A.C. Kleinheider: There was a time when this battle might have been winnable for the Associated Press. Unfortunately for them, that time was probably somewhere around fifteen years ago.

That’s the problem, for the AP it is still 1994. (Ouch! Was that snarky?)

CNN also wishes it was 1994, when they weren’t getting killed by the competition. At Hot Air, Allahpundit spots a Tweet that, to paraphrase former CNN head honcho Eason Jordan, CNN’s Rick Sanchez probably wishes in retrospect he also kept to himself:

Mind you, this is a guy who evidently has no problem looking in the mirror right now despite (a) having a hit-and-run DUI on his record and (b) sharing a network with Lou Dobbs, whom many amnesty shills would say is the most passionately anti-illegal-immigration — and therefore, per lefty racial politics, “anti-Hispanic” — newsman on American television. Or have I misunderstood him and this isn’t about Fox’s immigration coverage at all but rather a highly nuanced point that “authentic” Hispanics must be liberals and therefore any Hispanic on the conservative news network is ipso facto a sellout?

I’m hoping for some pushback from Julie Banderas on the air this afternoon. We shall see. Meanwhile, a humble request to any Foxies who might stumble upon this post: When, as is inevitable, Geraldo turns up on Fox & Friends or wherever to talk about this, please have the integrity to remind him that he’s engaged in the same repulsive, racist “authenticity” politics that Sanchez is guilty of here.

And that’s on top of these classics from earlier this year:

• CNN host blurts that the Republican convention last year “literally look[s] like Nazi Germany.”
• “Objective” CNN anchorman smears half the country with “Teabagging” single-entendre innuendos.
• CNN reporter completely loses her own “objectivity” when interviewing protesters.
• Last year, CNN’s John Roberts famously declared his network a “Wright-Free Zone”, to help clear a path for The One’s eventually victory. But the network had no problem dusting off Wright’s equally race-baiting protege for an appearance this year.
• And now Sanchez.

Obviously, CNN took a Ba’ath in the years prior to 2003 which it has yet to fully recover from. But what’s gotten into the water this year?
