Michael Moore Makes Odd Appearance at Canadian Debate

The rotund propagandist took the opportunity to mock the Conservative candidate and trash American voters.

Our local all-candidates debate took an interesting twist on October 8 when Michael Moore came crashing in unexpectedly with his camera crew in tow.

The candidates were Canadian citizens, contesting a Canadian election on October 14 for the riding — what Americans call an electoral district — of Sault Ste. Marie, a city of 75,000 hidden in the vast northern Ontario wilderness.

Sault Ste. Marie is my hometown. Which is why I was at the debate.

What I don’t understand is why Michael Moore was at the debate.

Why was a controversial American filmmaker so interested in our local election when the U.S. is in the final stages of its own campaign?

That’s what I was determined to find out.

Moore would not tell me.

He said only that he was producing a movie, under two hours, in color, and that he does not comment on films in production.

Two members of his production crew refused comment and one refused to give me his name.

The unnamed crew member did object, however, to me calling him an American.

“I’m a U.S. citizen,” he said, adding that like Canadians he lives in North America.

So I asked the next logical question to come to mind: Why is a U.S. citizen up in Canada taping a small-town all-candidates debate at the local college?

“I don’t want to be interviewed,” he said.

For a public figure who has made his reputation confronting other public figures when they least expect it, Moore and his camera crew came across as camera shy when I attempted to interview them on the record.

Finally, Moore’s camera man, a tall, clean-shaven fellow with bushy brown hair who identified himself as John Walter, revealed the big secret: Moore was taping a new movie contrasting Canada’s political system with that of his home and native land.

What he didn’t say is that as part of the taping, Moore would spend 90 minutes after the debate knocking on doors with Tony Martin, the incumbent member of Parliament for Canada’s socialist New Democratic Party.

Local polls suggest that Martin is in a tight race to hold onto his seat.

Conservative candidate Cameron Ross has mounted a credible challenge for a party that typically places a distant third in our riding.

Yet for someone who was simply an American observing the action, Moore would publicly criticize Ross — who was born and raised in a farming community just outside of the Sault — for declining a post-debate interview.

“I don’t know why he didn’t stay,” Moore told local media. “Maybe he was hungry. Conservatives get hungrier easier I guess.”

Moore is a great intellectual, someone that will be remembered in our history as a great critic and filmmaker. You may hate his guts but you ought to respect his courage.

Oct 14, 2008 - 6:52 am 8. Peter the Sub Guy:

I loved his appearence in the new film “An American Carol.” Oh, wait…

Oct 14, 2008 - 7:02 am 9. Robert:

Speaking as a Canadian, we don’t want Michael Moore. We already have enough elitist, pompous, leftist windbags.

Sad that someone actually thinks Moore is a great intellectual. There are so many of those in American history, and he really doesn’t measure up.

Oct 14, 2008 - 7:20 am 10. Patterson:

I’m sorry that Canada had to deal with that imbecile. Michael Moore is a degenerate muck-raking piece of trash. He should be deported to a small island out in the Pacific.

Oct 14, 2008 - 7:56 am 11. Michael:

Moore is a pathetic film maker that remindes me of Joseph Goebbels but with less honesty and class.

(And I absolutely know that Goebbels was a total bastard and war criminal.)

Oct 14, 2008 - 8:01 am 12. Eowyn2:

Moore knows the reaction he would get if he showed up touting the local candidates in the US.

Moore is not a great intellectual, he’s a greedy capitalist. He’s making millions of dollars by espousing socialist theory and biting at the backside of the US. Only the WEALTHY ELITE SOCIALISTS and the anarchist children they support give two figs for Moore’s screed.

Oct 14, 2008 - 8:04 am 13. ST333:

Michael “There’s No Terrorist Threat” Moore (www.obsessionthemovie.com embarrasses him with his own ignorant words) found a niche as a left wing conspiracy theorist and has ran with it. That’s all. Why this man is seen as “credible” is beyond me. I think Lunch Box needs to stop making crappy movies and get on a tread mill to give his heart a break.

“Moore is a great intellectual, someone that will be remembered in our history as a great critic and filmmaker. You may hate his guts but you ought to respect his courage.”

