Democracy rules;

Here are some examples of UN achievements

By having deployed 42 peace-keeping forces as of 1996, the UN was able to restore calm to allow the negotiating process to go forward while saving millions of people from becoming casualties of conflicts. There are presently 16 active peace-keeping forces in operation.

Since 1945, the United Nations has been credited with negotiating 172 peaceful settlements that have ended regional conflicts.

More than 30 million refugees fleeing war, famine or persecution have received aid from the UN High Commissioner for Refugees since 1951.

UN agencies have worked to make safe drinking water available to 1.3 billion people in rural areas during the last decade.

A 13-year effort by the World Health Organization resulted in the complete eradication of smallpox from the planet in 1980. The eradication has saved an estimated $1 billion a year in vaccination and monitoring.

		<description>Claudia
I want to thank you for staying on top of the UN and exposing the UN for the fraud that it is and why it is important that the United States stays a soverign nation. We should never align our nation with the third rate crooks and fools at the UN.

		<description>Claudia: Thank you for your vitally important web site and your relentlessly incisive reportage. Without you and your pursuit of the truth, the UN would be getting away with even more travesties. In the past I have proposed that the UN be sidelined by establishing an international congress of democracies. This would become the de facto leading world body, where all the power would be focused.

Recently I have been considering what the UN has done RIGHT over the years. Also, what is there about the UN which is useful or positive in some way? Some things that do NOT count is that it embodies some type of an ideal of world government, or that it stands for world peace, or that it stands against war and conflict. World government is not an ideal. The UN does not stand for world peace (instead it sits a lot). The UN has not prevented war. So I ask you, one of the leading authorities on the UN, this simple question: what has the UN done right, or in what way has it made a positive contribution to humanity? Even deadly nightshade, in low doses, can save lives... What say you?
