And they feel it's not right. So ... either their own country is a free rider, or else there's something wrong with America -- but this is an unspoken feeling. The EU knows it is free riding on US defense ... but feels its America's fault. When the US doesn't make a big issue of, but it's always at least a little issue, then it IS America's fault. And the US should start leaving its big NATO bases, and letting Europe defend itself more, or not. One reason for so much anti-Americanism is because most in the world “know” the US is paying so much. And they feel it’s not right.
