I'm definitely not Canadian, but Saskatchewan politics, for me, is every bit as important as Oregon* politics or any other state for that matter. Among other things, it helps me to deal with the ugly, unspoken something that Canadians lay on you when you drive through to Alaska. It's also encouraging to read that somewhere, somehow, political things happen without reference to the machinations of the BusHitler/Cheney 'cabal', silly as that sounds. Now what we all really need is a voice, like Catherine McMillan's, to give us insight into what the thinking is in Baja -, Sonora, Chihuahua and the other border states del sur.

*Now Oregonians are truly 'alien'. There you're not even allowed to pump your own gas. If the tongue in cheek aspect of this footnote is lost to you, there in your Pendleton shirt, sorry.

Heather,

Some of the funniest bloggers on the web are Canadian. There must be a link between cold and humor.

One of the funniest is Mayor of Mitchieville (often NSFW).

Wow! a Canadian contributor to PJM! After all these years avoiding the horrors of Canadian current affairs, I guess I'll have to follow them via PJM now.
You know, there are a bunch of Canadian bloggers out there, and good ones too. Catherine McMillan is one of the best.

"It appears like a significant gain for our neighbors to the north in Saskatchewan to elect the SaskParty in the upcoming election."

The problem here John is that a very large percentage of the population depends directly on the government for a paycheck. So what is good for the province as a whole isn't necessarily good for the average government employee voter. The government owns the power, gas, and telephone utilities as well which gives them even more dependent voters. That can be a hard nut to crack for the opposition.

It appears like a significant gain for our neighbors to the north in Saskatchewan to elect the SaskParty in the upcoming election.

For a province with so many resources - both natural and human - it's hard to believe that its young people flee to greener pastures because of a leftist government and older folk with left-wing sympathies who still act as if The Great Depression is with us, and still needs interventionist government.

With a thriving Alberta next door, retaining the status quo seems like a very poor choice, when up-and-coming people can also vote with their feet.

I am Canadian.
I am aware of the PJM blog site, however because my main concerns are Canadian matters, PJM is not a must visit site for me regularly.
However, today Catherine McMillan's PJM piece regarding an election issue in her home province of Saskatchewan, directed her Small Dead Animals blog readers to the piece in PJM.
Which brings me to point out to PJM readers, Catherine, ( or Kate, as she is known on her top Canadian blog) rarely contributes editorial type posts such as the one above on her own blog.
Yet she has Canada's number one blog, SDA.
Sadly, whether by indifference or by design Catherine is ignored by Canadian MSM as a contributer for her profound conservative / libertarian insights into Canadian politics.
As a longtime media observer I am not aware of any other Canadian woman ( journalist) in Canada who could match her for clarity of expression on issues in Canada, or worlwide for that matter.

Her potential to be become Canada's Laura Ingraham or Michelle Malkin are there if only, if only, some independent Canadian medium would pursue her ( or whether she even wished to seriously engage) farther in the field.
