There’s Nothing Funny About Obama’s Election

Without Bush or Palin to kick around, who will comedians make fun of?

Barack Hussein Obama is the president-elect of the United States of America. The press, Hollywood, and the rest of the world will be in their element celebrating this “historic” outcome and looking forward to change, however that might manifest itself.

However, it is not all champagne and kisses for everyone. And no, I am not talking about Republicans, capitalists, or Israel. I can think of one group, possibly even worldwide, who will have mixed emotions no matter who they wished to win.

Of whom do I speak?

The comics of the world are of whom I speak. Based on past performance none of them has the stomach, the courage, or the inclination to make even one major gag at the expense of Obama. They have had their way with Bush, Cheney, McCain, Palin (in extremis), and, of course, Hillary Clinton. Saturday Night Live and comedy clubs across the land have been filled with comedians doing their best to mock all politicians — all but Obama.

So what are these poor comics going to do now? Are they going to stop doing political comedy altogether? If the Democrats control Congress and Obama is president will they no longer have anyone to mock? How will they cope post-inauguration? They might get away with a few more months of Bush-bashing but, after that, what new material can they use?

Keen observers of the comedy world will have watched the ever-present “Bush is a moron” rescue joke that has saved all but the worst comic when bombing. It always gets a laugh and seems to recover their momentum.

They’ll still kick Palin around just to make sure she’s even more damaged come 2012 and since she’s one of the supposed front runners for the nomination. Plus, she’s sort of the face for the Republican Party at the moment. More than likely you’ll see at least a 2 to 4 year layoff of the political jokes like we’ve seen the past 8 to 10 years.

Nov 6, 2008 - 12:19 am 2. Craig A.Zimmerman:

Commedians probably like to eat well. So Biden will likely inherit the mantle of “First Target”. But consider that the “Larry Craig” jokes are continuing on Leno. Bush may have to live long after his Presidency in the hearts and minds of comedians. For me as well. I’m thinking of blaming all of Obama’s setbacks (real and imagined, those which are his fault and those which are Acts of God) on Bush. So come the great Hurricane of 2010, I can say “It must be Bush’s fault!” A couple years of that should enough to allow some perspective to come to the man’s legacy.

Before the election battle began, John McCain and Barack Obama were sitting side by side at a budget meeting. Trying to show some empathy for McCain, Barack asked John what it was like spending all those years in tortured captivity. McCain replied, “A lot of times, I’d gone to sleep not knowing if I was going to wake up the next morning. It was hell.”

Barack dropped his head a little, stared at his yellow pad, and said, “That’s nothing, John. How’d you like to wake up to Michelle’s sourpuss of a face every morning?”

Maybe America can adopt Jonathon Ross and Russell Brand, seeing as the po-faced, ‘right on’, ‘PC Aware’ Brits have deemed them both devils. They’ve both been mocking Obama for months, but it wasn’t until one of them said something naughty about who they’ve been being naughty with that those ‘well-meaning’ (?) Brits went into meltdown. Also, Ross publicly supported McCain right from the start of the election coverage. I’m surprised the Brits didn’t shoot him down for that alone.

Look for many re-hashes and tributes, “Best of Saturday Night Live’s” or “how we laughed on our way to the revolution.”

Hopefully we’ll work our way through the minefield that has been laid with regard to screaming racism at any effort to mock Obama. As it’s been fair to skewer white rural southerners and their culture for decades, I’ll look forward to the day when everyone is fair game for the same kind of contrast of cultures. The great thing is that white rural southerners take it so well and allow everyone to have a shot at it – heck, they do it themselves (eg. Bluecollar Comedy Tour). Unlike the genre of comedy about black culture, where Chris Rock and his cohorts can use what amounts to a language and view that is completely off limits to whites.

Back in 1992, just after Bill Clinton won the election, I saw a round table discussion on either C-span or CNN where comedians discussed how Clinton’s election was the death knell of political comedy. I wish I had had the foresight to tape that.

Obama is going to be able to hide behind his skin color for a while, but don’t expect him to be immune to being mocked. John Stewart, though about as big a Liberal as you get on TV, has nailed him a few times already.

But you can be sure that Republicans will continue being the butts of jokes for a while.

