Some fifty German companies are under investigation for illegally helping the Iranian nuclear program, AFP reports.
What’s interesting here is the flow chart: from Germany through Poland to Russia and on to Iran. A bit confusing, perhaps, which might explain AFP’s little blunder:
The project has been hit by a series of delays and financial difficulties, which has seen Russia and Moscow accuse each other of not living up to their obligations.
To be sure, the Russian hinterland has often been in conflict with Moscow, but not on this occasion. They mean Russia and Iran. But the intimacy between the two countries has been so great that if you were writing this story quickly, you might be forgiven for the error. The Iranian nuclear program comes above all from the Russians, who collected components all over Europe, and frequently shipped (AFP does not tell us this, but it is well documented) via Belarus.
If you want to know how it all works, just ask the Clintons. Bill approved a secret agreement–negotiated by crazy Al, his vice president, with his Russian counterpart, comrade Chernomyrdin–that permitted the Russians to build the nuclear reactor at Bushehr.
This is not Putin’s baby, it goes back quite a ways.

Winston:Each penny the Eurowhinnies spend in Iran prolongs the mullahs reign for one more day!
Jul 13, 2007 - 12:55 am Azad Andish - Tehran:Islamic Republic News Agency ( IRNA ) wrote :
- “The Iranian and IAEA officials would set a 60-day benchmark to bring to an end the dispute about technical aspects of Iranian nuclear program and go ahead with constructive cooperation.”
- IAEA Safeguards Director Olli Heinonen said on Thursday that IAEA and Iran will continue talks on adopting a benchmark for settlement of technical dispute in coming weeks.
Yet another procrastination. Yet another 60 days added to 5 x 360 = 1800 days after the first contact of IAEA with mullahs regarding their nuclear project ( September 2002: The head of Iran’s Atomic Energy Organization announces Iran’s “long-term plan to construct nuclear power plants…within two decades,” and the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) asks about the sites at Natanz and Arak.”
Yet another diplomatic pimping by a
teethless organization supported by 5 + 1 ” powers”.
Yet another meaningless speech by Mr Bush repeating for the 1000th time Bush blaming Iran, Syria, Hizbullah for Iraq chaos.
Yet a brakeless barbaric regime continuing its criminal medieval practices against its people, continuing killing American soldiers in Iraq, capturing Gaza Strip in Lebanon, and quite aggressively completing its nuclear bomb project.
I read in Israel’s ministry of foreign affairs’ website ( the Farsi one ) that Israel rejected Italy’s ( Mr Perudi’s ) proposal to accept a nuclear Iran.
Tell me the truth. Just suppose you are Khamenei. Your tamed dog ( Ahmadinezhad) threatens everybody in the world and the so-called powers are all so frightened they prefer not to face him. The UNSC stops passing even watery resolutions just because you say you are considering a blueprint of how to continue negotiations. A Mr Bush calls you and your friend Mr Assad parts of axis of evil 1000 years ago. The same Mr Bush repeats/ begs you should not kill his soldiers and you speed up and expand your killing operations. An Israel cannot overcome a few number of armed rascals in Lebanon in 33 days. You destroy them and they say the “diplomacy” is the way you should be dealt with.
How do you act then?
And the last point. Which answer suits Mr Bush and his EU friends best ?:
Jul 13, 2007 - 2:47 am kourosh:1 - They are all idiots.
2 - They are all gutless.
3 - They are all perplexed.
4 - all of the above
Carter created the Islamist, Khomeinist, Taliban monster and Clintons feed, their FM (Madam NoBright in a symposium sponsored by Oil companies) apologized for actions contributed to US CIA in 1953, and Al thought flushing toilet 2 times instead of 3 (as most radicals and MovOn crowed believe) is more important than human life under Khomeinists and Talibans.
The socialists and cronies in the media will do anything to prolong suffering of Iranian people under Khomeinists, implementing European-Style colonial politics which is no care for human suffering and is only to make green (money). To demonstrate Leftist propaganda, here is an AP phrase from their today reporting:
“Any Iranian decision to cooperate with the agency could weaken a push by the United States and Western allies on the council to impose new U.N. sanctions — even if Iran continues to defy the council’s main demand that it freeze uranium enrichment.”
Now if you are a Khomeinist and totally aware of struggle between the Right (those who promote democracy) and The Wrong (LeftOver Marxists and Socialist Int. who back stab US any time they get a chance) don’t you act the same way? According to this AP report anything that IRT does will weaken the adoption of new UN sanctions. Now if you are a Khomeinist agent, wouldn’t you cooperate a bit on procedural rules which might enable IAEA to check on some issues few months down the road while the main issue of Freeze is not even discussed?
Jul 13, 2007 - 10:23 am Cyrus:As usual you raise many great points Dr. Ledeen. So what is your take on the gas rationing? I heard from another Iran expert’s web site that the Iranian government wants to hoard fuel in the event of a possible and highly likely military confrontation with the U.S. Take care and I always look forward to your posts.
