McCain’s very first test of presidential leadership will be his selection for the VP slot. The ONLY logical choice for McCain would be Mitt Romney. Romney is a business savy executive to off-set McCain’s self professed lack of experience and knowledge with the economy. (Read “Turnaround” by Mitt Romney…well worth it!) Besides, his years with Bain Capital and Bain were exceptional examples of how several private sector companies were on the brink of disaster, Romney came in and turned them around as profitable. Secondly, he is the only viable candidate who has been seriously vetted by the drive-by main stream media, and who can raise the necessary $$ that will be required since Obama has “flip flopped” on his now unacceptance of federal matching funds.

Finally, whether you like the following folks or not, i.e., the Rush Limbaughs, Sean Hanity’s, Lars Larsens, Laura Ingrahams’, Ann Coulter’s, Mark Levins’ of the talk show world of true conservatives, — these fine folks have over 10 MILLION listners every day! Wanna bring these conservative cheer leaders back to the McCain fold?? Romney’s the “ticket” for that to happen. (Pardon the pun)

WHY WOULD MCCAIN GO FOR ROMNEY (net neutral or negative for the election) WHEN HE CAN TAP PALIN!!! (Her positives are off the chart, with no negatives.)

I really like Richardson! As an independent I am a born fence-sitter, but he would tip me Democarttic. Especially if McCain picks Romney.

Hillary for McCains will all be thrilled if Gov. Palin will be part of the ticket.

In our own assessment, the 40% of Clintonistas voting for McCain will reach as high as 80% if Palin will be in McCain’s ticket.

That for sure means if Hillary not VP of Nobama.

barbara boxer(the junior senator from california) is back. she took a well deserved vacation from her vacation and set washington dc on fire today at a news conference nailing cheeney. she’s obviously pushing hard for vp. perfect blend of experience – junior senator and judgment( the most important factor for any candidate in this election cycle). she can see around corners just like obama.

I have strong libertarian principles but I always considered myself a conservative. Pure libertarians are I thought distinguished by against victimless crimes ie: drug laws. All drugs should be legal and people can go to hell in any way they want. I think that would be bad socially and leads to destruction because conceding to our narcissist nature. Also the libertarians of the Ron Paul type do not think that we should have been involved in any foreign war. That I also disagree with. So based on that I am a conservative. But really I am an individualist.

Romney has strong libertarian leanings, He is also smart emough to know when brainless ideology whored out in service for lobbyists pay, to dereg an industry, has badly screwed the general public.

Airline dereg disaster.
Enron and the cabal of Wall Street corruption.
Savings and loan fiasco, mortagage remarket industry meltdown.
Health care costing 50% more than any other adanced nation, American life expectancy near the bottom of advanced nations, 50 million working poor uninsured, another 25 million with almost worthless “bargain” private insurance policies, 1.2 million medical bankruptcies.

Like Palin, Romney can be a mix of conservative and liberarian, especially on values. Palin loves the good Alaskan environmental regulation measures it’s people strongly back even as it “punishes” a CEO fatcat.

One does not have to be an Ayn Rand follower, a supply side cult member, or a laissez faire whore to the Corporatists to be either libertarian or conservative.

“Purists” will just have to accept that Republicans outside the Bible Belt and the campus geek&libertarian Club just have to govern and serve a different electorate than they.

I just got through reading the inspiring story posted above of the Indian immigrant running on an anti-Sharia platform for Congress from Tennessee. Several commenters wished he were going to be on the ticket. Since McCain sponsored immigration reform to compensate for the fact that lazy Americans won’t pick lettuce, and this guy immigrated to fill our needs for more insurance salesmen, I doubt he will make it. However Bombay Bobby Jindal might. Best thing to come out of Looneyana since Huey Long and Jim Carville.

Romney? Libertarian leaning? Bwah ha ha! Someone has him confused with, say, Bill Weld. Romney can’t begin to aspire to come close to Weld.

Libertarian? One word:
RomneyCare.
