PC Effect, Not Bradley Effect, May Haunt Obama

If Obama underperforms on Election Day compared to the latest polls, the reason may not be race.

Barack Obama has recently improved in the polls and is strongly favored to win our presidential election. Should he fail in his attempt, a mythical excuse now hovers in the ether as a means to beatify him. Racism will be fingered as the rationale behind the public’s rejection. This explanation is entirely irrational but will soothe the tender sensitivities of Democrats, as it bolsters their (seemingly innate) feelings of self-righteousness. Tying Obama’s loss to racism will burnish pride. Manufactured will be the conclusion that pseudo-liberals are more morally advanced than their conservative foes. The political left will claim that they were above race and point to the mixed ethnicity of their champion, whereas it will be implied that the right was not “ready” for a man of Obama’s stature and alleged excellence.

Various mainstream media members have already embraced this illogical line of argumentation. CNN’s Jack Cafferty proudly circulated the fallacy, noting: “Race is arguably the biggest issue in this election, and it’s one that nobody’s talking about. The differences between Barack Obama and John McCain couldn’t be more well-defined. Obama wants to change Washington. McCain is a part of Washington and a part of the Bush legacy. Yet the polls remain close. Doesn’t make sense … unless it’s race.”

Yet Mr. Cafferty overlooked the fact that leftists everywhere, such as Kansas Governor Kathleen Sebelius, breathed so much life into this topic that it may well be able to transport itself to the polls on November 4. Sebelius proclaimed, “Have any of you noticed that Barack Obama is part African-American? That may be a factor. All the code language, all that doesn’t show up in the polls. And that may be a factor for some people.”

Of course, allusions to racism are but a false dichotomy. There is a plethora of legitimate reasons for rejecting Barack Obama as president. That we must either endorse his candidacy or admit to being malignant racists is a risible notion. Much has been written about what is known as the Bradley effect (peruse this fine article by Stephen Green that appeared at Pajamas Media for more information). Specifically, the effect suggests that white voters may lie to pollsters about whom they are going to support if the candidate in question is black. The phenomenon is referenced whenever a black candidate garners impressive numbers in exit polling, but manages to under-perform once the final votes are tallied. (Of course, in disharmony with this effect, John Kerry was a perfect example of exit polling data not matching final vote tallies.) It receives its name from black politician Tom Bradley, who lost the 1982 California governor’s race after being significantly ahead in pre-election polling. To those who buy into the theory, Obama’s lead must be weighty in order for it to endure.

Perhaps its popularity is what caused Sebelius and Cafferty to intimate that the American people possess a nineteenth-century sensibility in regard to race. As always, the mainstream media were happy to lend their emotive keyboards to the process of validating these slanders, as demeaning the general population is a cause they cherish. They highlighted (re: celebrated) a recent poll from Stanford which purportedly gave credence to such pessimism. The academic survey found that “racial misgivings” may reduce Obama’s aggregate results. In the words of one of the researchers, “[t]here are a lot fewer bigots than there were 50 years ago, but that doesn’t mean there’s only a few bigots.” A closer examination of the data showcased that a third of white Democrats are the individuals who may harbor negative views of blacks.

There’s an excellent post from Zombie that ties into this analysis from a slightly different angle. Well worth a read.

I really don’t care why people don’t vote for the socialist tax raise and income spread arounder, just as long as they don’t vote for him.

The hyper-sensitivity of Obama’s supporters, surrogates and the MSM almost assure that any response to a poll that does not support Obama will be labeled “racist”. Even if an individual details specific policy differences with Obama’s campaign, such differences will be explained away as the result of racism, and the “fact” that the speaker must be in denial.

Yes, Geraldine Ferraro had it right, and I don’t understand how she can now argue his merits with a straight face. At 44, the only successes he can claim are completing his Ivy League schooling and winning a few uncontested elections. And that qualifies him for what?

Oct 18, 2008 - 5:02 am 5. Ash_N:

I hope people will vote on the issues & not listen to MSM – the likes of Cafferty, Dowd et el. In Canada we learned the hard way – Socialist policies will NOT work. We are now center-right & the only Country in the G7 to show balanced budgets. Tax & spend “re-distribution” never works.

Very true. From the very beginning the Axelrod/Obama gambit has been animated by the calculation that the Americans’ political correctness without being as large as suspected, will have a paralazying effect on analyzing/deciding against Obama – and a good point to further apply the lever of “racism”.
McCain’s self-destructive attitude in April in the N. Carolina/ Wright ad matter (situation/moment in time which should have been a great starting point in defining Obama as he really is) shows that Axelrod’s assumption was right, and McCain was/ still is paralyzed by political correctness – as far as whether McCain will be able to limp successfully throught the limiting (and unilateral) game rules set by liberals, well…

These are the same folks by the millions that are not in foreclosure but have told the bank on the phone dozens of times, “I sent the check” I am shocked you have not recieved by now. Remeber Obama has a list of denials and polsters do not have a clue to what people really will do.

TONIGHT,GOV SARAH PALIN IS TO APPEAR ON “SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE”. ANY BETS THE RATINGS SOAR? THIS AND THE CROWDS ATTENDING PALIN EVENTS TELLS ME THAT THE POLLSTERS ARE NOT BEING HONEST AND ARE LYING THRU THERE TEETH TRYING TO HELP THE COMMIE OBAMMIE. AFTER ALL,IN 1980 ALL THE POLLS SHOWED REAGAN LOSING TO CAR DUH BY ANYWHERE FROM 6-10%. REAGAN WON 54-46. IN 1984 ALL POLLS SHOWED REAGAN WINNING BY 3-5%, HE ACTUALLY WON 59-40. THESE POLLS PURPOSEFULLY OVER POLL DIMS IN THE HOPES THAT CONSERVATIVES WILL LOSE HOPE AND NOT VOTE. I DONT MUCH LIKE MCSHAME ,BUT HES MUCH BETTER THAN THE COMMIE SCUM ALTERNATIVE. If Obama loses on election day. It will be becuase of race!simply put. I could live with McCain ( not really) but I want move to Canada. But if Palin is in the whitehouse McCain is 72 years old. When a little girl in Florida can’t wear a McCain/Palin shirt for fear of being labeled as a racist by her classmates, then I think we can be fairly sure the PC effect is real and pervasive.

