U.S. Presidents.

And for me the greatest thing about Him is He could be a king, a tyrant, a prime minister, or a military dictator. But instead he took his uniform off and was elected as a civilian. Washington took the oath of office as the first President under the Constitution for the United States of America on April 30, 1789.
And now there is this joker name b.o who really have not done anything to this great country, let alone served in the military is on the verge of taking the most powerful office in the world, due to the ignorance of his contituents. And unlike George Washington, b.o will take oath under a Constitution(if he is elected) that he does not believe in and wants to change it- how can he defend a Constitution he does not believe in????

I know that many of you are sick and tired of all this political BS but if you read just one more thing between now and next month’s election, I urge you to read the following editorial. I don’t know who “Michael Masters” is or what he does; but he does write cogently and well. A Google search turns up a Michael Masters who is a lawyer in Philadelphia but I don’t believe that he is the author of this open letter. There is a “Michael C. Masters” who lives in McLean, VA – I presume, but do not know for sure, that he is the author. However, he didn’t show up in any Google searches that I conducted, so I guess he isn’t “notorious” enough to be found. I look at that as a good thing, however. On the surface, that suggests he is just another citizen like the rest of us and has no particular ax to grind. However, he HAS done his homework before writting this editorial.

To Barack Hussein Obama,

The New York Times carried a story on Saturday, October 4, 2008 that proved you had a significantly closer relationship with Bill Ayers than what you previously admitted. While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

The Chicago Sun reported on May 8, 2008 that FBI records showed that you had a significantly closer relationship with Tony Rezko than what you previously admitted. In the interview, you said that you only saw Mr. Rezko a couple of times a year. The FBI files showed that you saw him weekly. While the issue of your relationship is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about it.

Your speech in Philadelphia on March 18, 2008 about “race” contradicted your statement to Anderson Cooper on March 14 when you said that you never heard Reverend Wright make his negative statements about white America. While your attendance at Trinity Church for 20 years is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America on March 14.

In your 1st debate with John McCain, you said that you never said that you would meet with the leaders of Cuba, Venezuela, Iran, and North Korea without “preparations” at lower levels … Joe Biden repeated your words in his debate with Sarah Palin … while the video tape from your debate last February clearly shows that you answered “I would” to the question of meeting with those leaders within 12 months without “any” preconditions. While your judgement about meeting with enemies of the USA without pre-conditions is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America in the debate with McCain.

On July 14, 2008, you said that you always knew that the surge would work while the video tapes of you from more than a year ago show that you stated that the surge would not work. While your judgement about military strategy as a potential commander in chief is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America on July 14.

You now claim that your reason for voting against funding for the troops was because the bill did not include a time line for withdrawal while the video tapes of you from more than a year ago show that you voted against additional funding because you wanted our troops to be removed immediately … not in 16 months after the 2008 election as you now claim. While your judgement about removing our troops unilaterally in 2007 is of concern, the greater concern is that you lied to America about your previous position.

You claim to have a record of working with Republicans while the record shows that the only bill that you sponsored with a Republican was with Chuck Lugar … and it failed. The record shows that you vote 97% in concert with the Democrat party and that you have the most liberal voting record in the Senate. You joined Republicans only 13% of the time in your votes and those 13% were only after agreement from the Democrat party. While it is of concern that you fail to include conservatives in your actions and that you are such a liberal, the greater concern is that you distorted the truth.

In the primary debates of last February, 2008, you claimed to have talked with a “Captain” of a platoon in Afghanistan “the other day” when in fact you had a discussion in 2003 with a Lieutenant who had just been deployed to Afghanistan. You lied in that debate.

In your debates last spring, you claimed to have been a “professor of Constitutional law” when in fact you have never been a professor of Constitutional law. In this last debate, you were careful to say that you “taught a law class” and never mentioned being a “professor of Constitutional law.” You lied last spring.