What constitutes humor these days is sad. Crass has replaced class. But it accurately represents our societal and cultural decay.

Nov 6, 2008 - 3:03 am 8. Helen:

I don’t know where Laura is getting her information from but as a card-carrying London-dwelling Brit, I’m not sure you want Jonathan Ross and Russell Brand. The reason we went into meltdown about them is that they left a series of increasingly abusive and bullying messages on a 78 year old actor’s answerphone boasting in graphic detail about how Brand had slept with the actor’s granddaughter and then broadcast them on BBC Radio 2. The BBC’s failure to respond promptly to people pointing out that this wasn’t acceptable was the main reason this became a huge story. As for their political comedy, I can’t recall Ross every saying anything remotely political and Brand as far I am aware (I’m not a fan of either of them) is a standard issue Bush-basher when he’s not boasting about his sex life. I can absolutely assure you though that their politics has absolutely nothing to do with the recent hoo-ha and everything to do with their abusive bullying.

I was going to send my friends an email about this & you beat me to the punch! My lament was that with a new Obama presidency. slews of Hollywood gag-writers would be thrown out of work. Oh well, there is an upaide…
Now that there’s a Dem in the White House, maybe Hollywood will start making movies about heroic American soldiers when Pres. Obama takes us into the mountains of Wazirastan, as promised.

Nov 6, 2008 - 4:46 am 12. misanthropicus:

Andrew, I take strong exception – what about the “Let’s laugh with Joe Biden?” Man, that guy can be so funny! He’s got verve, he’s got a talent to nail things down: “I mean, you got the first mainstream African-American who is articulate and bright and clean and a nice-looking guy. I mean, that’s a storybook, man.” (Biden’s view will sound even better in the day when Holograma’s crack thing will come up).

Then, remember – hubris is a great comedy writer, so expect many funny moments during Hussein Soetero’s reign.

John McCain was just trying to get a part time job to suplement his social security, and then along comes Barak Obama putting a stop to McCain’s plan. Just another example of the black man trying to keep the white man down. ………. It’s easy to write jokes about Obama, just keep them intelligent, and have some ironic sarcasm that society can relate to. I just wrote that and the sun isn’t even up yet.

Nov 6, 2008 - 5:57 am 15. MichelleObi:

As an African-American, I can be certain that black comedians will take the lead, people like David Allen Grier. White comedians, in all their liberal guiltations will balk and throw out a mild jab – “And how about that height?” Oh yeah that’s funny. SNL doesn’t even have black actors to play him. Obama is the funniest politician out there. Dumbo Ears, blue lips, messiah syndrome, no experience, a pretend impoverished background. Liberals still think he was dirt poor and not a member of the middle class. Well aren’t all blacks? So, if nothing else, this could be a great moment for black comics.

*Is there really nothing at all funny about Obama?*

Not about an Obama presidency. I doubt laughter will be the result of 4 years of attempted socialism.

I’m sure David Chapelle will have no problem
imagine a pimping out the whitehouse skit

SNL did a skit during the Hillary primary where Obama was worshipped by the media (they were in the Hillary camp)

Obama isn’t funny – that banquest setting clearly showed that.

the media will wait till he really screws up and be ready with skewers..till then it will be fairly quiet

An old-time communist once said that the best non-violent weapon that can be used against established governments is ridicule. I can’t see comics going after Obama with the same acid wit they use against Republicans. They are on the same team. If they do go after him, it’ll be the cute type of humor they used with Clinton. The “he’s a scamp but he’s our scamp” type of stuff.

Chevy Chase said recently that his parodies of Ford in the early SNL skits were designed explicitly to help Carter win the Oval Office. That’s just the way it is folks. The left marches on.

Nov 6, 2008 - 7:57 am 22. AnninCA:

Comics will have a tough time of it. People have so little humor about Obama.

How about Pelosi next? She fits the bill. She’s female.

Nov 6, 2008 - 8:06 am 23. Gary Anderson:

Well, Palin is not going away. She is the neocon hope for endless war and radical right wing politics. For the next 4 years no anti Palin person should rest for a second. If Rove and Krystol want her to be the neocon flagbearer the bimbo needs to be taken seriously. She is truly a dangerous person.