I was waiting for someone to write a piece articulating the problem the way it really is. Thanks, Mr. Chapin. I hope this article is widely read, because my own feeling is that you’ve nailed the problem and there might be big surprises come election day. And it’s not because of racism- it’s fear of being called a racist.

Oct 18, 2008 - 9:05 am 15. ex-democrat:

the constant drumbeat about the bradley effect is not merely a pre-positioned excuse, it is first and foremost a further attempt to guilt trip whites into voting for obama because of his race. in other words, uncommited whites are being told they should vote for obama to counteract this allegedly pernicious phenomenon.

The only thing this election is going to establish is whether or not the United States is definitely moving in the direction of collectivism or rejecting that trend. All the rest is just the stuff that the poor Joe the Plumbers of the world have to clean up after us.

Ash_N of Canada has this down pat. Every socialist experiment in history has failed. And socialism will always fail. It’s incompatible with human nature.

Oct 18, 2008 - 9:36 am 17. Tina Trent:

Cooking the books on race questions: academicians have long reserved for themselves the right to quietly count Hispanics as white when doing so bolsters an outcome that impugns whites. Unbelievably, our federal hate crime statistics gathering protocol does this by counting Hispanic offenders as technically “white” but Hispanic victims as “Hispanic,” thus shuffling responsibility for Hispanic-on-black offenses onto whites. In L.A. County, virtually all “white-on-black” bias incidents are actually conflicts between Hispanics and blacks, but whites get fingered. Then the numbers enter the federal accounting, and academicians, pundits and activists get to scream about the “old scourge of white racism” while knowing perfectly well that what they’re pointing at is black gang-versus-Hispanic gang violence that has nothing at all to do with white people.

The Bureau of Justice Statistics has been challenged repeatedly over their choice to call Hispanic hate offenders “white” but Hispanic victims “Hispanic.” The only response I’ve ever seen is that asking about this policy is racist.

It sounds as if that election study does the same thing. The lesson is you have to be very careful when you read studies that purport to examine behavior or attitudes by race.

Race shmace. Obama is 50% white 43% Arab and 7% black. This is per Laurie Roth show the best independent out there. I would vote for Colin Powell Condi Rice or Michael Steele in a heartbeat even over McCain. Obama is an empty suit puppet of Ayers Sociialist/Marxist. Just words just speeches . Listen close to his words and speeches you dumb dopes. You saying if Obama loses it will only be because of race is obsurd. Sure there are a few people who may vote those reasons, but not the majority. Don’t forget, it is just as racist to vote for him just because he is black, as it is to not vote him for the same reason.

I voted for Obama in the Missouri primary. I saw him as new and someone different. Then I find out he is no different than the rest. Rev. Wright, Bill Ayers, and accorn. And of course the standard ” It’s all lies” response. I think Obama is as dishonest as they come and will not vote him again. It has nothing to do with race.

Everyone’s slinging around the term racist these days. It has been aimed at a girl wearing a McCain/Palin tee shirt while John Murtha has flung it at his own Pennsylvania constituency ! (just the tip of the “racist” iceberg)

If Barack Obama loses, as he should, it’s because he’s an Empty Suit who favors the creation of an anti-Constitutional, all encompassing Nanny State.

The fact that the empty suit is of mixed genetic heritage is irrelevant.

For some truth mixed with comic relief…

Obama’s campaign has been extremely successful in modifying the thought processes of people who attend campaign rallies. It doesn’t matter whether the person is black, white, brown, yellow, red, olive, pink, or purple. A human brain is a human brain, and the Obama campaign understands human brains and how to turn them.

Go ahead, go to a rally. Open your mind to the One. You will see. You will change. You will hope. You will understand that McCain is evil and Palin is a she-devil. I went to a rally. Now I see more clearly. You can too.

This “Race” stuff is the oldest trick in the book. Go back in history – There was a time when every newly “Independent” socialist country in Africa used this excuse to get funds/aid from Great Britain, IMF & the Commonwealth. It was dubbed “racist” to refuse them loans. This was especially true of Kenya, Uganda & Ghana. Kenya even once threatened to disrupt the opening of the Commonwealth Conference (the Queen of England was presiding) because of the “racist” policies.
The BBC even spoofed this event in one of their comedy series “Yes Prime Minister”.

Frankly, Obama supporters have to use race as a reason for Obama to lose because it is so much easier than facing the fact that they picked a loser–a man with no experience, no truly outstanding character traits and one who had more baggage than an amtrak passenger train. All he has is a good speaking voice and a very shrewd campaign manager. Oh, and possibly some questionable financial backers. http://www.pennypresslv.com/Obama%27s_Use_of_Hidden_Hypnosis_techniques_in_His_Speeches.pdf

I’m Black and I am so sick of hearing Obama and his surrogates shout “racism” I don’t know what to do! If Obama becomes President, every time someone criticizes or even disagrees with him, it will be because of “racism.” I dread the thought of this coming to past because I don’t want to hear “racism” over and over again for the next four years.

I agree with the article. Anyone who says that they are for McCain is immediately called a racist. For me, a Black person, I am called an “Uncle Tom.” So, what do we do? Not say anything. Let the Obama people rant.

But when election day comes, I am Proudly Voting for John McCain!

Oct 18, 2008 - 11:54 am 26. RE:

Alice Finkle,

The Palovian experience at the Obama rally was the culmination of several years indoctrination. There was nothing spontaneous about it.

Obama just uses the right trigger words. He should know them given his close friendship with the ‘Education reformers’ William Ayers and Bernadine Dohrn.

I’m so glad I read Orwell and Solzhenitsyn before college years ago before the Marxist virus spread into elementary school. Nowdays, kids need an innoculation it before grade school.

‘Get to the Kids’ is very much a Marxist thing. ‘The One’ could not have happened without it.

Oct 18, 2008 - 11:57 am 27. iconoclast:

I will vote for John McCain. At least he doesn’t search for a racial excuse for every flaw and attempt to use the race card shut down criticism. Unlike his opponent.

As for being a racist, you can find any number of people–Reverend Wright comes to mind–that say I am a racist just for being “white” in Amerikka. So how can I be more of a racist for voting for McCain?

