For everything else you can say about the US, it is not an outward-looking nation, unfortunately. We're still in a mindset in which other countries are only allowed to be interesting insofar as they're doing something flashy and directly involving the US, like fighting a war against us. Wasn't long ago, though, that an outlet of the nature of PJM wouldn't have said a word about the politics of another country, especially not one outside of Western Europe.
