....1992 April, War Breaks out in Bosnia & Hercegovina. April-November, No Reports of Systematic Rape of Muslim Women.
Thorough research of press reports and international documentation during this period shows complete absence of reports of “systematic rapes” or otherwise greater than average wartime rape numbers. Refugees had been streaming into Croatia and other countries and had been interviewed for months with no indication of such allegations.

November, News Blitz of Muslim Rape Victims.
Sudden reports by major press sources of massive numbers of rapes of Muslim women, without mention of rapes of Serbian women, provided by such partial sources as government sources of Croatia and Bosnia & Hercegovina. Numbers of Muslim rape victims issued by these same sources bounce all over the board, 60,000 to 10,000 casting full doubt on the validity of numbers or reliability of sources. Press and TV stories of 3month old babies flooding hospitals inundate the media; the war started in earnest in May, 6 months earlier suggesting that the rape victims were giving birth at 3 months of pregnancy a veritable epidemic of premature births.....

The Secretary General of the United Nations, Mr. Boutros Boutros Ghali issued a report on the findings of the Commissionof Experts investigating war crimes in the former Yugoslavia, A/48/858 (Attachment XIII). In this report he cites that in the summer of 1993 the “Commission of Experts sent a mission to Sarajevo ... to conduct several pilot studies, including one on rape, and to receive the documentation on rape cases that the War Crimes Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina had promised in April”. In previous announcements the Bosnian Government had claimed that they had in their possession files on 15,000 cases of rapes of Muslim women by Serb men. However, the UN report continues, “During the mission, the Commission of Experts obtained from the War Crimes Commission all their information identified as relating to this issue (listing 126 victims, 113 incidents, 252 alleged perpetrators, 73 witnesses and 100 documents).” Thus ALL of the Bosnian Government information included only 126 cases of rape. This is a far cry from the 15,000 to 60,000 claimed by the same Government. To this date there has been NO EVIDENCE or reliable information accepted as legitimate by any international body that substantiates either that rapes of Muslim women by Serb men were the only cases of rape, that they were systematic nor that they were in the tens of thousands as the international political and media communities have so irresponsibly perpetrated. This report is available in its entirety which includes complete copies of all the international reports cited above.
ABC-TV’s Charley Gibson early in the YU-war interviewed Franklin Graham, son of the evangelist Billy Graham, on the latter’s return from the fracturing Yugoslavia. Asked how many rapes, Graham answered 200 on all sides. Gibson: “we were told it was much more’. Cherif (Sharif) Bassiouni, on WTTW (John Callaway show, 27 January 1994) spun out the number “20,000, and that’s just the tip of the iceberrg”. Fast Eddy Vrdolyak, Chicago city councilman and hustler broadcast that the number was 70,000. Chicago chiropractor Hasim Cosovic, in a talk at Northeastern Illinois University put the number at 80,000. One susceptible woman in the audience visibly suffered paroxysms. That’s pornography.

The monumental charge of Serbian "systematic rape" is as much a fraud as the Protocols of the Elders of Zion, served up to incite hatred and merciless war against the alleged perpetrators. It's of a kind with the Blood Libel against the Jews. Jim Harff of PR firm Ruder Finn boasted of hoodwinking Jewish organizations into supporting Nazi Croatia and Islamist Bosnia against the Serbe. Ruder Finn was paid handsomely by Croatian, Muslim and unnamed sponsors (spook services). See

Professor Catharine MacKinnon, law professor at the University of Michigan gave a talk to a feminist gathering at the Palmer House in Chicago. Ms MacKinnon deeply stirred her feminist gathering with a claim of tens of thousands of rapes by Serbs on Muslim women. She had, she said, interviewed a Muslim woman raped in a Serbian concentration camp in Vojvodina, northern Serbia. Professor MacKinnon told her audience that this victim had been forced to perform fellatio for five hours (!) on a Serb soldier and keep him erect. On 24 November 97 on ABC-TV, the author Erica Jong referred twice to MacKinnon and Andrea Dvorkin as “weird women”. Mackinninon's audience did not find the 5-hour Olympiad incredible, though Cialis and Viagra warn their customers to see a doctor if priapism lasts four hours or more.

