Dear Phyllis:

I'm glad to hear that you are indeed well. The main thing is never have your knees removed! It not only makes it hard to tie your own shoe laces, but it makes one shorter...

Well, Phyllis, there ain't a lot of coverage here on the incredible milestone of Israel's 60th. I must say, everyday, something is read or learnt that makes me more of a Zionist, as I fill in the blanks and destroy along my jouney, the myths and propaganda that I have heard since I was a kid, and I ain't even Jewish! The standard junk is often casual, taken for granted, stupid and ignorant, [or much worse], but it's always basically anti-Semitic in tone or intent none the less.

A few online friends and I went to the recent Daniel Pipes lecture in Melbourne and this was my take on it. All the best Phyllis. Colonel Neville.

Dear Phyllis

thank you for writing that - it was fascinating to read.

I concur completely with your final paragraph, the one that begins "I understand more than ever how a Holocaust can happen". Know that I, too, am praying - 'storming heaven' is one way to describe it. Right now I am asking the Holy One to cover the whole of Israel - and indeed, the entire House of Israel, Jews everywhere in the world - with His protecting presence; to surround you with His angels.

I am praying that He will inspire my own nation, Australia, to step forward as Righteous among the nations; to stand with you, even if our great ally the USA should wimp out and betray.

When our prime minister and leader of opposition moved, in federal parliament, a motion of congratulation to Israel upon her 60th birthday (a motion which was passed - and a reception was held afterwards, for the Israeli ambassador) I wrote - and emailed - them both, doing my best to explain how important it was that we should stand with Israel, since Israel has withstood a pitiless Jihad for sixty years. I even told my newly-elected Prime Minister that he ought to recognise Jerusalem as Israel's capital city and shift the Australian embassy in Israel, from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem!
