The price of this brand of diplomacy is that Bashar Assad got a house-call from the third-highest-ranking elected official of the United States. And then, there’s the little matter of her having badly misrepresented the message entrusted to her by the Israelis, prompting them to issue a hasty “clarification” of their position.
You have to wonder what the congressional democrats are thinking about all this . . . or are they as oblivious, egotistical and/or malicious as she? (I’m mindful of the old saw about never attributing to malice what you can to incompetence . . . but I wonder . . ..)