Time for Americans to stop being manipulated by dishonest race baiters.

Oct 18, 2008 - 12:00 pm 28. Danae:

Racists are people who use race to further ideas. People who are NOT racists point to ideas based on results or facts having nothing to do with the irrelevant issue of skin color. Draw your own conclusions, but what this says to me is this: Democrats are racists because they use RACE as a tool to further their end.

Obama losing has nothing to do with his skin color. It is the simple fact that he is a SOCIALIST along with his violent allies and viscous associates. Not to mention his lack of being open and honest with the people about who he is and where he comes from. Not to mention the use of, training of and employment of organizations that spout equality while oppressing their members and robbing them of their labors and their votes, I am speaking of ACORN.

THAT is why he is going to lose.

“THE CROWDS ATTENDING PALIN EVENTS TELLS ME THAT THE POLLSTERS ARE NOT BEING HONEST AND ARE LYING THRU THERE TEETH TRYING TO HELP THE COMMIE OBAMMIE.”

So, in your world, right winger Scott Rasmussen and right wing Fox News have pretended to be right wing for years but are really communists who are helping Obama by making it look like he’s winning in the election, which will somehow keep all those crowds of voters away from the polls and ensure an Obama victory and a permanent communist government.

Okay, clearly you’ve thought this out.

Oct 18, 2008 - 1:00 pm 30. J. B.:

Sebelius is an idiot. Barack Effendi has NO African-American ancestry. Kenya, the homeland of his father, is in Africa. And, before I’m accused of racism, my great grandmother was born in a fugitive slave camp in Southern Ohio during the Civil War, the daughter of a fugitive slave. Obama has no roots in the African-American community. And, no, I don’t believe he’s Muslim. Nor do I believe he’s Christian. He seems to have a total obsession with himself.

Oct 18, 2008 - 1:17 pm 31. SAF:

Well the poles do tend to be biased towards the Dems as history has shown, It is probably true in this election as well, soon we will see.

Blaming race for the reason Obama’s pole numbers aren’t higher is the classic magicians ruse of having you look left while he does the stuff on his right. In this case screaming race is meant to distract us from his virtually non-existent track record and dubious associations.

Now I’ll buy the argument that you won’t vote for McCain either because he is too liberal or too conservative. I’ll buy the argument that you don’t want four more years of a republican president. I’ll buy the argument that Palin is unqualified for the job.

But I won’t buy the argument that I am a racist because I find his experience shallow, and the company he keeps makes me nervous. Voting against him because of these valid reasons is my duty as an American.

The real pity is a qualified black candidate elected to the presidency would be a great boon to the US. Unfortunately for us all that can’t happen. Obama isn’t the guy.

Oct 18, 2008 - 1:35 pm 32. TexEd:

Well, I was going to vote for him! Voting for a black just made me feel superior. He seemed so fresh, so new, so (like the man said) magic.
But, over the months it became clear that, black or not, there is nothing about him that is honest, fresh or magic.
He talks the right words but then conceals his entire background. His supporters, including the media, are vicious in their attacks not only on his opponent (that is to be expected) but on the innocents around his opponent.
Obama’s tactics are exactly what I’d expect Kwame Kilpatrick or Al Sharpton to use. He picked the wworst possible slug to be his running mate. Obama is an empty suit, another celebrity who thinks his every word is gospel and has weight. No, Obama is a Chicago pol, a dishonorable man and I’m glad I realized that before I did something that I could not undo. I’m voting for John.

Oct 18, 2008 - 1:36 pm 33. zeppenwolf:

Republicans are going to vote for McCain, whether they are racist or not.

The only votes Obama is going to lose from racism will be from racist Democrats who OTHERWISE would have voted the Democrat ticket.

It’s pretty obvious, don’t ya think? But then, logic has never been a lefty’s strong suit.

All of which assumes, for the sake of argument, that Obama’s racial heritage is a net loss for him, rather than a boon, which is clearly ludicrous.

Nevermind the black vote, put even that aside. Speaking solely of “whites”, for every anti-black racist whose vote would flip out in voter land, there must be at least a hundred white-guilt-addicts who are tickled pink (sorry!) about the prospect of showing the world how enlightened we are, moving to “post-racial” politics, et cetera ad infinitum.

Oct 18, 2008 - 1:52 pm 34. Mickey:

Brady effect hell! I would be fine with a Black President, IF he were qualified and if his/her love were for this country…sadly, that i NOT the case with Barack Obama.

Shame on the media and the Democrats for perpetrating the hoax that Barack Obama is African-American! HE IS 44% AFRICAN-ARAB!

I agree and would add that a white man with Obama’s credentials would not get to be a state representative.

Oct 18, 2008 - 2:01 pm 36. It's not the color, stupid - it's the agenda!:

The only people bring “race” into this election have been Democrats…why? The fact that Barack isn’t even an African-American with 95% of the Black vote seems to call into question this whole mantra.

Obama is a multimillionaire and he says he wants to pay more in taxes. Great, last time I checked, people can give away as much of their money as they like. So, somebody should tell Barack to put HIS money where his mouth is and give use HIS money! Seriously, before the election, give away the millions. Then, I think we should hit up all those other elites that have gotten rich as public servants to fork it over:

Nancy Pelosi, I think she has something like over 50 million. I want her money so…I should have hers, right? Buffet and Soroes have billions and have made a lot of money with the hedge funds (thanks Democrats) so hell, let’s take theirs too. There is some redistribution and it is coming from people that truly want to give us their money, right?

AN IN-DEPTH VIEW OF THE OBAMA HERITAGE Will Burnett

As the 2008 Presidential campaign progressed, bits and pieces of the information about Barack Obama that were being presented by the media did not fit the actual pattern of life of the potential first family. Thus, our curiosity caused us to do in-depth research and analysis on some of the facets of Obama’s life. Our information was gathered from historical books and documents, other later-published sources, and from recent history in daily newspapers, both domestic and international. We feel this information should be known to every voter before the November election.

