Obamamania in Overdrive as Inauguration Looms

It feels like the wedding of Charles and Diana all over again.

January 14, 2009 - by Pam Meister
<- Prev  Page 2 of 2

So, January 20 will usher in a new era:

  • Out with George Bush and his obsessive, overindulgent workouts; in with Barack Obama and his workouts that give him a “chance to reflect” and leave him “revved up.”
  • Say goodbye to the status quo; say hello to much of Bill Clinton’s old guard.
  • It’s unseemly to have a lavish inauguration during wartime, but okay to eat cake to celebrate during a recession.
  • Did you miss the presence of Hollywood’s glitterati in Washington during the last eight years? Relax: the stars will once again be shining in our nation’s capital. And who knows? Perhaps the Lincoln Bedroom will once again become a port of call for our nation’s most celebrated entertainers-cum-policy experts.
  • No more bashing of the president! From now on, it’s good vibrations for all, according to this Drudge Report flash: “‘We are just not interested in anyone so highly critical of President-elect Obama, right now,’ a Today insider reveals. ‘It’s such a downer. It’s just not the time, and it’s not what our audience wants, either.’” Today eventually relented, allowing Ann Coulter to bask in Matt Lauer’s presence. Nielsen numbers trump ideology nearly every time.

The oceans are receding, the planet is healing, and the left has finally found its long-lost patriotism, although they are not quite sure what to do with it. (I could make a few suggestions.) Welcome to the Obama Nation! Check your wallet at the door.

Helen,

That may be the best comment I’ve read all day. I do find it hilarious how those with brain bleach syndrome, along with BDS, have forgotten/aren’t old enough, to remember the Clinton years. And the celebrities. They were so respectful to the WH. Why,who can forget Markie Post and Linda Bloodsworth Thomason bouncing on the bed in the Lincoln bedroom, while Lincoln did rotations below ground? I can just imagine what the likes of Kanye West will do! I think the hawkers of these products have murdered those innocent trees, for nothing, because they will have a lot of this stuff that won’t ever be sold.

There is NO war. It’s still an invasion.

The cake will feed a few trade people and whatnot.

In obama’s case we see just how easy it is to make a celebrity out of anybody. Even a know nothing done nothing. As long as they can chant and wave and read a speech someone else wrote for them.

I am glad to be living in an age when our president can just wave his magic wand and the country is going to be restored to the “good old days”…and then he can bounce around on a stage and the zonked kids can give him the “American Idol” vote.

Jan 14, 2009 - 5:49 am 7. happy1ga:

Vivo,

According PEBO and Harry Reid, it’s not only a war, it’s a Civil War. Are you saying they were wrong? As for the inauguration, when Bush’s 2nd inauguration came around many Democrats,(feel free to google this), stated that it was terribly wrong to have an inauguration party, ball, etc., during a time of war. It merited quite a lot of news and print, at the time. All the MSM talking heads were bashing Bush, as per usual, that we had just had a Tsunami, you know halfway across the world, and the money should be sent there, instead. If PEBO wants to prove he is fair, won’t he send money to the Israelis who need money? As far as the article is concerned, you are the one who brought up a number of people you supposed as lefties, the author was much wiser to refrain.

Oh would some power the giftie give us
To see ourselves as others see us……

It’s too much to expect, I know…but I wonder if Barry and Michelle will ever understand how regular people* see them: self-centered, over-educated, welfare-minded twits who now, unfortunately, have a great deal of power and influence. (*there are still 58 million of us, at least, at last count)

Oh well. I suppose we have to consider that the nation has survived worse. Just too bad we have to do without a first lady (as well as doing without a president, since he just roleplays–he never actually BECOMES anything) for four years.

Jan 14, 2009 - 6:28 am 9. Spider79:

Vivo’s right! I read an article the other day where some lefties in Berkley (as if there’s anything else) are even willing to embrace old glory now that The One is taking the helm. Any Day now Osama will get that tingle up his leg too and come around. Perhaps ACORN can deploy a team of cave organizers in the Afghan mountains to help spread the truth and light.

Sorry Vivo. You are not a patriot when you suddenly love your country just because there is a new multi-teeted sow to suckle off of.

Is anyone really buying all of that Obama garbage? Who wants to read a book about Obama that could only be 3 pages long. He’s a BLANK SLATE! People who buy this drivel must be the people we can thank for buying crap off of infomercials and for helping Vanity Fair believe they are still relevant to American politics. Such blind little sheeple. Such little sponges soaking up whatever info the MSM deems worthy of spooning into them. Oh, to be an innocent-eyed liberal full of love for everything but his country and his country’s future. If we think Barack and Michelle are full of it now, wait until they start believing their own press! ShamWow anyone?

