Goldberg suggests that a revisit of fascist behaviors of the 20th century are "unlikely." Why? It seems to me that the Left have become more strident than ever, to say nothing of their level of delusion about our reality. We can't even have an objective discussion about man's "nature" without threats of serious results. Intelligent theorists have sugggested, for example, that there was an inevitability about Katrina's aftermath because plans to prevent the predicted anarchy could not be discussed in polite and politically correct meetings for fear of consequences from the Thought Police or their equivalent.

The nonsense of the Fainess Doctrine is upon us in the United States and there is nothing fair about this doctrine. It is simply a Leftist scheme to implement their rule. If this runs its course and the mental giants who govern us have their way, we might see innumerable "points of view" required to make it fair, inclusive, multicultural, and diverse.

Jonah says it exactly -- this attempt to control speech is "disgusting and disturbing" and, I would add, dangerous.

Nearly half a century ago John Barth portrayed the world as a vast college campus in his satiric novel, Giles Goat Boy [based on his experiences teaching at Penn State]. Perhaps it is time to update the concept. Steyn and Jonah have the chops and are acquiring the experience. I'd like to see one of them try it.