There is nothing intellectual or courageous in a man who manipulates facts to fit his narrative that he knows will have a following amongst his likeminded fellows. Were he courageous, he would have answered Pete Vere’s questions as he expects others to do when he’s making his films.

I also take umbrage with the assertion that he is a great critic. What’s so great about going to anti-American Europe and catering to their prejudices?

Oct 14, 2008 - 8:37 am 15. Frank:

Moore is no better than Alex Jones, Barrie Zwicker, or Ernst Zündel

Oct 14, 2008 - 8:39 am 16. maurice:

Are you sure it was Moore? It’s hard to tell the seriously deranged leftists with camera crews (some call themselves “artists”) from the national media in Canada, you know.

“lgkick:

It takes great courage to make fun of political leaders in Canada or the US, does it? Let him try his schticks in Syria, or Saudi Arabia, or Russia, or China or Iran, if he wants to be credited with “courage”. Let him risk something valuable, like his life, or his livelihood, or his freedom, and then grant him this honour of respecting his courage. Some freedom warrior he is, coming to agitate for an NDP candidate in Canada, where the synonym for “good morning” is “I’m sorry”..

No, he’s a liar and a coward making millions off hatred.

Why those who have it best here hate us the most is a conundrum. I think it was to do with secularism personally.

“You may hate his guts but you ought to respect his courage.”
I agree. What kind of man does it take to let his weight balloon grotesquely to 300lbs. just so he can learn the truth of poor US medical care and teach us how much better it is in Cuba? Such sacrifice! He has courageously allowed himself to become obscenely wealthy so he can lecture us through his movies on how bad wealth accumulation and capitalism is. All for the pursuit of and accumulation of the truth! He courageously risked his own conscience, integrity and reputation by applying a little…errr….creative editing in order to prove to the world that Bush is a liar. Now, that’s heart, baby! And now, while his intellectual comrades in ACORN create history by relentlessly promoting the democratic process across the States, rather than make a film about the truth of that operation, he comes north to help the poor, deluded Canadians with their democratic processes.

Where do we find such men?

Oct 14, 2008 - 9:14 am 20. TCompton:

We can only apologize to the Canadians.

Note to Igkick: Sorry, but the intellectually porous expats and reporters that ignored the rise of the Nazi’s and fancied Stalin a hero, while trashing the “backward” US and its boring voters, are not remembered at all.

Neither are the Cliveden set that so fashionably denounced the backwardness of the only two democracies to oppose Hitler.

If Moore is rememered at all, it will be as a man with the “courage” to rely on uncritical people like you who fancy him a hero for bashing the decent while ignoring true evils and injustice.

Your praise for him reminds me of the men that doubtless bought drinks for klansmen, while castigating some imagined town problem. You and he: weird parasites on the world’s most free country.

Hey we wouldn’t let Alec Baldwin into Canada after his threats and hysterics in the last US election AND we sure as hell aren’t letting the fat vacuous Michael Moore in either.
And from an earlier commenter “We already have enough elitist, pompous, leftist windbags”.

Oct 14, 2008 - 10:24 am 24. Son of a Pig and a Monkey:

Imagine the howls of outrage from Canada’s commies if Rush Limbaugh came up here on the day of the election to trash lefties?

Oct 14, 2008 - 10:35 am 25. Gringo:

“I don’t know why he didn’t stay,” Moore told local media. “Maybe he was hungry. Conservatives get hungrier easier I guess.”

Classic comment from the grossly obese Moore, who obviously spends a lot more time eating than the average person.

Michael Moore is a genius. He’s gotten very rich making movies about how rich people are evil.

Admirable, though? Not so much.

Oct 14, 2008 - 11:46 am 27. jp:

“Michael Moore Makes Odd Appearance…”

The author states the obvious. I don’t believe it is possible for him to make any other kind of appearance. Wish he would maka a well-deserved dis-appearance.

Oct 14, 2008 - 1:23 pm 28. Joe:

That’s pretty funny that the “rotund” Michael Moore makes fun of Conservatives by claiming that they get hungry quicker. Trust me, in a race to the buffet table, Mr. Moore, we all know that we’d be eating nothing but your dust.

