1. Eric G.:I’m guessing that Ron Paul’s curious appeal in this poll has less to do with his “paranoid theories” and more to do with his being the only candidate who voters trust to significantly reduce the size and power of government.
Mar 30, 2007 - 12:08 pm 2. Louise Falk:I’m guessing that Ron Paul’s popularity in this poll has everything to do with his acolytes voting en masse. Otherwise he would be generating higher percentages on other polls, which he isn’t.

This whole idea of polling if actually asked if they would support ron paul by whatever poll. They might actually get a response. Saying they would but as you can see most major polls dont even ask. They just stick with the big 3 in each party.

As for your point about not knowing one person who is not voting for Ron Paul, perhaps it’s before your time but did you know the famous quote by Pauline Kael after Nixon was elected? “I don’t know person who voted for him,” she said in amazement, or something like that. Our peer groups are self-selecting – but I’m sure you know that.

Also make note that the gallop poll asks a mere 1,000 people, which is completely random. How could Ron Paul possibly get recognition nationally without the media’s help? The media chooses which candidates they want to be elected, and then the people have to choose from them. That’s whats so interesting about Ron Paul climbing in the polls regardless.