Nov 6, 2008 - 8:11 am 24. Kimberley:

None of the very hip and irreverent “comics” would dare make fun of Obama or his divine ego upon pain of being called a racist an un-friended on My Space. But there will be fun anyway. When you rely on failed comedians to choose a President, you end up with a bad joke in the Whiter House

Nov 6, 2008 - 8:12 am 25. Chris:

I think the reasons are less nefarious than you imply. Obama is boring. Messianism is boring. Take a look at people who make fun of Jesus–the only thing I can think of off the top of my head is the Life of Brian, which is funny only when not making fun of Jesus. Everyone laughs at the crucified singing “always look on the bright side of life,” but it’s really not very funny, is it? I’ve never gotten the joke, and not for religious reasons.

The fact that Obama is boring is also going to be his undoing. When he gets into office and has to start talking fo realz, everyone is going to fall asleep, and then the media will resent him, both for being forced to cover him and for having to rely on him for ratings.

Nov 6, 2008 - 8:23 am 26. Kurt:

Well, maybe that’s one of the unintended benefits of an Obama administration. Perhaps some of these comics will find less work, and in their place will rise a new group of comics who are willing to take on The One’s enormous ego, his stunning sense of entitlement, his lawyerly language of platitudes and evasions, and the willingness of his supporters to cry “Racist!” at everyone who dares to critique him.

Nov 6, 2008 - 8:24 am 27. Jim Baker:

Don’t worry about the comedians. There is always fodder for them. Unfortunately, too many of them take themselves seriously.

Nov 6, 2008 - 9:12 am 28. newton:

The fact that Obama has zero sense of humor and takes himself waaaay too seriously doesn’t help matters one bit.

Nov 6, 2008 - 9:21 am 29. logdon:

Here’s one. Both prescient and funny also.

Obama’s leaky plumbing

Barack Obama discovers a leak under his sink, so he calls Joe the Plumber to come and fix it.

Joe drives to Obama’s house, which is located in a very nice neighborhood and where it’s clear that all the residents make more than $250,000 per year.

Joe arrives and takes his tools into the house. Joe is led to the room that contains the leaky pipe under a sink. Joe assesses the problem and tells Obama, who is standing near the door, that it’s an easy repair that will take less than 10 minutes.

Obama asks Joe how much it will cost.

Joe immediately says, “$9,500.”

$9,500?” Obama asks, stunned. “But you said it’s an easy repair!”

“Yes, but what I do is charge a lot more to my clients who make more than $250,000 per year so I can fix the plumbing of everybody who makes less than that for free,” explains Joe. “It’s always been my philosophy. As a matter of fact, I lobbied government to pass this philosophy as law, and it did pass earlier this year, so now all plumbers have to do business this way. It’s known as ‘Joe’s Fair Plumbing Act of 2008.’ Surprised you haven’t heard of it, senator.”

In spite of that, Obama tells Joe there’s no way he’s paying that much for a small plumbing repair, so Joe leaves.

Obama spends the next hour flipping through the phone book looking for another plumber, but he finds that all other plumbing businesses listed have gone out of business. Not wanting to pay Joe’s price, Obama does nothing.

The leak under Obama’s sink goes unrepaired for the next several days.

A week later the leak is so bad that Obama has had to put a bucket under the sink. The bucket fills up quickly and has to be emptied every hour, and there’s a risk that the room will flood, so Obama calls Joe and pleads with him to return.

Joe goes back to Obama’s house, looks at the leaky pipe, and says “Let’s see – this will cost you about $21,000.”

“A few days ago you told me it would cost $9,500!” Obama quickly fires back.

Joe explains the reason for the dramatic increase. “Well, because of the ‘Joe’s Fair Plumbing Act,’ a lot of rich people are learning how to fix their own plumbing, so there are fewer of you paying for all the free plumbing I’m doing for the people who make less than $250,000. As a result, the rate I have to charge my wealthy paying customers rises every day.

“Not only that, but for some reason the demand for plumbing work from the group of people who get it for free has skyrocketed, and there’s a long waiting list of those who need repairs. This has put a lot of my fellow plumbers out of business, and they’re not being replaced – nobody is going into the plumbing business because they know they won’t make any money. I’m hurting now too – all thanks to greedy rich people like you who won’t pay their fair share.”

