Souter To Retire

Details at NPR; found via the Corner, which notes that President Obama will get to nominate his first Supreme Court justice remarkably early in his first term.

Update: Just recorded a quick interview with Glenn Reynolds for the top of Saturday’s PJM Political on Sirius-XM; and no doubt, he’ll have lots of thoughts at Instapundit.com. In the interim, checkout Allahpundit at Hot Air, who says arevaderche to “Bush I’s worst mistake.”

Update: Talk about “First Things”: The Anchoress takes the name of her new blogging affiliation seriously: “I do believe I may have been the first to Twitter about Souter retiring from the SCOTUS at the relatively young age of 69. You can’t blame him. It’s so arduous, being a Supreme Court Justice.” Heh.