Time to raise the voting age to 35 for all but those serving in the military. Seems after 12-20 years of brainwashing in public schools, universities and from the media, it takes the “school of hard knocks” at least 10 years to slap some sense back into them.

Ha ha. Talk about sour grapes. The funniest part is the fact that half of this excitement originates from the royal mess Prince George has made of the world and America’s eager anticipation of finally drawing the curtain on our long national nightmare. If you guys hadn’t blown so much money, destroyed so much wealth and gotten so many people killed, the last 8 years might even be funny. Unfortunately, they’re a tragedy. And nothing is more loathesome than Prince George making his final media peregrinations to try and salvage what little is left of his reputation, blithely proclaiming that all in all, he’s pleased with the way things turned out under his watch. Goodbye and good riddance, GOP. The country could use a nice long break from your “governance.”

This assumes that Barry Obama/Soetoro will be inaugurated Jan. 20th. But why have both he and Joe Biden been invited to visit the Supreme Court, privetely? Perhaps for them to ask for actual proof of native-born citizenship. No problem for Joe from Scranton. Obama/Soetoro, however, has never presented a birth certificate to anyone. His campaign has shown a “certification” that under Hawaiian law can be issued for someone born elsewhere, including outside the U.S. And why do the Kenya media refer to him as “Kenya-born”? Stay tuned.

No wonder you bought into the whole Obama charade so easily. Sip that kool-aid slower from now on SpaceCat. Reality is coming quicker for you than you’d like to believe.

Still watching her will be a diversion while we wait for Obama’s Presidency to become a train wreck.

“Obama’s the prez – get over it.”

The Bush haters certainly never got over the fact that George Bush was president for eight years. Even with another president coming into office in a week, some of y’all still haven’t gotten over Bush, and will probably blame him for every mistake that Obama will make as president.

So, to all those who say those of us who are not Obama lovers need to just get over it and join the Love Train, it ain’t going to happen any more than you’ll start singing George Bush’s praises. Obama needs to earn respect. He doesn’t deserve it just because he’s black and people think he deserves a free ride or should be treated delicately. As president, Obama needs to be questioned, and challenged, and held accountable in the same way Bush was. And, if we think he’s making a stupid mistake and doing something we disagree with, then we need to say so. It comes with the territory – get over it.

I guess what you described and how you described it does have something to do with Obama being the first black President. As long as Bill Clinton was labeled the first black President, it didn’t seem to bother people at all because Bill was still white and Camelot still fill the hearts of people who believe Bill was everything they wanted. As a matter of fact most women felt Bill was more to them then their own husbands. Bill Clinton was right up there with how you have just described the inauguration of President elect Obama.

Why would you need an “explanation” when you were apprehended on a field of battle, without a uniform, shooting at people? As unlawful combatants, they should have been shot on sight. And as far as “contemplating violence”, they were doing far more than “contemplating” when apprehended.

what can you do when even the pravda laugh at you for the con man you have for president?

http://english.pravda.ru/opinion/columnists/106866-0/

Barack Obama, AKA Barry Obama, Barry Soetoro, Barry Sutoro, Barack Soetoro is a liar, a con man and a fraud.

But, at least you won’t hear any lies from Obama’s Kenyan family, because the Kenyan government put out a Gag Order to keep them from talking to media people.

Barack Obama is a con man because he is making promises that he can’t keep. He has already proven he conned the voters by his chosen cabinet and staff. The World is beginning to realize that he has not changed anything. But the World is going to find out that his chosen associates to help him, as he says in his own words “Rule” over America, are by far the very worst that America has to offer. They will make the Bush and Clinton administrations look like Boy Scouts.

America ’s major media has protected him, lied for him, slandered and libeled his Presidential opponents and viciously attacked and labeled anyone who questions his value as “Conspiracy Nuts” or “Racists”.

That is about to change. America’s major media has as a sole function, not to report the news, but to shape public opinion. During his campaign, they shaped Obama into a patient and compassionate gift from Heaven. Now, slowly, they are asking questions about him. Soon, they will shape his image into a hideous beast beyond comprehension. The evidence is available to prove that his ideals, his policies and his stated goals are to transform America into something the Nazis could only dream about: Youth Corps, Forced labor, socialism for the rich, paid for by the poor, military in America’s streets, all leading to complete absolute domination over the American people.

My country is the Earth. Flags are just mere symbols of real estate. I can get along with just about anyone normal and respectful. All others are ignored, avoided or eliminated. The first two work well 99.99% of the time. This blog is very interesting because of the brilliancy and stupidity of its visitors. But I admit it, I get a kick out the people who don’t understand my viewpoints.