Michael Moore is a disgusting, lying, slovenly human being. I think he knows this about himself and that’s why he’s so horrible to others. He hates himself and he projects that outside himself in order to deal with it.

But mostly he’s just a fat, stupid pig.

Oct 14, 2008 - 3:53 pm 29. Lynn:

I really loved him in American Carol. LOL!!!
Moore’s remarks make me wonder if he has anyone to go home to. (NAAAAAHHH!)

[...] P.S. What on earth is Michael Moore doing in Canada? [...]

Oct 14, 2008 - 6:16 pm 31. fred:

How can someone like Michael Moore live with himself? He’s slovenly, obese, rude, hostile, greedy, gluttonous, and a shameless liar. How can anyone like this sleep at night? How do you get to be like this?

Someone at that meeting in Canada should have smashed his cameras and thrown his ass out into the cold. Too bad he didn’t pull that stunt in Churchill, Manitoba… he would have been an excellent repast for the polar bears.

Oct 14, 2008 - 6:20 pm 32. thegr8_1:

I say Todd Palin straps Moore’s fat a@@ to his dogsled naked next time he does his next 2000 mile race in Alaska. Extra weight would cost him the race but would be fun to watch. Hey if McCain wins Secret Service gets to participate in that race. Tim Mahoney what a disgrace may help McCain in Florida tell all your friends in the Sunshine State.

So far this story about Michelle Obama’s temper tantrum when she called African Press International (API) hasn’t been reported by the mainstream media but it is a very hot topic in the Blogosphere. Your humble correspondent checked on the credentials of API and it has been in existence for a little over two years and has filed numerous stories in that period. Additionally, this story has been posted at World Net Daily. If the MSM wants to verify this story they can contact API directly to investigate its veracity. Perhaps they don’t want to check out this story because Michelle Obama comes off with an extreme case of bad temper. This API article starts out with Michelle article making accusations of disloyalty against that organization in a phone call (emphasis mine):

Accusing API of colluding with American internet bloggers in an effort to bring down her husband, Mrs Obama said she decided to call API because of what she termed, API’s help to spread rumours created by American bloggers and other racist media outlets in their efforts to damage a black man’s name, saying she hopes African Media was mature enough to be in the front to give unwavering support to her husband, a man Africans should identify themselves with.
When API told her that our online news media was only relaying what the American Bloggers and other media outlets had discovered through their investigations, Mrs Obama was angered and she came out loud with the following: “African press International is supposed to support Africans and African-American view,” and she went to state that, “it is strange that API has chosen to support the racists against my husband. There is no shame in being adopted by a step father. All dirt has been thrown onto my husband’s face and yet he loves this country. My husband and I know that there is no law that will stop him from becoming the president, just because some American white racists are bringing up the issue of my husband’s adoption by His step father. The important thing here is where my husband’s heart is at the moment. I can tell the American people that My husband loves this country and his adoption never changed his love for this country. He was born in Hawaii, yes, and that gives him all the right to be an American citizen even though he was adopted by a foreigner; says Michelle Obama on telefon to API.”

Wow! Talk about a red hot temper! But will the MSM even ask Michelle Obama about this? This article is chock full of more shocking information:

This is a very interesting turn of events. The American man Dr Corsi was recently reported to have been arrested in Kenya because there was fear that he might reveal information on Obama when he wanted to hold a press conference in Nairobi.
The question now is why he was arrested and who ordered his arrest. Was Obama’s hand in this in any way? We will never know the truth but what is clear is that Dr Corsi was seen as a threat while in Kenya.

When API asked Mrs Obama to comment on why Dr Corsi was arrested by the Kenyan government and whether she thought Kenya’s Prime Minister Mr Raila Odinga was involved in Dr Corsi’s arrest, she got irritated and and simply told API not to dig that which will support evil people who are out to stop her husband from getting the presidency.

When asked who she was referring to as the evil people, she stated that she was not going to elaborate much on that but that many conservative white people and even some African Americans were against her husband, but that this group of blacks were simply doing so because of envy.