Obama tries to straighten out the plumber: “Of course you’re hurting, Joe! Don’t you get it? If all the rich people learn how to fix their own plumbing and you refuse to charge the poorer people for your services, you’ll be broke, and then what will you do?”

Joe immediately replies, “Run for president, apparently.”

Last laugh for the plumber? Ha, bloody ha!

The Barack Obama presidency is a joke!

Without the race angle pushed by himself and the accommodating media Obama is a distant memory of a narcissist who thought he could.

His Marxist /socialism beliefs are no joke however.

Here is a funny joke though, The socialist mud slingers now call for unity after indulging themselves for eight years of obscene, insane, and deranged behavior towards all things conservative.

They made this bed, now they can lay in it.

I am among the 56 million who think they are not funny than, or now, but are the joke of the world now!

Nov 6, 2008 - 11:56 am 39. Eric:

Most comedians are Liberals and Liberals are by their very nature cowards. There will ber very few jokes if any about the Obamas. Thus is the power of fear. Want to see where we’re headed? Look at the fear the Brits, and other Europeans, live with day in and day out regarding what they can and cannot say about the non_british among them. The PC police inside politics, academia, and media act like a secret police force enforcing a harsh punishment on any white person who dares to open their mouth about minorities, out of control immigration, welfare benefits for newly arrived immigrants, etc. Cultural Marxism is socialism’s ultimate triumph because people are afraid of being caleld “racist”. That simple word keeps good people from expressing their opinions. Cultural Marxism is killing Western culture. Europe will be transformed into part of the global caliphate or war will break out in Europe in the next 10-20 years as whites continue to be pushed aside in their own countries. Europe is our canary in the coal mine.

Just try to stop an amnesty in the next 1-2 years. Racist.

A friend of mine noted years ago that Johnny Carson was a liberal. He made jokes about both sides, and I saw an interview with one of his colleagues or friends upon his passing which claimed that you couldn’t tell this from his dialog, because he was balanced, he made jokes about both sides. The trick here is that Carson always made jokes about Reagan giving tax cuts to rich people. The balance was a joke about the size of Tip O’Neill’s nose. Point is this: one joke just makes fun of someone, and the other has an agenda (Those rich greedy Republicans want to steal your money and give it to someone who already has way too much). Look for the comedians to be squeamish about Obama for a few months, until the black guys (Grier, Dave Chapelle, Chris Rock, et al) get going on him. Look for them to never venture anywhere near any policy stuff, and make jokes about the pauses in his speech, the way he intones his intentions, etc. Mostly, look for everyone to ridicule Biden about whatever silly story he makes up, FDR on TV, whatever. That won’t hurt the current piece of legislation in front of Congress, and it’ll put bread on the table. All the late night comedians (I didn’t see Letterman, but I did see Leno, and parts of Conan and Craig Ferguson) last night made the same point this article makes, without the partisan implications. They all put Biden forward as their savior.

Sounds like a great fun laugh… and don’t forget pumping money into the political pockets for Global warming which does not even exist! HA! Sarcasm, back at ya with your humor box.

Nov 6, 2008 - 2:50 pm 46. Andrew Ian Dodge:

Obama, for instance, wants to re-distribute wealth via the means of government. That is clearly a socialist concept.

Obama may not be a socialist now he is President, but what he said to get there was certainly socialist by any reasonable definition. \

It might help some of those who get upset when we describe Obama as a socialist if they actually did some research into what it means to be a socialist. (Hint: socialism is not the same as communism or any of its variants (Marxism, Leninism, Maoism etc)

That’s why the futile socialism thing didn’t work. Becuase Obama is not a socialist, his policies just have the same sociliast tinge the US has had for a long time.

Getting back to the main story though. Pelosi and Ried will give them more than enough material to work with. With a dusting of Biden every once in a while….

Nov 6, 2008 - 3:46 pm 49. malclave:

I don’t think many comedians will try to make fun of Obama personally. Too afraid of being treated even worse than Wurzelbacher, when Obama has actual power… Room 101?