In 1959/60, the first two airlifts of youth from Kenya were made to the United States. The purpose of the airlifts was to educate African youth so that they could then return to Kenya as leaders. Obama’s father was one of the students, and shortly after his arrival in Hawaii he met Obama’s mother. Obama was born in 1961. By birth Obama was automatically a member of the African Luo tribe. Shortly after the first airlifts, the African American Student Foundation was formed which has since sponsored educations for Luos including those claiming ‘political asylum’.

Obama’s father and many of the young Africans who participated in the airlifts were radical Arab Muslim Luos. This was a turbulent period in Kenyan history, with the Luos in open rebellion against European colonial authority, engaging in terrorism and having Communist associations and close ties to Russia and China.

Once in the United States, the Luo youth organized with the intention of affecting Kenyan politics from here. They also involved themselves in United States politics, which began to focus on African-American uprisings. Obama’s father left his mother and him after two years to go to Harvard. It went beyond a desire to get an education, the Luos were working towards large political goals on the mainland.

During the absence of Obama’s father, Kenya had declared its independence; and a Luo, Jaramongi Oginga Odinga, reportedly Obama’s uncle, had been elected Vice President of the new government. Obama’s father went to work for the government when he returned to Kenya. However, Oginga Odinga’s radical Muslim and communist ideas soon made inevitable a collision with Kenya’s President Kenyatta. In 1965, Kenyatta assumed an anticommunist stance; and in 1966, Odinga’s left wing was driven out of the party. Obama’s father was involved, and Obama has simply said that a conflict with Kenyatta destroyed his father’s career, failing to give the reason why.

The Kenyan government then centralized with a single-party system, however the Luos continued to violently agitate. In 1978, Daniel arap Moi became Kenya’s second President, and the Luos together with others attempted a coup in 1982. The assassination of a Luo in 1990, pressured Moi into allowing a multi-party election. The pre-election period was characterized by deadly ethnic violence between the Luo Muslims and the Christians. In 1992, the elections were held. Oginga Odinga ran for President, but he was defeated; and his son, Raila Odinga was elected to the Parliament. In the summer of 1992, Barack and his wife-to-be Michelle visited Kenya. Presumably Obama was campaigning for the Odingas, just as he later did in 2006 for Raila’s run for the Presidency of Kenya. By the way, this was the same summer that Obama says he worked as a community organizer in Chicago.

President Moi had resisted the 1992 election, saying that the Muslims did not deserve government representation because they were “behind the slave trade during which thousands of Africans were sold outside the continent.” He was making reference to the fact that the Luos are Middle Eastern Arabs who moved to Sudan in the 1400s, and emigrated from there to many African nations. The Luo’s primary economic activity was slave trading African blacks to the Arab lands. Reportedly, the practice still continues. Ironically, early Luo slave trade routes crossed to the Americas.

In Africa, generally the Luo do not inter-marry with African blacks, although it has been reported that Obama has one African black ancestor in his father’s side, making him about 6% African black, 44% Arab and 50% white. If not for her, Obama would be half-Arab and half-white. This means that he is not legally African-American.

For those who missed it, some information is repeated here that is contained in “Where Has Obama Been?” In 1996, bin Laden issued his fatwa, or declaration of war against the United States, that urged the killing of Americans worldwide. By 1998, he bombed the United States Embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. It is not coincidence that he started in Kenya. He had lots of support there from the Luos. Also, it is not coincidence that bin Laden went to Sudan in 1992, after he was kicked out of Saudi Arabia. Sudan is the Luo homeland. There is that year of 1992 again, when Obama was in Kenya. Although he visited at least 4 other nations during his 2006 trip, not much is out there on his 1992 visit. And it is not coincidence that Obama was in the Middle East in college, and that he has long associations with terrorists, ETC. Overlooking the many coincidences in the Luo and Obama pasts is a dangerous kind of denial.

Since the mid-1990s, bin Laden’s al Qaeda has spread across Africa, incorporating tribal battles into it own jihad. As part of its thrust, al Qaeda is providing support to opposition leaders during elections who will agree to implement sharia law if elected. Raila Odinga, the same mentioned above who is reportedly Obama’s first cousin, is one opposition leader who signed a memorandum of understanding to implement sharia law if elected in his run for President of Kenya in 2007. As mentioned above, during Obama’s visit to Kenya in 2006, Obama campaigned for Odinga against our ally, the Kenyan government, all the while lecturing the Kenyan government on its corruption. The Kenyan government filed a formal complaint against Obama with the United States government, and called him “Odinga’s stooge.” When Odinga lost the election, the killings started, and over a thousand Christians were killed until he was taken into the Kenyan power structure as Prime Minister. Claiming election fraud and election killings have become classic jihad in Africa.

We need to ask what Obama’s full role was in the recent election in Kenya. Obama contacted Odinga frequently when the post-election revolution was going on and when terrorist killings slew the Christian voters supporting the other party. To go a step further, what has Obama’s role been in African politics over the past 25 years? Obama has told us that he made at least two other trips to Kenya. We know that he was there during the campaign period for the 1992 elections, but we also need to ask what he was doing in Kenya during his trip in the 1980s.

Similar events to those in Kenya recently happened in the Zimbabwe election. As in Kenya there is only a 10% Muslim population, so attacks were against Christians; in Zimbabwe, we saw a battle between Mugabe, representing a moderate Muslim government, and Tsvangirai, representing the hardliner radical Muslims. Tsvangirai lost the election against Mugabe, then he claimed election corruption and the killings started. This is jihad m.o., but there was a chilling twist to what happened in Zimbabwe. Raila Odinga interjected himself into the Zimbabwe situation; and as Mugabe struggled to fight off the radical opposition, Odinga and others painted him as the problem and demanded that he step down. Ultimately, Mugabe was forced to take Tsvangirai into the power structure. Also noteworthy is the fact that 2004 news reports said that Zimbabwe had become al Qaeda’s newest hub, and news reports have placed Odinga in contact with opposition leadership in Zimbabwe since at least 2006.