On Farakhan and his ministry, Mrs Obama told API that it was unfortunate that Mr Farakhan came out the way he did supporting her husband openly before the elections was over. That was not wholehearted support but one that was calculated to convince the American people that my husband will support the growth of muslim faith if he became the president, adding “even if my husband was able to prove that he is not a Muslim, he will not be believed by those who have come out strongly to destroy his chances of being the next President. Do real people expect someone to deny a religion when 80 percent of his relatives are Muslims?; Mrs Obama asked.

Mrs Obama asked API to write a good story about her husband and that will earn API an invitation to the innoguration ceremony when, as she put it , her husband will be installed as the next President of the United States of America next year.

Double WOW! As I stated, African Press International has been in existence for over two years and has filed over a thousand stories. So will the MSM investigate this? Meanwhile this story is gaining enormous steam in the Blogosphere.

I believe in the right to bear arms, you do not. I believe in privatization on all levels, you do not. I believe that all citizens have the right to speak their mind and should not be called, “dumb, stupid and fascist” for said beliefs, you do not. I would like to trade places with you and live in the GREATEST COUNTRY IN THE WORLD and you can come and live in Canada. HE SAID FELLOW MARXIST CASTRO HAD GREAT HEALTH CARE BUT AFTER A STORM HE COULD NOT EVEN FEED HIS POOR CITIZENS LIVING IN SLAVERY THERE …..CASTRO HAD DOCTORS FLY THERE FROM SPAIN FOR MANY YEARS TO TAKE CARE OF HIM … YOU GOOFUS !
He is a fatter equally Evil moronic Oliver Stone .

Oct 15, 2008 - 1:53 pm 38. portia9:

Who won your riding?

I find the way so called “progressives” here are enamored of the Canadian political system and the Canadian healthcare system very amusing. As an ex-pat, I vividly remember my utter frustration and disgust with both Canadian institutions. I actually voted NDP for many years myself and am a recovering “social democrat.” The heathcare available to my family here in the US is immeasurably better than anything my relatives in Canada can get through the government system. My mother, a cancer survivor, waits several weeks for an appointment to see her family doctor to obtain a referral to wait several more weeks to see a specialist in another province. My father waited 18 monts for elective surgery to repair a torn tendon in his arm. A friend’s father developed brain cancer and was sent home to die. Thousands of dollars spent at the Mayo clinic gave him several more years with his family than he would otherwise have had but left his widow basically penniless at the end.

We left Canada because the opportunities here far outweighed anything available to us there. We have a better life now after 12 years in the US than we could ever have imagined in Canada. Unfortunatley, that may soon change. I have no reason to believe that Obama is anything but a socialist at heart. He has sought out people with radical socialist beliefs his whole life. Those have been his associates, his mentors, and his friends. He is not the patriotic centrist his campaign portrays him as. It will be a very sad day if and when he is sworn in. Fortunately for us, we have many opportunities available to us in other countries and we can and will leave, as will others like us. We have worked very hard for what we have and will not sit here placidly while Obama, Pelosi et al try and take it from us.

Oct 15, 2008 - 3:53 pm 39. Oeuf:

And yet by interfering in our election, no one has brought up the fact that Moore also broke several of our laws dealing with forgein nationals intruding into the soverienty of our Democratic process.

Just saying. You think he’ll ever be charges?

Nah. too many Liberal appointed judges up here.

Oct 15, 2008 - 9:56 pm 41. Doug:

To those who don’t live near Michigan, Sault in Canada has a twin, Sault St. Marie in the U.P.
Moore probably stayed there and crossed over on day trips to Sault Canada so as to not have to deal with getting work permits from the Canadian government, which would include hiring local union members. If I’m right, he’ll probably show up in Windsor, Ont. next.

Oct 16, 2008 - 7:51 am 42. "gunner":

i’m pleased, but not surprised to hear the canadians who express disgust at moore’s meddling in their politics. i’ve got friends up there who have not bought into the socialist scam either. in spite of your politicians y’all make good neighbors for the most part, and hopefully we will someday see the end of socialist nonsense in both countries. thanks for speaking up, whatever the “human rights commission” kangaroo courts may think you still have the right of free speech down here.
