Faster, Please!

Hello Texas

We are off to Houston this morning for our son Daniel’s graduation from Rice University, and then his commissioning in the Marine Corps.  He will be the second Marine officer in the Ledeen clan, and will start The Basic School at Quantico in late June.

Before then, we will all go to Italy for R & R, the last time for many years that we will all be together on holiday (the Marines don’t give summer vacations), so it’s an exciting time for us.

Meanwhile, my only substantive thoughts today have to do with newspapers.  I admit to a twinge of happiness whenever certain newspapers shut down.  I was kind of rooting for the Boston Globe to close, but the one I’m really waiting for is the St. Louis Post Dispatch, which once accused me of being an Israeli spy on the front page one Sunday morning early in the Iran-Contra Affair.  There is a fine bottle of champagne in the downstairs frig awaiting that happy moment!

Be well.  Back soon.

Dr. Ledeen,
Yes, they spoke and wrote lies and the fabricated rumors in the right of Advocates and Philosophers of the Absolute Axis of Good.

It is difficult on their minds to understand that you are really noblemen.

Indeed, you struggle strongly for the USA Greatness and for people freedom.
They are very skilled in the gossip and scandals sell.

Michael, I echo the others congrats to Daniel.

How are Gabe and his sister?

You and your wife must be so very proud.

And to think the Rice Hotel was the scene of one of your greatest triumphs 35+ years ago and now Daniel is graduating from Rice

Oh thats right no connection :) :)

Congratulations to Daniel, and I hope you all enjoy your holiday. And what an amazing family you are.

May God bless the Ledeen family. Rice University is only a half hour drive from my home. It is seems overall too left-wing for my taste. Am I being fair? Let’s hope that I’m exaggerating. Rice wants to be perceived as the Harvard of the southwest—and this is definitely not a good thing!

I don’t know Mr. Daniel, but I am extremely admire and proud of this terrific family.
However, I know or rather WE KNOW that his father Dr. Michael Ledeen is one of those who are fighting strongly and strongly and strongly for the USA Greatness and to spread the USA Influence everywhere on the earth. We know that Dr. Ledeen” always strongly struggle for people FREEDOM. We know that the US Marines are always in the forefront of every American war. They risk in their spirits for your life, they risk their life for the US Greatness, they risk in their life for people freedom, they risk in their life to MAKE THE WORLD SAFER.
I think, today the USA born a new loyal advocate for its Greatness that the US indeed lacks to this sort of brave guys. No doubt in this wonderful forum we often focus on ideas and most of us learn from this brilliant man “Dr. Michael Ledeen”, and today his son Daniel became one of those who WATCH OVER YOU WHEN YOU SLEEP. I think it’s a generous of us on this forum to say “CONGRATULATIONS “. I REALLY WONDER!!!

May God bless the USA and bless the US Marines

Congratulations Sir; Wow a Lt. of Marines, can there be a higher honor? Isn’t just ironic that the men and women who seem to be the first to stand up and fight for our country and the very one’s that the print media and the tv talking airheads are the first to pounce on?

May 30, 2009 - 1:26 pm 12. El Jefe Maximo:

Congratulations to your family and to your son, and hope you enjoyed your stay in my city.

...transcend[s] mere descriptive narrative and seek[s] to fix a value—political, philosophical or strategic—on the events of 9/11…
—Tunku Varadarajan
Wall Street Journal

by Michael Ledeen

Michael Ledeen takes a fresh look at Tocqueville’s insights into our national psyche and asks whether Americans’ national character, which Tocqueville believed to be wholly admirable, has fallen into moral decay and religious indifference.

by Michael Ledeen

American Enterprise Institute resident scholar Ledeen offers an updated version of the rules for leadership laid down by Machiavelli. Its the nature of humans to do evil, and war is our natural state. Anyone who would wield power in such a setting, writes Ledeen, echoing Machiavelli, “must be prepared to fight at all times.” This is as true in business, sports, and politics as it is on the battlefield.
Kirkus Reviews

by Michael Ledeen

With the skill of a born storyteller, Michael Ledeen weaves together key moments in the fall of communism. His insider’s knowledge of the interplay of complex personalities and Byzantine strategies makes a compelling narrative, one enlivened by his wry wit and flair for the dramatic.

In this call to embrace the worldwide democratic revolution, the author argues that global democracy should be the centerpiece of U.S. strategy.
