Responding to Mr. Nossik, I'd like to point out two things.

First, I expressed no opinion as to what was actually happening behind the scenes at Live Journal. I only reported that concerns had been expressed.

Second, I should note that the link to my source material concerning the reports about the Live Journal takeover was inadvertently omitted from the text. It is here:

http://www.theotherrussia.org/2007/12/13/the-last-island-of-freedom/

Another report can be found here:

http://www.iht.com/articles/2006/10/25/opinion/edmorozov.php

and there are many such examples easily discovered with a Google search.

I appreciate Mr. Nossik's opinion that there is nothing to worry about, but that's all he's expressing -- and the fact that he cites Live Journal itself, rather than some more impartial source, I find questionable.

Anton Nossik wrote: "Here's what actually happened..."

Thanks for that clarification Anton and thanks for the link to Live Journal News. I see that once again Kim not only got her basic facts wrong but she completely inverted them. Now she's "researching" a book about Russia? Yikes I can hardly wait.

I am the Anton Nossik, quoted above from Kommersant daily, and I happen to work for the Moscow-based Sup company that owns LiveJournal Inc. since December 3rd, 2007.

There had been no attack whatsoever, and no hostile takeover. Here's what actually happened:
