I am in complete shock! To get something done in a few hours by a Governmental organization created by Governments is something else. It takes a few hours of phone calls just to get the dept that you need and then you have to leave a voice mail and then never get a return call. Whoever got this fixed needs to be running the UN!

Emailed Ms Marta Ruedas, UN Resident Coordinator of UNDP Lebanon, just to ask if she felt this statement reflected the UN’s position about the 2006 War.

The statement didn’t “seem” to fit with that at

“New hostilities on the Israeli-Lebanese Border started on 12 July 2006 when Hizbollah launched several rockets from Lebanese Territory across the BlueLine towards IDF positions . . . In parallel, Hizbollah fighters crossed the Blueline and attacked an Israeli patrol and captured two Israeli soldiers, killed three others and wounded two more”

It will be interesting.

Congrats on a job well done! Results from the UN…will wonders never cease?

Some kudo should also be directed at the UN itself. The speed with which they corrected the problem really indicates that this was an oversight, an bit of carelessness where a falsehood inserted by some biased local was overlooked (the sort of problem that is nearly unavoidable and forgiveable in a large beaurocracy), rather than a sly anti-Israel slap by the organization itself.