You and Joe Biden both claimed that John McCain voted against additional funding for our troops when the actual records show the opposite. You distorted the truth.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted against funding for alternate energy sources 20 times when the record shows that John McCain specifically voted against funding for bio fuels, especially corn … and he was right …. corn is too expensive at producing ethanol, and using corn to make ethanol increased the price of corn from $2 a bushel to $6 a bushel for food. You distorted the truth.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted like both of you for a tax increase on those making as little as $42,000 per year while the voting record clearly shows that John McCain did not vote as you and Joe Biden. You lied to America.

You and Joe Biden claim that John McCain voted with George W. Bush 90% of the time when you know that Democrats also vote 90% of the time with the President (including Joe Biden) because the vast majority of the votes are procedural. You are one of the few who has not voted 90% of the time with the president because you have been missing from the Senate since the day you got elected. While your absence from your job in the Senate is of concern, the greater concern is that you spin the facts.

You did not take an active roll in the rescue plan. You claimed that the Senate did not need you while the real reason that you abstained was because of your close relationships with the executives of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Countrywide, and Acorn … who all helped cause the financial problems of today … and they all made major contributions to your campaign. While your relationship with these executives and your protection of them for your brief 3 years in the Senate (along with Barney Frank, Chuch Schumer, Maxine Waters, and Chris Dodd) is of concern, the greater concern is that you are being deceitful.

You forgot to mention that you personally represented Tony Rezko and Acorn. Tony Rezko, an Arab and close friend to you, was convicted of fraud in Chicago real estate transactions that bilked millions of tax dollars from the Illinois government for renovation projects that you sponsored as a state senator … and Acorn has been convicted of voter fraud, real estate sub prime loan intimidation, and illegal campaign contributions. Tony Rezko has contributed hundreds of thousands of dollars to your political campaigns. You personally used your political positions to steer money to both Tony Rezko and Acorn and you used Acorn to register thousands of phony voters for Democrats and you. While your relationships with Rezko and Acorn are of concern, the greater concern is that you omitted important facts about your relationships with them to America.

During your campaign, you said: “typical white person.” “they cling to their guns and religion.” “they will say that I am black.” You played the race card. You tried to label any criticism about you as racist. You divide America.

You claim that you will reduce taxes for 95% of America, but you forgot to tell America that those reductions are after you remove the Bush tax reductions. You have requested close to $1 Billion in earmarks and several million for Acorn. Your social programs will cost America $1 Trillion per year and you claim that a reduction in military spending ($100 billion for Iraq) can pay for it. While your economic plan of adding 30% to the size of our federal government is of concern, the greater concern is that you are deceiving America.

The drain to America’s economy by foreign supplied oil is $700 Billion per year (5% of GDP) while the war in Iraq is $100 Billion (less than 1% of GDP). You voted against any increases to oil exploration for the last 3 years and any expansion of nuclear facilities. Yet today, you say that you have always been for more oil and more nuclear. You are lying to America.

Mr. Obama, you claimed that you “changed” your mind about public financing for your campaign because of the money spent by Republican PACs in 2004. The truth is that the Democrat PACs in 2004, 2006, and 2008 spent twice as much as the Republican PACs (especially George Soros and MoveOn.org). You are lying to America.

Mr. Obama, you have done nothing to stop the actions of the teachers union and college professors in the USA. They eliminated religion from our history. They teach pro gay agendas and discuss sex with students as young as first grade. They bring their personal politics into the classrooms. They disparage conservatives. They brainwash our children. They are in it for themselves ….. not America. Are you reluctant to condemn their actions because teachers/professors and the NEA contribute 25% of all money donated to Democrats and none to Republicans? You are deceiving America.

Oh Mr. Obama, Teddy Roosevelt said about a hundred years ago that we Americans should first look at the character of our leaders before anything else.

Your character looks horrible. While you make good speeches, motivating speeches, your character does not match your rhetoric. You talk the talk but do not walk the walk.

1. You lied to America. You lied many times. You distorted facts. You parsed your answers like a lawyer.
2. You distorted the record of John McCain in your words and in your advertisements.
3. You had associations with some very bad people for your personal political gains and then lied about those associations.
4. You divide America about race and about class.