Biden, though, should offer up even more opportunities for ridicule than Quayle did. Given Biden’s ignorance on things like the Constitution and foreign policy, I think comic relief/ designated target may be the reason he was tapped for VP.

Nov 6, 2008 - 3:47 pm 50. gippergal:

Well, I do think it will take some time for them to garner the courage to fling some humor Obama’s way: but ironically, to avoid mocking him due to his race is actually racist behavior.

Unfortunately, the comics mostly represent typical mainstream media. I wonder, too, if people hesitate to mock someone who tends to be unable to laugh at himself.

The liberal illuminati need to be able to take themselves less seriously, but that’s probably like asking NPR to relax.

There will be a honeymoon period, of course. For now, there’s plenty of fodder making fun of those around Obama – Wright, Ayers, Keith Olberman, Oprah, Chris Matthews, that woman at the rally who thinks Obama’s gonna buy her a house and make her car run on unicorn farts…

folks might not laugh at first. To start, you might just get a rise out of them. they respond negatively, use it to segue into something else. Outrage and humor go together; how else are you going to slaughter someone’s sacred cows?

Boldness. Courage. A bit of madness. A fully-paid up life insurance policy. A predilection for reeducation camp food. Think you have what it takes? Go forth and joke, young comic.

For my part, I think McCain was wrong. Turns out the big rat with the big ears is a DemocRAT.

Btw, since America is now officially post-racial, white folks can now make black jokes. They can milk this license for 4 years. “Hey, I’m not racist. I voted for Obama! Ha. Ha. Ha.” They can do this again and again, and the blacks will just have to stew about it. See how they like being on the wrong end of political correctness.

A: Racist!

Nov 7, 2008 - 6:38 am 66. Saltherring:

Judging from the threatened lawsuits and boycotts of newsmedia that questioned THE ONE or posed “real” questions to Dimocrats during the campaign, Obama’s Brownshirts are lacing up the jackboots, at this moment, to ensure “their media” will be “fair and balanced”. Be assured, the revived “Fairness Doctrine” will include “hate speech” verbiage.

Nov 7, 2008 - 6:50 am 67. Robert Hurley:

I think if you look up the defition of socialism you will find it means government ownership of the means of production. I doubt if anyone could find any Obama statement advocating socialism. What the wingnuts here define as socialism is graduated income tax that we have had since the Civil War. The discussions might be more productive if the wingnuts would stick to the facts.

Nov 7, 2008 - 7:12 am 68. Shiba:

Robert, Marx wrote: “From each according to his ability; to each accoding to his need.” Redistribute the wealth — that’s precisely what Obama said.

Nov 7, 2008 - 8:58 am 69. Andrew Ian Dodge:

Thank you Shiba. Any cursory glance at what socialism means practically in Europe and comparing that to Obama’s plans sees lots of similarities. He is a Euro-style socialist.

Nov 7, 2008 - 9:04 am 70. jonesy55:

But European countries are not socialist in any meaningful way. Do you deny that the USA already has progressive rates of incoe tax which are then spent on the poor? (redistribution)

Bush, Reagan, Bush, they all had redistributive tax policies, are they all socialists?

Nov 7, 2008 - 9:29 am 71. Robert Hurley:

OK guys you keep on thinking Obama is a socialist and you will lose the next election too. Most american are prefectly happy with social security and medicare. I wish you would keep on attacking those socialistic programs. That way you will always be in the minoity

Nov 7, 2008 - 1:06 pm 73. Kurt:

Americans may be happy with social security and medicare, but the programs are structured almost like huge ponzi schemes. They drain more and more money from the budget and they’re heading for a collapse soon if nothing is done to correct the problem.

The fact is also that I doubt most Americans want our government or our economy to look more like that of France. You can deny that it’s socialism if you wish, but you can’t deny that France has had an employment rate of around 10% for years and years, and there is little room for entrepreneurship and innovation in that heavily structured and regulated economy.

Nov 7, 2008 - 1:26 pm 74. Gary Ogletree:

Hey! This is the good ol’ USA. We can do anything, especially comedy. Judging from McCain’s performance at the Al Smith dinner, Obama is gold for the right jokester. Then there will always be Hillary and Bill, and Say It Ain’t So, Railroad Joe {aka Senator Anti-Assassination Insurance). SNL has long lost it’s former glory. Let The Maverick and ONN lead the way.

