I have an organization that runs a medical clinic in a town called Talanga, Honduras just about 1 1/2 hours north east of Tegus. The poor in this country will suffer the most because of the political situation. We are in desperate needs of pharmaceutical medicines and do not need any other hurdles to overcome in helping this town of 23,000 people. You can find out more on elevatehim.com under the Outreach tab.

30. M. Report:
23. Camo:

I was not suggesting "intervention" is appropriate; merely a more active role in what passes for governance the last several decades. To say "we get what we deserve" is
simplistic. I do not believe anyone "deserved" the political fiasco that was Vietnam. Speaking truth to power is vital.

Sorry in my ignorance I presumed the oath:

"to defend the constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God."

Meant what it said!

'We had to destroy democracy to save it'
Ive heard that before.

Zelaya was calling for a non-binding poll that at no point mentioned ANYTHING to do with term limits and was kidnapped by the military in his pyjamas (have you actually read the poll question?). If they had a legal leg to stand on he would have been tried in court, not abducted early in the morning at gunpoint by the military. And this isn't a coup how?

I'm afraid you can't just call someone a dictator because you disagree with them. Democracy isn't only democracy when your guy wins.

25. Saber:

A few examples:

"Does anyone need further proof that these so called “International Organizations” serve as nothing but a front for International Socialist."

"Perhaps our own military could take a more active role in DC politics. Their presence coupled with a dedication to country may be just the prescription to combat leftist flu."

"Not really, anyone who knows anything about the UN knows that you need to be a full out commie just to apply to work there."

"“Who has time to worry about Honduras? Where is that anyways? ”
somewhere in Africa, I think, next to Canada…"

"Whatever the perils and complexities ahead for Honduras, as its people try to defy the despotic shadows spreading out of places such as Venezuela, Iran, and the UN itself, the last thing any democrat anywhere needs to see, especially in a moment of crisis such as Honduras now faces, is the bulky figure of Miguel D’Escoto Brockman, disembarking from a plane, and offering his own variation on one of the world’s most terrifying sentences: I’m from the UN, and I’m here to help you."

You can smell the sulfur . . .

23. Camo: 9. Folklight: Military Intervention

What Camo said, plus

hoping you spoke from ignorance, Folklight,
rather than as an agent provocateur.

The U.S. Military teaching is clear here:
Never intervene in internal political struggles.

The One seems not to understand this, despite
already having been quietly reminded, at least
once, that he is CINC, not an Emperor.

The military is the second line of defense against tyranny (the first is separation of powers, including freedom of speech, press and assembly). Military officers swear an oath to defend the Constitution. Never once does an officer swear to obey the President or any other man. The last line of defense is an armed citizenry taking matters into its own hands should a tyrant rise to power and the military is unwilling or unable to stop him.