Now let me compare your record of lies, distortions, race bating, and associations to John McCain: War hero. Annapolis graduate with “Country first.” Operational leadership experience like all 43 previously elected presidents of the USA as a Navy Officer for 22 years. 26 years in the Senate. Straight talk. Maverick. 54% of the time participated on bills with Democrats. Never asked for an earmark. The only blemish on his record is his part in the Keating 5 debacle about 25 years ago.

Mr. Obama, at Harvard Law School, you learned that the end does not justify the means. You learned that perjury, false witness, dishonesty, distortion of truth are never tolerated. Yet, your dishonesty is overwhelming. Your dishonesty is tremendously greater than the dishonesty that caused the impeachment and disbarment of Bill Clinton. Your dishonesty is tremendously greater than the dishonesty of Scooter Libby. You should be ashamed.

Mr. Obama, it is time for us Americans to put aside our differences on political issues and vote against you because of your dishonest character. It is time for all of us Americans to put aside our political issues and vote for America first. It is time for America to vote for honesty.

Any people who vote for you after understanding that you are dishonest should be ashamed of themselves for making their personal political issues more important than character. Would these same people vote for the anti-Christ if the anti-Christ promised them riches? Would they make a golden calf while Moses was up the mountain? Would they hire someone for a job if that someone lied in an interview? …. of course not. So why do some of these people justify their votes for you even though they know you are dishonest? Why do they excuse your dishonesty? because some of these people are frightened about the future, the economy, and their financial security … and you are preying on their fears with empty promises … and because some (especially our young people) are consumed by your wonderful style and promises for “change” like the Germans who voted for Adolf Hitler in 1932. The greed/envy by Germans in 1932 kept them from recognizing Hitler for who he was. They loved his style. Greed and envy are keeping many Americans from recognizing you .. your style has camouflaged your dishonesty …. but many of us see you for who you really are … and we will not stop exposing who you are every day, forever if it is necessary.

Mr. Obama, you are dishonest. Anyone who votes for you is enabling dishonesty.
Mr. Obama, America cannot trust that you will put America first in your decisions about the future.
Mr. Obama, you are not the “change” that America deserves. We cannot trust you.
Mr. Obama, You are not ready and not fit to be commander in chief.
Mr. Obama, John McCain does not have as much money as your campaign to refute all of your false statements. And for whatever reasons, the mainstream media will not give adequate coverage or research about your lies, distortions, word parsing, bad associations, race bating, lack of operational leadership experience, and general dishonest character. The media is diverting our attention to your relationships and ignoring the fact that you lied about those relationships. The fact that you lied is much more important than the relationships themselves …. just like with Bill Clinton and Richard Nixon .. Monica Lewinski and Watergate were not nearly as bad as the fact that those gentlemen lied about the events … false witness … perjury .. your relationships and bad judgements are bad on their own … but your lies are even worse.

Therefore, by copy of this memo, all who read this memo are asked to send it to everyone else in America before it is too late. We need to do the job that the media will not do. We need to expose your dishonesty so that every person in America understands who you really are before election day.

Mr. Obama, in a democracy, we get what we deserve. And God help America if we deserve you.

P.S. One thing not mentioned is that Mr. Obama will disarm all our defense mechanisms in America, our missile systems, all defense research programs, and more, making us a sitting duck for…who?

Oct 29, 2008 - 11:02 am 158. Edward A.:

The way McCain has run his campaign has demonstrated to the voting public his total inability to lead this nation. Never have I witnessed such chaos and lack of planning. To look at McCain, one sees this disaster as his eyes dart about, his words are garbled and his thoughts lost. It is sad to see him in this state, but America needs a strong, confident leader for the next eight years.

Nov 2, 2008 - 1:23 pm 159. v for victory:

Steve Schmidt: “John McCain’s top adviser from the presidential campaign urged fellow Republicans on Friday to warm up to gay rights and warned that the GOP risks becoming the “religious party” with its opposition to same-sex marriage.”

Sounds weak.

Is this the reason McCain was so weak during the election, a weakling campaign supervisor?