I might have “obaminationmania” as well, if he would pay my taxes. Now that would we some promised hope of change that I could bank on! But you are stuck here, writing every day, every hour, pathetically and desperately trying to convince us that you are so loved and admired all over the world.

LOL, never heard a story more delusional.

Jan 15, 2009 - 7:12 am 79. Rachel Peepers:

Obamamania as some say; meaning I guess the people who write about him and who seem to go a bit overboard in their adoration of the man, (especially compared to their writings about George Bush,) seems to be more pervasive than hoola hoops were in the 1950’s. I thought media mania was reserved for rock stars or serial killers. Live and Learn.

To me, though, a diehard Republican, albeit a young one, a girl still in college, not only am I fascinated by Obamamania, but I find Obama, the brown eyed handsome man, to be extremely instructive. For me, the whole political ball of wax has been a great learning experience.

First of all, I have learned that not paying income taxes is not quite as important as I was once taught. I now realize my decision to underpay or not pay my taxes (I work full time in the summer) is simply, as Harry Reid says, and Obama suggests, a glitch in the road. I’m delighted to now know that late payment is fine, and results in no fines; especially if it paves the way to an important job in the government, like Treasury Director. Even better, I won’t be required to pay interest on my late payments to the IRS. Which someday might save me a lot of money. Or maybe I’ll just defer paying my taxes until I’m offered a high ranking government job. I don’t know. I’ll have to think that one through.

Second, it is educational for me (especially since I plan to go to law school) to now know that the ethical concept of “Conflict of Interest” is largely a theoretical construct, and not to be considered a deal breaker, especially when seeking governmental employment. Hillary Clinton has been nominated for Secretary of State, and she has more conflicts of interest than Bill Clinton John Edwards and Elliot Spitzer have girlfriends combined.

But it doesn’t matter. Good, now I know. And if someday I’m in governmental service, I can take that knowledge to the bank.

Thirdly, from now on, since I’m pro-life, if my conscience causes me to bomb abortion clinics, and no one is hurt, it’s a load off my mind to find out that my actions fall under the heading of “Pranks” as Mr. Ayers states, and as the nation’s chief law enforcer, Barack Obama tacitly agrees with. Silly me. I used to think pranks were like when you’d TP a tree in front of some graduating high school senior’s home. Luckily, between Barack Obama and Bill Ayers, I’m no longer confusing pranks and felonies.

Then too, Barack Obama has educated me on the issue of unborn killing, even in the case of botched abortions, where the unborn is born alive by mistake and then killed. According to Mister Obama, this is simply part of life in 2009.

Barack also has taught me some economics.

A prime lesson: Five or so years ago, Democratic members of Congress insisted rules be ignored so that minorities would be given special sub prime loans which loan officers had little reason to think would be paid on time. To me, Rachel, this seemed like a risky idea. And while Mister Obama now agrees this did incalculable damage to our economy, he’s now educating us as to how to solove the economic mess it caused.

Mister Obama has decided that we can spend out way out of this minority loan caused recession by first, not penalizing anyone for nonpayment of loans (which sounds like his income tax philosophy) and second, running up the deficit by trillions of dollars. I guess the old Democratic belief that PacMan like deficit spending is okay is now being put to the test.

Silly me, I used to think that taking a big budget deficit, which I liken to an overinflated balloon, and increasing spending dramatically, which I liken to trying to double the size of that overinflated balloon, would eventually cause that balloon (the economy) to go bust (go to pieces; collaspe). I guess I was wrong. Someone recently on TV said that the multi-billion dollar spending initiatives Barack is proposing is like putting gasoline on a economy made of kindling wood and then striking a match. Holy smokes, I guess, Neil Cavuto didn’t know what he was talking about.

When all is said and done, over the last few months, Barack has taught me a lot. The only fly in the ointment is this unsettling queasy feeling in the pit of my stomach that won’t go away; deep down I have to wonder where Barack acquired all this knowledge. It all makes sense when I hear him explain it. But, then, when I start critically thinking about what he said, I get the feeling he’s selling snake oil, and my country is buying it by the caseload. I know that sounds silly, but that’s kind of the feeling I get.

Who knows? Maybe it’s me. I sure hope it’s not him.

You may or may not be stupid, but what you most definitely ARE is a FRAUD.

You are either a fraud to the nation(s) whose passports you bear, or you’re a fraud to your self-asserted “Citizen of the World” ideal.

Which is it?

I wish the history of the US and their current mindset was not such that they are so excited by this empty suit.

No Prisoners,

Hold on a second about the baby having. I plan to wait till I graduate from law school, and have been working in government for at least five years. But then, it’s no holds barred.