What we have is Odinga, with Obama’s support and countenance, at the cutting edge of bin Laden’s jihad in Africa. Odinga’s and al Qaeda’s names surface in common in terrorist activities in many African nations. Obama’s trip to Kenya and 4 other African nations in 2006, were covered by the international press, with mention of side meetings with opposition leaders, and that Odinga was often by his side. Odinga has also visited Obama in the United States many times, and allegedly they have stayed in regular contact, with Obama shying from him only since feeling heat from the relationship in his own campaign for President of the United States. The political chaos and guerrilla activity in Africa over the past 10 years has been viewed by Africans as old tribal battles. In reality, they appear to be part of a takeover by Arab extremists who intend to establish Africa as an Islam nation. The list starting with Kenya and Zimbabwe, can be extended to Somalia, and so on throughout Africa.

Obama is directly tied to what is happening in Africa. It is about controlling oil, and implementing sharia law. This overlays other serious matters, such as the affair known as Wantagate, which places Obama in the position of a conflict of interest with the United States, Africa and other global parties. More about that another time.. For now, the question needs to be asked, is Obama working in the best interest of the United States? In 2006 while campaigning for Odinga, he hadn’t yet been elected to the Senate. Or has he been working in the interest of himself, his tribe and his pals?

In light of the fact that Obama has taken many steps to hide and spin his ties to Islam and his activities in Kenya and at least 4 other countries in Africa, he is suspect. Most Americans are unaware of the extent of the Obama-Africa-Luo connections because the liberal media is protecting him at all costs to get him elected, even to the detriment of the citizens of the United States. And what has happened to our updated and expanded intelligence service?

There are questions of all kinds surrounding Obama that would have already been scrutinized and reported upon with other politicians. The American public needs to be made aware of the movement of the global jihad in Africa, and Obama’s and Odinga’s ties to al Qaeda and other Muslim extremists there. There is much controversy about the birth certificate that challenges whether Obama was actually born in Hawaii. There have been reports that Obama may have been born in Kenya, when his mother visited there near the end of her pregnancy term. This issue is raised in a lawsuit filed by a past Pennsylvania Deputy Attorney General. Why aren’t government agencies clarifying this accusation? There is also controversy about other documents from Obama’s past. It is reported that he had an Indonesian passport, and used it to visit Pakistan in 1981; and that his application to law school states he had no other prior name, when actually the names Barry Dunham and Barry Soetoro appear on his earlier documents. Since Obama is running for President of the United States, isn’t it reasonable that any questions regarding his identity are resolved before the election?

Where do the massive amounts of Obama campaign contributions come from? Are the irregular donations that have been reported being investigated by the established agencies of government? Obama’s association with Chicago mobsters are brushed off as ho-hum. As mentioned above, in the summer of 1992, yes, the same summer that he campaigned for the Odingas in Kenya, Obama worked as a community organizer in Chicago. A community organizer in Chicago is like a ward boss for recruiting blacks and for performing other go-fer errands for crime-controlled administration. This group is rife with corruption and should be investigated before the election. We should insist that police intelligence files are looked at to see what they have to say. And how about Obama’s association with the Chicago black Muslims, and the Chicago school meals program?

The radical Luos in Europe jokingly refer to themselves as the taliban there. England, Germany, France and other countries have also provided educations to the Luos. Raila Odinga was educated in East Germany. Odinga and Obama have both carried on in their fathers’ footsteps. Obama said in one of his books that after a conflicted youth, he found himself after he came to know about his father. He changed his name from Barry Soetoro to Barack Hussein Obama, his father’s name. His African family says that in 1980, he announced this name change in order to reassert his African heritage. This was a year before the reported visit to the Middle East on an Indonesian passport. Today we see that those early airlifted students started a push that has propelled the Luos a long way. Barack Obama and his cousin Raila Odinga have risen to the top of United States and African politics. Why haven’t United States citizens been made aware of this and how it came about?

Michelle Obama’s college thesis will not be released by Princeton until after the election. It will be interesting to see it, and it would be interesting to know the real story behind her attendance at a prestigious school. Beyond that, we know that she visited Kenya with Obama before they married, and that she is neck-deep with Obama when it comes to radical Islam. No telling what her thesis says… African American Studies and Middle Eastern Studies in the United States’ universities produce some provocative stuff. Obama’s records at Harvard and other universities will not be released at all.

This leads to just a few more questions. Mohamed El-Erian, a British-educated Egyptian financier and past member of the Harvard faculty, just moved from managing Harvard University’s $35 billion endowment fund, and has arrived in Newport Beach, California, to manage PIMCO’s $740 billion in assets. PIMCO is German owned. What is the relationship in this consortium? Did Obama receive school support from this group at Harvard? PIMCO, under El-Erian’s management, is now in discussions with The New York Federal Reserve Bank to manage huge parts of the $700 billion bailout. Why not?

Oct 18, 2008 - 2:16 pm 38. It's not the color, stupid - it's the agenda!:

… President Moi had resisted the 1992 election, saying that the Muslims did not deserve government representation because they were “behind the slave trade during which thousands of Africans were sold outside the continent.” He was making reference to the fact that the Luos are Middle Eastern Arabs who moved to Sudan in the 1400s, and emigrated from there to many African nations.

I like it but would take it a step further by limiting their gross yearly income to $251K so they are subject to the higher tax bracket as well.

Oct 18, 2008 - 3:59 pm 43. fred:

The Left is trying to work a multifaceted psy-ops campaign against the country. First, they try to shock us and shame us by calling us racists. They hope they can hang on with that rope a dope for the duration.

The next psy-op they try is to get some polling agencies to shade the results more in favor of Obama, to try to discourage Republican voters and get them to stay at home.

They use the media to blitz our minds with Obama adoration, even to the point of consistently trying to advance the interpretation of the debates to make Obama seem the clear cut winner.

Now, the next psy-op they are engaged in, and this one is just pure panic on their part, is the metaphorical, public gang rape of Joe the Plumber.

This is a hugely well-financed campaign on their part. They have all the advantages: money, the media, the universities and schools, most of the legal profession (with Alinsky moles like Jennifer Brunner), and even foreigners contributing to their campaign.

It is David vs. Goliath. We have The Leader of the World and his minions arrayed against us. And yet we still have a chance. None of these powers and power-plays have delivered the knock out blow. He may yet blow us out yet, but as yet it has not been done. McCain is Rocky Balboa. We’re still in the fight and we might pull it out.

zeppenwolf: Republicans are going to vote for McCain, whether they are racist or not.