BBC, which maintains a strong anti-Serb news spin to the present date (2008), broadcast an interview with Aleksandar Sebek, who said the place in question was a safe refugee center housing people fleeing the war in other parts of Yugoslavia. There was no warfare in Vojvodina. Croatian feminist Vesna Kesic writing in the magazine Off Our Backs, rebutted the rape charges, saying the numbers were fake and that the whole campaign was designed as a racist pogrom against the Serbs.
Where are all the babies? Germany's weekly "European Jurnal" on Deutsche Welle warmed up the rape babies" story recently. You can always believe them.-- Who ran the logistics? Who was the commander of the operation? How much was the budget? Where are the babies? How many abortions were there? How is it that victims were delivering full term babies in four months? -- Before you repeat slander check your sources' credibility and veracity.

"Palestinian faux-tography"
That's a great phrase!
All that Phyllis has so eloquently described and chronicled is what is known professionally as "Pyschological Warfare" or Psyops. It is the manipulation of people's perceptions and attitudes by controlling the flow of information they are exposed to. In today's Age of Information, controlling the flow of ideas through the Media is more to winning wars than might armies, cruise missles, smart bombs or even Nuclear arsenals bristling with mass death. As a North Vietnamese commander told an American:
"We know we can't beat you on the battlefield, but we can beat you on the streets of New York Washington, D.C., and San Francisco."
Bin Laden said, "50% of this war is a media war".
The New York Times and other left papers are actually functioning as agents of Psychological Warfare against their own people.
They are yanked about by their Politicaly Correct noserings. The Islamists must cackle with delight at their success.
The left gloats now, convinced that the real enemy is George Bush and that to get rid of him is to save the world. The sneers will leave their faces on the day multiple nuclear bombs go off in major US cities, crop dusters spray radioactive dust over L.A...when the economy collapses under such attacks...no one will buy their newspapers at all anymore.

The international community isn't interested in prosecuting war crimes; they enable them and then issue condemnations and demand more cash from the US to prop up the collection of Thugocracies and Kleptocrats called the UN. Why else do we have countless resolutions condemning Israel for attacking Muslim terrorists, who would kill their own female relatives for "dishonor", and say nothing about the same?

The international community isn't interested in human rights, quite frankly. They are only interested in money and power.

Regarding your article on rape:

If karma exists, in the next stage of evolution, retribution will come in the form of gender switch ... while living in a world where human attitudes remain unchanged. Nothing kills a spirit as swiftly as rape! It is a lifelong sentence of painful hurt that won't go away.

Phyllis -
bravo. Powerful article! I think rape is so horrible because it takes something that SHOULD be life-affirming, even holy (think of the Shir haShirim; think of the Christian marriage vow, for example - 'with my body I thee WORSHIP [honour]' says the man!) and blasphemes it - worst of all, when a man or men rape a little girl or woman to death, or combine rape with mutilation and murder.

I can understand the earth-shattering rage of Persephone's mother Demeter when Hades rapes her daughter (perhaps the fact that Persephone is not completely rescued, that she must spend winter with Hades, can be used as an analogy for the lifelong trauma suffered by one who is raped). How many mothers of raped daughters must wish that they, also, could rage like Demeter did?

Thinking mythically again: one can understand the destroying figure of Kali, if one thinks of rape and abuse of women, as a blasphemy against the Shekhinah, the Shakhti, the Hagia Sophia. Judgement: those who refuse to delight in and honour the feminine as Shakhti or Shekhinah, must in the end be forced to experience it as the wrath of Kali (Phoolan Devi!).

Perhaps it's appropriate here to recall your exposition of the story of Jacob's daughter Dina. It is remarkable because, so long ago, her brothers did not 'honor-kill' her. They believed her, for they zeroed in on the correct target - the rapist.

Again: in the case of David's daughter Tamar, raped by her half-brother Amnon - her full brother Absalom BELIEVED HER; and sided with his sister, AGAINST his half-brother Amnon who had done the deed (in modern Arab Muslim society, that could never happen - the brother would side with the rapist brother to murder the raped sister and 'cover up' the shame).

So both those ancient Hebrew stories fulfil two of the things you lay out as a requirement for healing - that the victim be believed by those close to her; that the perpetrator,if at all possible, be called to account, and punished.

Final note: your challenge to us women, to learn to defend ourselves, is very apposite. I confess that at 44, with 2 daughters (14 and 10 yrs old) I have not done this. Thank you for the warning and reminder!