Nov 7, 2008 - 2:51 pm 75. Pinkytoo:

I think it’s pretty funny to see Sarah Palin being thrown under the bus…by her own party.

But that’s just me

Nov 7, 2008 - 3:06 pm 76. Lisa Paul:

Even funnier than seeing Palin thrown under the wheels of the Straight Talk Express by MCCAIN’S OWN STAFFERS, was seeing a panel of liberals on today’s Chris Matthews Hardball defending her and saying it was unfair. And seriously, even those of us who thought she was too uninformed and ill-prepared to be dogcatcher, let alone VP, don’t believe for a moment that she didn’t know Africa was a continent, not a country.

I guess McCain’s team was so used to slinging the mud, they just can’t stop.

Nov 7, 2008 - 3:38 pm 77. Marc Malone:

Robert Hurley – Man, did you ever change the subject! But, hey, here I go.

Most people have a confusion about the difference between Capitalism and Socialism. Fact is, it’s apples and oranges. China is Communist, but they have a partly capitalistic system. Europe is socialist, but also have a partly capitalistic system. The difference between them is the amount of control over the means of production. Both of these systems can have some democratic elements to them, again by degree.

The thing is Marxist systems are not just financial, but governmental as well. Capitalism is stand-alone. It is an economic system, not a governmental one. Marxist systems all have the idea in common that the government takes a more active role in the day-to-day concerns of the public: a collectivist mindset.

This country has a republican system (elected representatives). These systems can also have different emphases. Ours is a democratic republic. China has an autocratic/communistic republic. Britain and Israel have socialistic and/or parliamentary republics.

So, there’s a bit of mixing and matching going on. Economically, the most dynamic is the democratic republic with a capitalistic system. We’ve drifted away from it by focussing more on the collectivist idea: the government should do more. People are shrugging off the idea that they should be completely responsible for themselves, believing that they can’t because of outside forces greater than themselves. Nevermind that their forefathers somehow managed it for about 2 centuries….

Taking from one group to provide a benefit that specifically benefits only another group is socialistic. Everyone benefits from national defense and national highways. Social Security provides minimal benefits to those who have been financially successful in life, but they have a cap on how much they pay into the system, and their reward (however meaningless) is roughly in line with their contribution. There is a contribution cap and a benefits cap.

However, when you remove the cap entirely, but don’t lift the benefit cap, then it becomes socialistic. Obama’s proposal to lift the cap to save the system has the implicit understanding that the wealthy will not be gaining increased benefits, because that would not save the system, just increase the long-term financial liability. So, his proposal is socialistic.

Same with healthcare. The rich do not benefit from his plan, but the expected revenues to pay for it does come from them. More socialism.

Giving rebates on one’s SS deductions (payroll taxes) via his federal “tax-cuts” is essentially giving people a free-ride for their SS benefits. They get the benefit of paying in, but get the money back. More socialism. I could go on, but you get my point.

So, two Obamas go into a bar, but only one of them gets recognized…. :D

Nov 7, 2008 - 3:52 pm 78. Marc Malone:

edit: parliamentary and/or socialistic

Nov 7, 2008 - 3:54 pm 79. Marc Malone:

SNL can always hire McCain. He has proven himself to be quite the effective comedian. He can then skewer Obama for the next four years while giving SNL political cover. The perfect foil.

Here’s hoping the liberals haven’t lost their sense of humor.

Nov 7, 2008 - 6:26 pm 81. Donna V.:

Hey, Bernadette Dohrn has potential as a stand-up comedian. She demonstrated her fab sense of humor years ago:

After a Chicago Democratic official, Richard Elrod, became paralyzed while fighting with a privileged looter during the Weathermen’s “Days of Rage,” Dohrn led the Weathermen in a song sung to the tune of Bob Dylan’s “Lay Lady Lay”:

Lay, Elrod, lay,
Lay in the street for a while
Stay, Elrod, stay
Stay in your bed for a while
You thought you could stop the Weatherman
But up-front people put you on your can,
Stay, Elrod, stay
Stay in your iron lung,
Play, Elrod, play
Play with your toes for a while

Isn’t that hilarious? She could write a song about assasinating Bush or something. She’d have Hurley rolling in the aisles.