The only votes Obama is going to lose from racism will be from racist Democrats who OTHERWISE would have voted the Democrat ticket.

It’s pretty obvious, don’t ya think? But then, logic has never been a lefty’s strong suit.

I’m afraid you’re not quite getting the Left’s reasoning here. It goes something like this:

1) Not voting for Obama is a sign that you’re a racist.
2) Virtually all Republicans won’t vote for Obama.
3) Therefore, virtually all Republicans are racists.

This is just the latest and most blatant mutation of a meme the Left has propagated ever since the 1960s: that being a conservative is synonymous with being a white supremacist.

Oct 18, 2008 - 8:08 pm 48. The Truth:

Obama’s race has nothing to do with this election. This is an election about the future vs. the past (in specific the last 8 years.) The choice is obvious. It’s time to have a real thinker in the White House. Vote Obama on November 4th. We can’t afford 4 more years of the same.

Oct 18, 2008 - 8:11 pm 49. SmartGirl:

We won’t have 4 years of the same with McCain or with Obama, don’t be silly #48. Every administration is different from the previous. McCain differs from this administration on enery, environmental issues, health care and a whole host of other issues. The real issue is – do we want to have a President with a Socialist agenda in power? My answer is NO – we have no intention of paying even more taxes than we already do – or re-distributing the wealth. If Obama is elected, we are moving all our money into every tax haven available as we have no intention of helping to fund any of his unrealistic plans.

Oct 18, 2008 - 9:40 pm 50. 888:

Ferraro is absolutely right. The only reason Obama is at the top of the Democratic ticket IS because he’s black. If Obama was white, he wouldn’t even have made it to the primaries.

I just hired a black male for a top position within my organization over white and Asian male and female applicants. I hired this man because he was the most experienced and knowledgeable of the applicants and I worked with him before and knew of his integrity, honesty, responsibility, professionalism and work ethic. There is no way I would have hired Barack Obama or someone like him, not only given his thin resume, but also because he appears to be lacking in character, judgment and integrity. When one is not forthcoming when asked about one’s past when applying for a critical, classified position, whether in an interview setting or in an application, that’s a problem for me and most managers and leaders needing to instill ethics and good character, but especially those working for the Government as civil servants, in appointments or as Government contractors. Notwithstanding this, is the fact that Obama’s past (admitted more than occasional drug use, meetings at terrorists’ homes and convicted slum lord, going to Pakistan when Americans were forbidden to at the time he went, received donations from Hamas, etc., etc.) would automatically disqualify him for a security clearance, even at the level of Secret (you can forget Top Secret and beyond).

Obama’s being black is his one Affirmative Action (AA) ace up his sleeve. AA helped him to get into Columbia and Harvard (we still haven’t seen his transcripts and grades from either school so his AA-based enrollment may have kicked out a scholarly white person’s chances to enroll there) and now AA will get him the most important, most coveted position in the world. What a tragedy.

Oct 18, 2008 - 9:50 pm 53. JMS2008:

Evil Pundit,
I read the article you cited. Amazing. This is my favorite part (at the end):

“In 1968, Richard Nixon did the exact reverse of what the Democrats are now doing. Instead of announcing bombastically that he and the Republicans had complete domination of the media and the electorate, his key campaign slogan was “The Silent Majority.” Nixon knew full well that the atmosphere of the times made the Republican prospects looks pretty bleak. Youth culture and the social revolution of the 1960s were at a peak; left-wing ideology was soaring in popularity, a huge demographic of young post-war Baby-Boomers had just reached voting age and were thought to loathe the old-fashioned Republicanism; and the media had long had a serious vendetta against Nixon. Everything seemed aligned to ensure a handy victory for Humphrey and the Democrats. But Nixon sensed that behind the media frenzy about hippies and riots and drugs and revolution, there was, literally, a “silent majority” of staid conservative voters whose voices and viewpoints were being ignored. And all he needed to do was to reassure those voters that they existed across the country, even if the media and popular culture ignored them. And, to everyone’s astonishment, Richard Nixon, who was considered by many to be a laughingstock, the last holdout of a pathetic dying breed of old fogeys, managed to pull out a razor-thin victory in what seemed like the most hostile possible social environment.

In 2008 there is no silent majority: there is the silenced majority. The unpolled majority. The media is so pro-Obama that the views and the concerns of McCain supporters are for the most part ignored or, at best, mocked. The goal is to foster disillusionment among them, a sense of isolation. To trick the Republicans into all staying home on election day because “there’s no hope of winning.” Maybe the Democrats can’t avoid a showdown on November 4, but if they can convince enough McCain supporters to individually “fold” and not vote at all, then Obama can carry the day.”

Please, no one give up. We cannot forfeit. On game day, we all play. McCain/Palin 08.

If BHO becomes President, it will largely be due to the fact so many people are motivated by guilt manipulation to vote for a Black man simply because he is Black. If McCain is elected, it will be because people regained their senses in the last moments of the campaign.

The most recent Siena colloge poll in New York State showed African-Amewricans voting as follows; Obama-97%; McCain 0%; undecided 3%. The poll could not find one black person in New York State who preferred John McCain!

Ecidence please! For a countervailing argument I give you McGovern or Mondale. Both were almost as far left as Obama and both were slaughtered in the election. Both are White.
As my second argument I give you that other half black men HAVE been elected President.

http://www.geocities.com/cureworks1/5blkpres.htm

{snipped}
“Joel A. Rogers and Dr. Auset Bakhufu have both written books documenting that at least five former presidents of the United States had Black people among their ancestors. If one considers the fact that European men far outnumbered European women during the founding of this country, and that the rape and impregnation of an African female slave was not considered a crime, it is even more surprising that these two authors could not document Black ancestors among an ever larger number of former presidents. ”

“The best case for Black ancestry is against Warren G. Harding, our 29th president from 1921 until 1923. Harding himself never denied his ancestry. When Republican leaders called on Harding to deny the “Negro” history, he said, “How should I know whether or not one of my ancestors might have jumped the fence.” William Chancellor, a White professor of economics and politics at Wooster College in Ohio, wrote a book on the Harding family genealogy and identified Black ancestors among both parents of President Harding.”