As to babies growing up just like me. My Dad says although I have a sarcastic streak as wide as Hillary’s thighs (which make California’s giant redwoods look like toothpicks), I generally am polite, witty, tastefully attired, pretty in a tomboyish kind of way, prefer Scotch as my drug of choice, (neat)and am a conservative Republican. Dad calls me a “good looking Ann Coulter without the rough edges”.

Hugs,
Rachel

Jan 15, 2009 - 4:18 pm 86. Rachel Peepers:

Karin,

I have no idea why Democrats seem to have this laissaz faire attitude about abiding by only the laws they find acceptable(feel like following.) Of course, something can be legal and still be wrong. But here, too, I find Democrats falling on the wrong side of the moral/ethical choices. Lying for example, often is legal yet Democrats seem to do it with a kind of impunity that leaves the rest of us rather speechless.

Examples of both:
Barack’s home buying practices with Tony Resko. And shameless wife.
Dodd’s ultra low mortgage from Countrywide, unavailable to working Americans.
Michelle Obama’s pay for play show up when you feel like it hospital job complete with huge pay raises.
Bill Ayers characterization of police station bombing as “pranks.”
Jeremy Wright’s painting the World trade center massacre with a “the chickens coming home to roost” bristling with hate brush.
Obama’s lack of condemnation for the civil rights abuses
foisted on Plumber Joe.
Barack Obama’s refusal to produce an original birth certificate as proof that he’s an American citizen, qualifying him to run for President of the United States.
Al Franken’s blatant vote fraud to win the Minnesota election.
John Edwards holier than thou attitude about morality and then boinking a blond bimbo who never before shot a documentary to shoot a domumentary.

Karin, the more examples I think of, the madder I get that these lying, cheating hypocritcal dirt bags pulled the wood over more than half of the voting public.

Jan 15, 2009 - 4:44 pm 87. Rachel Peepers:

Karin,
Pulled the “wood”? I meant, of course, wool.

Jan 15, 2009 - 4:51 pm 88. Joe:

Party hardy Barry! Wednesday you have to go to work and actually pretend to be interested in doing a good job for Americans as “President.” Try not to choke on the lies you tell us during your speech, especially the part about protecting and upholding the Constitution. Oh, and good luck with that stellar Cabinet you’ve assembled, that really inspires confidence in your judgement with “The People”.

Jan 15, 2009 - 5:49 pm 89. Bilgeman:

Dear Mr. President-Elect:

We all realize your gift for scripted oratory, and many of us have been completely bedazzled by it, to the point of having quite taken leave of their senses.

I would caution you however to stick to what your speechwriters have posted on your teleprompter and not try extemporizing in any way, shape,or form.

The last Black fellow who spoke to a nationwide audience from the Capital Mall sadly went off the cuff, and ended up babbling “Muslim Mathematics” and exhorting people to:

“…atone to the “A” tone!”.

(whatever the Hell THAT meant).

It went over like a wet beer-fart at High Mass.
Even among the million poor chaps who had made the journey,(at considerable personal expense), to be a part of that confabulation.

I’m sure you will agree that a similar such debacle simply will not do.

Stick to the script, deliver the platitudes and bromides with your usual simulacrum of sincere conviction, and you’ll no doubt “break a leg”.

All the best.

Your Pal;

Bilge

It’s not name-calling when it’s factual.
The fact that your chosen reply was to quibble about the label rather than address the substance is really all the verification needed to validate the fact that you are indeed a fraud.

“People need ID to travel, it’s just a piece of paper.”

No, people do NOT need “just a piece of paper” to travel. The lack of a document doesn’t physically preclude you from self-ambulation.

If you indeed are a “citizen of the World”, as you bruit yourself to be, then discard your passport(s) and learn first-hand how ridiculous your claim is.

i didn’t give much of a care about charles and diana’s wedding, given that i always thought prince charles, icky. although, admittedly i did catch a glimpse of her dress trailing up the church steps.

much like the princess diana worshippers, it is the obama cult followers who twitch me out.
despite his strange resurrecting of the clinton white house, by his own design, they remain his obedient servants.

from where, though, does this pagaentry and pomp come. obama’s inauguration is already selling out bromo seltzer at rite aid. the expense of the luxurious caviar, lobster and champagne ball is a guaranteed stomach ache for most americans, who are trying desperately to stay afloat on pasta or worse, ramen noodles. and, heaven knows, most of us would like to be spared another obama moment between greek columns, emerging from a puff of hollywood smoke.

talk about inauguration balls.
to further complicate american policy in the middle east, obama has ingrid matteson, a loathesome creature, president of the isna, to “lead the invocation prayer”.
a prominent supporter of hamas, and with ties to the america-israel-reviling muslim brotherhood, matteson supports and rallies jew killers on her website.

obama’s solid support for israel was signed yesterday.
