He turned into Judas, IMO, because he's weak as all get out (he was easily led by his Osnos) and — oh yeah — there are bucks to be made. There was a time when I really wondered about whether or not it was possible to reprogram an adult. No more, if he's sufficiently weak and is grasping to enhance the prominence, if not the admirability, of his legacy. Irrespective of whether or not one likes/hates/approves/disapproves of Bush and/or his policies, McClellan is a totally contemptuous creature.