So Obama is mostly about BS. Just like the change thingie. If Obama was honest about it, he wouldn’t use the word ‘change’, he would use ‘improvement’. Only if he said improvement, people would want to know what sort of improvement. Obama knows all this, the man ain’t stooooopid, so he uses the word ‘change’ and lets the suckers fill in the details in their mind. This is an old sales technique, use by ever con man and hustler since Noah.

Menwhile, Obama cannot be President. He isn’t qualified. YOu have to be a natural born citizen and Obama isn’t. His grandmother and sister-in-law will testify that he was born in Kenya. Obama refuses to allow his vault birth certificate to be accessed. Which means either he doesn’t have one or is hiding something. The fact that he put forth a fake birth certificate makes one think he is hiding something.
So ANY legislation he signs will not be valid.
All this is winding it’s way thru the courts. When it finally gets to the Supreme Court, there will be hell to pay. Obama will be out and Joe Biden in.
Will you still leave?
I think you should. You would be much happier in some other country. America would be much happier with you in some other country.

Yes! I agree. However, I’m going to argue this: if one party controlling the three branches of government was as huge as you assert, wouldn’t Bush, at some point, have been able to radically change the direction of the country? He pandered to Christians like me saying he was going to do things like overturn Roe v. Wade, but he did nothing of the sort.

Even if liberals control the legislative and executive branches, I don’t think they’re going to be able to do anything major. There are just too many checks and balances. Not to mention inter-party disagreement. Sure, they look unified now, but after election day, everybody in Washington is still self-interested and not much more.

We might want the country to go in different directions, but I don’t think things will change that much. However, I’m interested in hearing how the liberals are going to do all these things that have you scared. (that’s a sincere question)

Jeez Brenda how about this for a deal if Sarah is VP and you want to come to Canada.I’ll trade you my citizenship for yours straight across.Remember this though there are 5 million Canadians without access to a family doctor and you will be one of them.I hope you enjoy the lineup at the local clinic and this also – no family doctor makes it next to impossible to get a referral to a specialist.Have fun when you get here.

On National Review Online, Aaron Klein who is a great reporter cites Qaddafi from Libya who says Obama is a Kenyan Muslim who is receiving a lot of money from overseas.

Obama is a socialist. He is a big government proponent. He wants to surrender in Iraq. He is supported by trial lawyers. He is against free trade. His associates are crooks, anti-American doctrinaires and terrorist bombers. He has no experience, no accomplishments, no record of bi-partisanship of any kind. He favors the death tax and wants to raise the capital gains tax. His views on terrorism are naive. He wants to meet our enemies without pre-conditions.

What’s race got to do with it?

Help! Help! Am I halucinating? Anyone around able to make understand this:

“68. Obamigan: The reason that we anarchists and Obamigans support Barack Obama for president is that we want to deconstruct the US. To us, the US has been a big mistake from the day that Christopher Columbus signed the Declaration of Independence. It has just gone downhill from there.
From the Charge of the Light Brigade to Wounded Knee, the history of the US brims with excessive zeal and chauvintry. Any society that would consider George Orwell and Jane Eyre as its best writers and theorists simply hasn’t thought things through clearly enough.
There is a time for clear thought and strong action, and we Obamigans mean to do both, just as soon as this hangover eases up a bit. But we will, and you can be sure you will be sorry for your stupid conservitancy and all it stands for.”

Anyone around?….

If one doesn’t pledge personal loyalty and fealty to his Highness, lord Barack, they are a racist hater. The man MUST be worshipped, adored, and proclaimed as God and the great Messiah, savior of mankind. Indeed, the great , unbiased, most holy, leader Louis Farrakan has proclaimed Obama the worlds Messiah. Racists, racists, and racists alone will fail to worship Obama and accept Him as their personal Savior and God Almighty. The only reason to not worship the savior is, as Cafferty says, RACE.

2% of those voting Mccain will be voting agst Obama due to race while 40% AT LEAST of obama’s cult supporters will vote FOR him due to his father’s skin color. Really, enough said?

Driving around small towns, you can see McCain signs at a 100 to 1 ratio vs Obama. I’m not worries. The left refuses to realize their candidate is unqualified and too radical for a center-right nation, thankfully

Jake Cafferty is a MORON, by the way. That CNN employs him is telling

well worth ten minutes of your time.

obama is going to loose the electorial college
he gains Iowa and Maybe New Mexico but looses Pennsylvania

why?

simple – people don’t trust him and in the voting booth won’t pull the lever

sure there are 40% who are polarized (Bush hater) and the youth vote that is largely underinformed

Obama, with his massive ego, denied Hillary the election and a running mate, 20-30% of those disgruntled dems will vote republican

the fly by states don’t trust Barack

the media is vastly exagerating the polls, and is completely in the tank for Obama, most people see through this

JOe the plumber was Barak’s “Dukakis riding the tank” moment. Hard working middle class people would rather side with opportunity than hand out

no way does an inexperienced senator with socialistic intentions get the nomination

If BHO is defeated I believe it will be because the majority of Americans, along with Hillary PUMA’s, will conclude 1) he is a socialist with radical connnections, and 2) he is thoroughly unqualified. It has nothing to do with the color of his skin. However, if this story gets out, his defeat may have everything to do with his collaborations with a long list of America haters, including Muslim terrorists. Dare we say it?

Is this really the best line of attack? Keep trying to get people to believe Obama is foreign and a Muslim? And what if he is? There’s nothing that says the president must be a Christian. As a Christian myself, I like to see a president that is like me – but I think that as long as the president reflects my basic set of beliefs and supports my right to practice my religion, I don’t think his or her religion will get in the way.

Please try to understand that the major of Muslims are no terrorists.

I am neither a Republican nor a Democrat but a true Independent who believes in facts and really believes in learning the lessons of our history.

