Steve Schwartz digs into the story, and finds an Iranian connection:

The four men named in the case…are products of Muslim minorities in the Caribbean - one lived in Trinidad, an island off the coast of Venezuela that was the alleged center for their planning; three are from Guyana, on the mainland nearby…

Early media reports have concentrated on the links of JFK suspects Abdul Kadir and Kareem Ibrahim with Jamaat al-Muslimeen - an eccentric Sunni cult that launched a bloody 1990 attempt to overthrow Trinidad’s government.

But Kadir, 55, and Ibrahim, 56, are Shia Muslims - and thus members of a tiny minority within a minority. (Muslims in Guyana and Trinidad are overwhelmingly Sunnis, with ethnic backgrounds in India and east Africa.) This is apparently the first case of Shia Muslims plotting a U.S. terror attack.

When he was arrested in Trinidad last Friday, Kadir was boarding a plane for Venezuela, en route to a religious conference in Iran. Ibrahim is also a Shia cleric, serving as imam in a Trinidad mosque.

Born Michael Seaforth, Kadir became Muslim in the early ’70s. He went to Iran for intensive study in theology and returned as a cleric. (He later sent his son Salim and daughter Sauda to the Iranian religious center of Qom for theological training.) But he also developed political interests, having won election to Guyana’s parliament as a member of the leftist People’s National Congress/Reform, and has a background as a theorist of the party’s socialist ideology.

It’s a global terrorist network, and we can be quite sure that there are lots of them in this country. As always, “the mosque” is central. Not all mosques are pro-terrorist, but virtually all terrorists were recruited via a mosque.

Dominique R. Poirier:

Sir,
There is no need to add something to this post, I believe; but if ever we may indulge in humor, given the circumstance, I can hardly help myself not to remark some amusing similarities I find between this affair and a fiction I enjoyed the reading of some months ago:

The Case of Four Friends; A Diversion in Pre-detection, by… J. C. Masterman,
London, Hodder and Stoughton, 1956.

Best regards,

ML:

Thanks very much, we need diversions…

It is amazing that ALL the terror acts around the world somehow directly or indirectly has the terrorist mullah regime’s fingerprints on them and still to this date there is no real voice of courage and no much willingness confronting this dangerous regime on any level. The world and its leaders have all become deaf, mum, blind and basically have submitted themselves to the policies of blackmailing and fear by the mullahs again directly or indirectly. There is no more reason, no more human values and no more principles that govern the policies of the free world. This indeed will have repercussions for our next generations in future. World is a dangerous place and we unless we get a President like Jefferson, I won’t be so sure about the status of our security much

ML:

Well, there are many terrorist acts that are not connected to the Islamic Republic, but they are after all the leading sponsor of terrorism.

And you should read Jefferson’s actions carefully, he played both ends against the middle, actually.

“Iran has five hostages” T
I understand they are trying to get up to 66 American hostages. Why? That’s a lucky number for Iran. Anyone know why?

I’m not surprised. Iranian regime is committed to the total destruction of the U.S.

Now that we came to know the JFK terrorists have converted to Shi’it, it makes it even more clear the connections. The Khomeiensts use these Islamists as slaves, and by paying them money and brainwashing them in Qom, prepare these slaves to harm civilization. They have done the same with Islamists and radicals from all around the world. There is no way that Khomeinists provide resources to the people of other countries, unless they are willing to participate in Khomeinsts related activities around the world. The people who have traveled to Iran and Qom have reported of existence of a huge housing complex in Amin Boulevard in Qom, which houses most of the Islamists terrorists and their families from around the world. Khomeinists even train small children of these Islamists for their future activities.

Jun 6, 2007 - 10:50 am Aryamanesh:

Dr. ML
There is no need to try proving connection between Rouge Regime occupying Iran and Islamist Terrorists of the world when the IRI selected Prez of Iran makes statement like this repeatedly:
“The count down button for annihilations of Israel has already been pushed by Lebanese and Palestinian warriors and there is no return. God willing we all will witness the annihilation of Zionist regime in near future.”
He made this statement this passed Sunday during memorial day of Khomeini passing on while international media were present.

Machiavelli on Modern Leadership: Why Machiavelli’s Iron Rules are as Timely and Important Today as Five Centuries Ago

by Michael Ledeen

American Enterprise Institute resident scholar Ledeen offers an updated version of the rules for leadership laid down by Machiavelli. Its the nature of humans to do evil, and war is our natural state. Anyone who would wield power in such a setting, writes Ledeen, echoing Machiavelli, “must be prepared to fight at all times.” This is as true in business, sports, and politics as it is on the battlefield.
