Yes, Palin is smart, but in AK, she’s had to become skilled at things other than things of national interest. She can hunt; and fish; and sail; and fly; and run a business; and run a town; and run a state.

As far as energy expertise, she didn’t have it when appointed to an oil board. Most woud treat that as a no-show job. She, instead, learned the trade. Now, she heads the Governors Association on Energy. THEY think she knows something, anyway! Is she an expert? No. But she does understand it from a governmental point of view? Yes. That’s what’s important.

Still think she’s stupid?

The expectations may have been low for those influenced by the MSM’s “reviews” of the the Couric interview, but the bar she needed to clear (she had to make absolutely zero mistakes, and clearly show herself as the more impressive VP candidate to avoid being savaged by the media) was the highest I’ve ever seen it for any politician since Reagan. And she cleared it beautifully.

Palin is the number one reason that I’m not voting republican this election. She’s likable and friendly, but she’s not smart and dangerously underprepared. She’s totally clueless on national issues. Just because your state has a lot of oil doesn’t mean you’re an “energy expert” – that’s a laughable idea. I guess that means I’ll be writing Ron Paul. I can’t support Palin or anyone who would pick such a superficial running mate.

Yes she did speak directly to the American People.

Unfortunately what the American People really wanted was to hear her answer direct questions. Sarah Palin is a perfect example of what is wrong with the GOP. When the party revels in ignorance, it panders to the lowest common denominator, as is evidenced by the hateful speech at most McCain and Palin events now.