So here is a simple fact for America -
1) During Ronald Reagan’s Presidency of 2 terms, between 1981-1989, we were at our economic best in a quarter of a century. We made the right choice in these 8 years as a country.
2) During George H. W. Bush Sr.’s Presidency of 1 term, between 1989-1993, we were at our economic worst in a quarter of a century. We made a huge mistake as a country but corrected it by keeping him in office for only 1 term.
3) During Bill Clinton’s Presidency of 2 terms, between 1993-2001, we were again at our economic best in a quarter of a century, even better than Reagan’s era. We made the right choice again in these 8 years as a country, despite his personal scandals.
4) Now, during George W. Bush Jr.’s Presidency of 2 terms, between 2001-this coming January 20, 2009; we have been at our economic worst in a quarter of a century, even worst than Bush Sr.’s era. We really made a huge mistake as a country on this one by not realizing that the apple really doesn’t fall very far from the tree. Yet we chose this apple again the second time around.

Now, really let this simple fact sink in America and take your time to think carefully this time around about how you want the direction of this country to go.

We made history with Reagan. We then made a mistake with Bush Sr. but corrected history by allowing him to only serve 1 term. We then made history again with Clinton, despite his personal scandals. Now, we have made 2 mistakes with Bush Jr. by allowing him to serve not once, but twice. So my last question to America is, guess which candidate shares the interests of both, Bush Sr. and Bush Jr.? I will let America answer this one. We are much, much smarter as a country to want to make history rather than make mistakes and to suffer yet again from our own mistakes by not using objectivity as our first and foremost agenda.

Oct 21, 2008 - 9:44 am 84. Jeff:

What people don’t understand is why some of us are so against the current Republican ticket, but we have an obligation to fight against history of ever being repeated again. Many of us out here are not fighting for the Democratic campaign but are fighting against an ideology.

1) An ideology that completely mirrors the ideology of this past 8 years.
2) An ideology that recognizes the few while completely disregarding the masses.
3) An ideology that believes in taking military action against Iraq, an incident that is completely unrelated to 9/11, without solidifying our claims beforehand. In the present, we have found no evidence of weapons of mass destructions or a tie to Osama Bin Laden. The devastation of this war has cost us over 4,000 of our brave troops and counting, over 1/2 trillion dollars of taxpayer’s money and counting, and over 1 million Iraqi lives unrelated to the terrorists or insurgency.

Cost of the Iraq War — http://www.nationalpriorities.org/costofwar_home

4) An ideology that still believes that the Iraq War is the right war on terrorism when the Afghanistan War should had been the right war on terrorism, where Osama Bin Laden actually was until he slipped into the mountains and into Pakistan’s territory now. The Iraq War also diverted our attention away from the Afghanistan War. We now have extended our resources in two separate places and have heightened our risk to our troops, our expenses, and creating another dilemma that will take quite some time to finalize. The Iraq War will not go away overnight and it is now our obligation to see it all the way through for God knows how many more years. This has also been the most unpopular war in the eyes of the world’s communities.
5) An ideology that believes that we are at our safest state since 9/11, when a recent terrorist plot was still trying to enter Great Britain’s airports with liquid explosives heading directly to us, but thankfully the plot was foiled. While in Afghanistan, the terrorists are regrouping and strengthening and we have recently suffered another high casualty to our troops yet again within this past month. We currently have the least amount of alliances in the world’s communities due to this unpopular Iraq War. True national securities are the ties that bind us to our world’s communities and the ties that bind them to us.
6) An ideology that vetted one of the most inexperience VP ticket in history, from foreign policies to national defense. If God forbids that anything happens to this President if elected and is stricken with illness, this VP will be running the country. For a more compelling look at Sarah Palin’s VP readiness, please look at these links below —

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=loUHRv3ipLE

http://www.salon.com/opinion/walsh/election_2008/2008/09/30/palin_gaffes/

7) An ideology that believes in “the fundamentals of our economy are strong” while we are facing the highest mortgage foreclosure crisis, high unemployment rate, and the largest collapse of our financial infrastructures since The Great Depression of 1929.

This is an ideology that many of us in America are against. Whether this ideology is in the Republican or Democratic ticket is not the main issue but the fact is that America does not want to fall into another 4 more years of devastation. We cannot afford this anymore.

Oct 21, 2008 - 9:47 am 85. Diane:

I wish the media or academe would define “racist” once and for all, so we know what we’re being accused of. It seems to be a catch-all for any politically incorrect thought, speech or action. I have been called “racist” for wondering aloud if a college student dressed in hijab, wearing Ipod headphones over her veil, was listening to religious music. Where is the racism in this crack? It was a religious/cultural stereotype, I’ll admit. It was politically incorrect, yes. But where does race come into it?

If I made a fat joke, would that be racist too? It seems to depend on who the, er, butt of the joke is. If a white person, no. If any other race, obviously yes.

Let me get one more pet peeve off my chest regarding the demonization of Sarah Palin. This is a rank piece of hypocrisy by the Left.

We’re told she isn’t smart enough. Doesn’t have the right college degree. Imagine for a moment if Sarah Palin was a Native American. Everything else about her is the same — hunting, snowmobiling, self-made governor. Would we be hearing the liberal establishment deriding her non-Ivy education, her funny accent, her folksy word-choices? Her family’s size or values? No, we wouldn’t. Because as a Native American, she would be the product of oppression. Her having risen above it would be a tale of triumph. Her hunting and religious views (let’s say she was an animist who prayed to ancient spirits in a sweat lodge) would be accorded the dignity of a great cultural heritage.

Cast her in any other race — Hispanic, black –– and the same test yields the same results. We don’t scoff at Thurgood Marshall attending Howard University law school. It was a miracle, we are told, given the advanced state of white oppression, that he attended law school at all. Look at Bolivian president Evo Morales, the high-school drop out, former bricklayer, baker and llama sherpherd whose peculiar Catholic faith included making alcohol and coca offerings to the earth goddess, Pachamam. But because he is a full-blooded indigenous president, none of this disqualifies him in any way from holding political office.

This amounts to a form of cultural affirmative action. Whites who aren’t elites are the subject of vicious stereotyping and crude slurs. Non-whites in the same situation get a pass, indeed a pat on the back for not cow-towing to “the man.”

Oct 21, 2008 - 10:46 pm 86. Anonymous:

Diane – You forgot to mention if she were pro-abortion, she would also get a pass. She’d be seen as a trojan horse.

Btw, it’s Kowtow, no hyphen, from the Chinese.

While I’m picking nits, everyone: “cannot” is one word, not two, with the emphasis on the second syllable; “meantime” and “nevertheless” are also single words. Just sayin’.
