Estonians, along with Latvians and Lithuanians, fought in the forests as an underground for years - well into the 1950's. But the communists would not print/publish any of those events. A few underground newspapers were published and only a few would know of the events - like my parents - who were there. Lastly, any Estonian, or other Balt, who even thought of organizing some sort of resistance, be it political or violent, was simply disappeared, sent to Siberia, sent to a psych ward, or shot. The communists had lists of "unsympathetic" persons who were spied on/interregated constantly. Any damning info equated to a punative sentence. My parents tell stories of how children were "interragated" in schools by teachers to see if their parents read the bible or met in secret with other persons - any yes answers and Dad "lost" his job or worse.