Nov 7, 2008 - 6:29 pm 82. Andrew Ian Dodge:

MM: Well said. Thank you so much for that. V. precise and to the point.

Nov 7, 2008 - 8:34 pm 83. joe:

Since no sources were provided for the attacks against Palin but only reported in M$M, then it is reasonable to question if any comments were ever made or if this is just more fabrication by the propaganda organ of the left in America to protect Curious Barry, the Marxist in 2012.

Nov 7, 2008 - 9:18 pm 84. marx brother:

the joke is on [most] Obama supporters, who have been herded into voting for Bush IV. (Clinton is Bush II)

now that the confetti has fallen, take a hard look at the crew Obama

after years of bashing bush & cheney as “criminals,” they poured countless hours and money into an even bigger criminal who had been chosen by the Establishment in the first place.

Ya see, they know that those slated for the next phase of exploitation and imperialism are more likely to trust an “ethnic” prez.

ain’t that a gas!

Nov 7, 2008 - 10:11 pm 85. Kyle Spencer:

Chevy Chase was interviewed two days ago, and was asked if, when he mocked Gerald Ford’s tendency to stumble during his SNL days, was he was just doing it to be funny, or was there some anti-Republican motive and message behind it.

Chevy said that, like most SNL comedians then and now, they’re strongly pro-Democratic Party people, and would try any way they could to sway votes by tickling funny bones.

Over the years, when I’ve tried to postulate this premise, I can remember no one agreeing with me. Zero.

I’m sure most here don’t see this media conspiracy either, be it overt or not. At least, not to this extent.

But TV talk shows, both Letterman and Leno, from Ellen, Oprah and the View, to network drama shows like 30 rock and West Wing, and, ironically, “Band of Brothers” all basically have the same pro-Democratic Party bent.

Of course, in high education, nobody tries to hide it.

It’s even embedded in shows like MadMen, but much more subtly.

In the 1950’s, of course, things were different.

Shows, from Superman and Mr. District Attorney, from Dragnet and “I led three lives” to Father knows best and Walt Disney’s Disneyland, were highly pro-American. Yet, here’s the big difference. They weren’t trying to plant seeds to get you to vote Republican. They were just out to make money.

In my opinion, though, the assasination of JFK and strategically inept fighting of the Vietnam war combined with the lack of a draft, (the single biggest blunder of the century) created a generation from which the present knee jerk liberal was born. That generation is now producing the TV shows, making and acting in the movies, really controlling the media in this country.

The first generation of hard left newspaper people was born around 1990.

All of which pulls America left like the tide coming in. It’s a force almost impossible to resist.

If it’s part of a pro-left argument, many people swallow the whole thing. Jeremy Wright says, GD America and our President to be sits there and doesn’t even blink. Bill Ayers brags how he’s glad he bombed the Pentagon and police stations and our next President asks him if he wants his coffee with milk or sugar.

Right is wrong. Wrong is right. Up is down. Democracy is bad. Bush is evil. Palin is stupid. Biden has carte blanche when it comes to saying idiotic things. Progressive is good. In a short time, Socialism will be good, too. As acceptable as Black Panthers greeting voters on the steps of their voting place in Philadelphia on election, November 4, 2008.

It’s like a Seinfeld show where success lies in doing the opposite of what you know in your deepest marrow is right.

Well, it’s now November 8, 2008, Barack Hussein Obama is the President Elect and America is now the perfect climate for change.

But change to what? Answer; to a much more socialistic, non military type of country. The idea of Russia or Iran or some terrorist lobbing a huge missile that lands on the head of a child just learning to walk is the farthest thing from our minds.

National defense is as useful to the Obama administration as color is to the color blind.

I ask myself, “Where is this missive leading?”
Look, I know it’s not right for Pajamas Media. Here, we’re a lot more interested in what we have to write than what is there to read. Suffice to say, I’ve always liked this website. Always felt comfortable here.

Here’s the bad news. It started this morning, the day after the brown eyed handsome man won the election. Russia announced its plans to put missiles near Poland’s border to jam a U.S. anti missile defense system, something which on its face makes little sense.