ML:
it’s hard to “hoard” something you don’t have to begin with…
Jul 13, 2007 - 11:39 am Alireza:This week was indeed loaded with tons of contradictory news from everywhere. On one hand, as I try to connect my visionary dots, I sense Iran and U.S. are getting close to some kind of either into kissing one another OR they might beat the hell out of one another!! Which way things go, I don’t know, but as the word “chatters” keeps coming up again, things are very fishy.
I just read that some rich Iranian Jews who LIVE in the U.S. have provided MORE funding for Jews in Iran to leave for Israel!!!
I mean, these kind and nice Jews could not be nicer to make these Iranian Jews come to U.S., and not to mention that these same Jews don’t want to leave U.S. themselves and live in Israel, but they are kind enough to pay for those in Iran to go to Israel!!
Why did I write this part? Well, my brother used to live in Queens. 99% of his neighbors were all Jews. There were many Iranian Jews as well. His next-door neighbor was a nice guy by the name of Mr. S. One day when I was talking to Mr. S. he said they could somehow make it to U.S. and stay here.
But when his brother from Iran left for Israel, he could not take it more than a year there. He ended up going back to Tehran. He said as soon as he got to Mehrabad airport he kissed the ground at the airport and said I’m f… so and so if I leave Iran for any other place!!! And I’m hearing this from his brother in Queens!! Mr. S. said that we could do his paperwork so he could come to U.S. but he does not want to leave Iran anymore.
Now my point is these rich Iranian Jews who are LIVING IN U.S. and wanting to promote Jews to go to Israel they don’t want to live there themselves, but they are willing to throw some change money to let others to go there.
And one other thing that made me feel good about Iranian Jews, after reading an article by an Iranian Jew living in U.S. that Iranian Jews read their Torah in Farsi and that is not something that other Jews do, and other Jews don’t like this!! Even Iranian Muslim don’t read Quran in Farsi—which I think it must be done SOON.
What many people don’t understand is official statistic of Iranian Jews in Iran might be 25,000. But in reality there are so many Iranians who are in reality 10%, 20%, 99% or 100% Jew, but they are Shia Muslim!! And I know many of them. One famous Iranian Jew that many people know is Shariat-madari who is Khamenei’s Rep. at Keyhan newspaper. The last portion of Shariat-madari’s last name ends with “Tauzeh Mosalmon”—meaning: recently converted to Islam! And there are so many of them in Iran and they are more Shia than Moghtada Sadr in Baghdad!!! LOL…
I think if these Iranians are added for that $60,000 per family, I think funding this program might run out of money fast!!
ML:
So, Alireza, you would have us believe that Jews live better in IRan than in Israel? Are you kidding? And you have the nerve to criticize people who donate money to save the Iranian Jews?
Feh.
Jul 13, 2007 - 9:44 pm Alireza:I did not want you to believe one way or another. I told you EXACTLY what I knew of an Iranian Jew years ago. And I don’t want to mention others that I know that they are doing fine in Iran and they make sure to visit Dubai whenever Iranian singers from LA fly to Dubai for concerts. Does it mean everyone is happy and living in heaven in Iran? Absolutely not. What I’m saying is Iran is bad for all. Making things pure black and white is too easy.
If these rich Iranian WERE LIVING in Israel and THEN they were encouraging them to go to Israel that was great. Or if they were spending money to bring them to U.S. I’d respect that too. BUT, when these Iranian people don’t want to live in Israel and spend money to take OTHERS to go to Israel is disrespectful to Iranian Jews. That is why their Rep. in Iran said over 70% of Iranian Jews live in U.S. So he is saying that these people are phony.
OK, if I was one of those rich Jews and I was living in U.S. then for sure I would have done everything to bring them to U.S. and NOT Israel. I use to have a Jewish girlfriend from Russia who first lived in Israel for a year or so, until she was able to move to U.S. She told me about the hardship she had in Israel.
Dr. Ledeen you know what I’m saying and it is not that complicated. It is not that complicated that many of them are staying in Iran, just like some foreign reporters I heard likes to stay in Iran and stay there for a long time, and that is why they keep their mouth shut and don’t write about hard news inside Iran, so they are not deported. And I know some of them even bought properties there.
Jul 13, 2007 - 11:35 pm David P.:Alireza: I think you’re misunderstanding intentions of the rich Jewish Americans. We see our forces building up in the gulf and think to ourselves there may be some sort of military action against Iran. It’s in our nature as Jews to save as many of our own as possible. History tells us that minority diaspora Jews are easy scapegoats when the going gets tough. This accompanied by the Iranian presidents declaration that Israel is to be wiped from existence. If this is true who do you think the angry mob inside Iran will go after first when they’re being bombed by Israel and the USA. I see your point, if rich American Jews won’t live in Israel why should they offer it to others. You’re critical of the hypocrisy surrounding this debate, a point which is rendered invalid by the situation those Iranian Jews may find themselves in the very near future.
