Sam, a regime agent can be a normal person with family and a job to attend every day. LOL. I am a traitor to the regime that has occupied Iran since 1979 and am proud of it. The country I used to call Iran is now occupied by the likes of you and your beloved Mullahs. Please don't lecture us on what country means or doesnt mean. What a fool!

I guess this means that there'll be an Iran invasion/bombing soon... I'll try to remember to duck&cover. I say this given the recent rhetoric run-up on both sides. I fear the narrow-minded viewpoint of your letter will be implemented as more disastrous Bush administration policy. Bush has four more months to destroy the nation -- is that why you say "Faster, Please?"

Is there any reason why you feel such a strong need to get a war started -- beginning with the disrespectful tone of your letter. I am in no way a fan of President Ahmadinejad, however, I feel that the actions of this administration (that you've spearheaded) will lead to unecessary violence against Israel. For starters, it might be a good idea to understand the source of your hatred much like your attempted psychoanalysis of Pres. Ahmadinejad:

Nobody, not even Jimmy Carter — who dismissed the 1950’s US-lead coup that installed the Shah of Iran as “old history.” — Seems to see our direct role in inspiring Islamic militants. The US has been messing with Iran for over half-a century. Soon after Iran got its first democratically elected government, the US launched a coup from within the US embassy in Tehran that installed the brutal dictator “The Shah of Iran” and we gave him weapons and spy/communication equipment to create a police state. Decades later when Iran finally deposed the shah in a revolution — they thought back to the 1950’s when the US launched an attack against their free and fairly elected government from within the US embassy … From Iran’s perspective, the entire “hostage crisis” was a tactical maneuver to prevent a repeat of what America did in the 50’s — install a brutal dictator and setup a police-state… again! And when Iran’s president starts with the anti-American propaganda … what he says resonates within the country because everybody knew someone who was imprisoned, tortured, disappeared, murdered or raped under US authority, with US weapons, with US spy equipment and radios… by the US-installed puppet dictator. It’s very convenient for the owners of FOX news to forget to report this little detail on why Iran is a problem — it’s a problem because we made it a problem, just like all the other governments we prop up and people we oppress, just so we can drive our SUV’s around and enrich bush’s oill buddies in Texas, Kuwait, UAE, Saudi, and Myanmar.

Please stop messing with the world. It was a much better place before you lot started stirring the pot by helping promote a hatred of Israel in the Arab world -- used as "fascist" cover to the kleptocracies that are impoverishing and holding back the people of their nations. That is the source of the "terror masters" -- the USA's own policies that support arab fascist oil regimes to the detriment of their citizens. The opposite dialectic -- "war on terror" -- is the west's cover for it's own kleptocrats, who you so happily represent.

You people don't even care about Israel other than your own death-march towards "salvation" via "armageddon." You're happy to plant parallel-ideologies in both the middle east and the west; ideologies that have no chance of ever meeting in the hopes of kindling a perpetual war. You and the fascist administration's business and military buddies will be there to collect all the pieces in the fire-sale when the battle(s) are all over. You get your "creative destruction" and the neo-crucaders get their Armageddon.

Got any comments on my recent blog entry:

Nice letter, though it is too bad it's not in the form of a nuclear missile headed for the Majlis while Nejad is speaking there one day.

Yes, the unfortunate and painful reality though is that our President Bush has joined the "Axis of Fear" on Iran: http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,428265,00.html

As long as Iran-appeasers and spineless morons like Condi Rice(who knows next to nothing about foregin policy), and of course the illustrious Bob Gates(yellow Bob) are in charge of our Iran policy, I am afraid Sam is right: Nejad will live to be a 100-years old and win another 2 terms as president.

In fact, why don't we wish them well on that while Condi is still here and still able to "F" things up with all of our enemies?

At Last! I see the error of my ways. The Iranian Contributor done brushed the scales from my eyes. All these years I foolishly believed the international press were giving the world true and accurate accounts of :

(a) the child-martyr mine-sweeping brigades, made to walk in cheap pyjamas and barefoot before the armed Iranian soldiers to clear paths through Iraqi minefields with their pathetic scrawny bodies;

(b) the arrest, torture, summary trials, and execution of tens of thousands of dissenters, dissidents, communists, unionists, evangelical Christians, insufficiently modest or chaste Muslim females, homosexuals, adulterers, and other conspicuous enemies of the Mullahs;

(c) the accelerating preparations by Iran for war - nuclear weapons development, ballistic missile development, etc.

Obviously, all the photos and videos of public executions and corpses dangling from industrial cranes like chickens on display at the butcher's --- those are all fakes. It's a vast Jewish conspiracy. Ahmadinejad and friends are really a bunch of sweet blokes I would quite fancy meeting at the pub for a round of tea and cakes and a game of skittles.

Sorry it's taken so long to wrap my head around that. Now I see, it really is the Mainstream Media who have been lying to us all along. Where to I send away for my Convert-to-the-Persian-Islamic-Death-Cult application?

Mr. Ledeen, thanks as usual for your output.

Sam, re: people hating the USA - Iran is currently the no.1 most hated nation in the world. ( http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/shared/bsp/hi/pdfs/02_04_08_globalview.pdf ). Israel, sadly, is second I believe, but then, we already knew that there is a lot of ignorance in the world.

The Islamic regime took Iran, a rapidly-modernising country with a robust economy and a growing middle-class and the respect of the world at the time of the Shah's reign, and turned it into a loser, pariah state - broken of purpose, ruined of morality - the rule of the cunning-and-hateful-but-ultimately-stupid. The rulers of Iran and their followers are an embarassment, and have brought shame on Iranians present and future. Iran is run by black-hearted crooks and hypocrits whose dictates are enforced by the paid murderers and thugs of the State.

Sam, why is it that most young Iranians are desparate to leave their country? Are they also traitors? Or just sensible? Not everyone has the courage to stand up to the regime, knowing that they and their family will probably pay the price with their freedom and their lives. All regimes based on fear rely on this. Iran, along with China, is the number 1 killer of it's own people amongst all nations. I am chilled by how easily you call Winston a traitor.

May God help roll back the darkness that has fallen on my country.

Cyrus, the founder of the first Persian Empire, restored the Jewish people, fallen into bondage in Babylon, to their homeland of Israel, and rebuilt the Temple. For this he was honoured.

Perhaps it's too much to ask Israel to repay the favour by removing from the Iranian people the yoke of the Islamic regime, given the current circumstances.

Do we just wait until such a time that Iran can quietly dispose of its failed Islamic ideology, much like China did with its Communist policy?

And explain what "regime agent" means???? i guess agents of the FBI, or CIA are also considered regime agents?? right.

The fact is that the United States cannot stop iran from attaining nuclear power for electricity purposes. That in itself is not illegal. Iran as a signatory to the NPT has the right to develop and use peaceful nuclear energy. if you have a legal basis for your argument please come forward, if not, stop spewing your bs about "regime agents"...hahaha..wow, and then you wonder why people around the world hate the US "regime".

Now tell us how you really feel, Mr. Ledeen. LoL.
Great piece! Thank you.

To SAF: It won't take an army. Ahmadinejad will leave when Khamenei tells him to.
Or when we bomb the majlis while in session & Ahmadinejad is in attendance.
I like this 2nd option.