But there are killer states out there that Barack Obama cares little about dealing with. Have you noticed? The danger is moving from terrorists to nation states.

The megamurdering states of the 20th century have been: the U.S.S.R. (1917-1987), 61,911,000; Communist China (1949-1987), 35,236,000; Nazi Germany (1933-1945), 20,946,000; and Nationalist (or Kuomintang) China (1928-1949), 10,076,000. These are followed by the “lesser” megamurdering states: Japan (1936-1945), 5,964,000; Cambodia (1975-1979), 2,035,000; Turkey (1909-1918), 1,883,000; Vietnam (1945-1987), 1,678,000; North Korea (1948-1987), 1,663,000; Poland (1945-1948), 1,585,000; Pakistan (1958-1987), 1,503,000; Mexico (1900-1920), 1,417,000; Yugoslavia (1944-1987), 1,072,000; Czarist Russia (1900-1917), 1,066,000.

Where’s the United States come in? Dead last.

Psssst. Mr. Obama. Mr. President (almost), the danger isn’t from within. It’s from without. Oprah, Ellen, Rosy, Mr. Mahar, Michael,

Nov 7, 2008 - 11:20 pm 88. Rachel Peepers:

Spring finally arrives in the Obama household, and one crisp Sunday morning President Obama is sitting quietly in his upstairs study reading a complicated position paper on the features and benefits of clean coal technology. His daughter, Malia is there, too, quietly playing with her favorite doll.

After a few minutes, Barack is distracted by a lapping sound, obviously coming from the nearby bathroom. With slight annoyance, Barack said, “Sounds like the puppy’s drinking out of the toilet again”

“Honey, Wouldja mind going in there and stop her? It’s a nasty habit.”

“Sure, Daddy”.

In just moments, Barack hears the lapping stop, and when Malia comes back, he thanks the little girl, and says it’s okay to give the puppy a little tap on the butt.

“Dad, it wasn’t the puppy”, said Malia. Mom was just getting a drink.”

As far as Obama is off limits, Michelle is ten times more so. But the honeymoon will soon be over, among both comedians and the general electorate itself.

And maybe breaking the dam of comedy about Obama is what this country needs to diffuse the absurd levels of racial tension that have plagued us. It couldn’t hurt.

Nov 8, 2008 - 5:02 am 91. TexEd:

Obama will be a lazy, clumsy and uninspiring President, almost from the outset. He will become very, very thin skinned, as will his wife. There will be very little public criticism of him or fun making at his expense. Letterman, Leno’s replacement and several other “comics” will have permanent White House “advisors” assigned to them to help them avoid telling stories that are not amusing.
Any humor with Obama as the target will very quickily be surpressed. The justification will be that it isn’t funny but merely enforces a racial stereotype.
You will hear little about Michelle’s humongous butt, nasty disposition or anti-white racism. There will be a price to pay for calling Obama “Chimpy” or “Mugabe” or “Kwame.”

I know I’m insulated here in Britain Andrew but I’ve been maoking Obama since January. If you are thick skinned enough to cope with being called a racist he’s great comedy material. His fairy story about hios Dear Old Dad’s humble beginnings provided me with a blog post that I titled Goat Boy as a tribute to the fearless comedy of Bill Hicks.

The point is if we have made fun of Bush and Clinton, if we have satirised McCain and Palin we are obliged to ridicule Obama. Not to do so would make us racists, after all the civil rights movement was all about everybody being treated equally. Chase my link on this post for a light sample.

Eh, it’s only a matter of time. Obama isn’t perfect. Sooner or later, he’ll do something dumb and people will be able to make fun of him. I say, after eight years of liberal ridicule directed at Bush, it’s only fair for the conservatives to direct the same at Obama.

Although I don’t like a lot of things Bush did, he was far from the idiot that liberals painted him as. He just made up too many words . . . :-/

I think Obama will eventually be an enormous target for comedy but not right away. I think you can make fun of his supporters who are easy to feel superior to. Once its PC enough to point out how gullible they are it will open up the opportunity to make fun of the source of their absolute loyalty.

Good comedy is not for the weak anyway. It tends to level the hypocrisies of polite society.
