Maryam Namazie, the Muslim feminist founder of “One Law for All,” a group which opposes Shari’a law has just posted a report, images, and a video of her rally in London HERE.
I especially loved her placards: “End Racism and Cultural Relativism,” “Sharia Law Discriminates Against Women,” “Equal Rights for All,” and “No to Sexual Apartheid.” Judging by the images, the rally and the conference were attended by both men and women, and by Muslims, ex-Muslims, and non-Muslims. I loved the fact that Namazie described the rally as an “anti-racist rally against Sharia and religious-based laws in Britain and elsewhere.” An inspired touch.
Even more, I loved the fact that there was no violence, no threatened violence, and no signs demonizing either America or Israel; absolutely no scapegoats or diversions from the issue at hand.
Namazie’s rally and public meeting featured speakers from the Southall Black Sisters and Women Against Fundamentalism; the Central Council of Equal Rights Now–Organization against Women’s Discrimination in Iran; Democratic Muslims; British Muslims for Secular Democracy; One Law For All; and many other groups and speakers including Kenan Malik, Naser Khader, A.C. Grayling, Terry Sanderson, Sohaila Sharifi, Yasmin Alibhai-Brown, etc.
I wonder what these folks might have to say about honor killings in general and about the Buffalo beheading in particular, a gruesome incident, which has seen so much newsprint as of late. (NOW New York State President, Marcia Pappas, has just again been attacked, this time by a coalition of domestic violence workers, for having called the Buffalo crime an “honor murder” and for having related it to Islam; that will be the subject of a future blog).
Imagine: Muslim-American organizations, feminists, and domestic violence activists are now all insisting that “domestic violence” is the same as “femicide,” that a beating is the same as a beheading, and that there is no advantage, only a disadvantage, in looking at the special needs of different victims-of-violence.
A shelter for battered Muslim women who have escaped femicide, might require different skills than one for Orthodox Jewish, Catholic, and Protestant women. For example, they might require a halal kitchen, social workers who can speak Arabic, Farsi, Pashto, Hindi, Urdu, and Kurdish for starters; mullahs and imams who have already begun the work of campaigning against domestic violence and against femicide/honor killing to counsel the women; law enforcement ties that understand that such victims, as opposed to victims of other cultures and other faiths, may require the equivalent of a federal witness protection program.
Let me end by quoting Namazie: “We won’t stand idly by whilst the British government relegates a huge segment of our society to sham courts and regressive rules and appeases the Islamists here or elsewhere. We will bring the political Islamist movement to its knees in Britain.”

1. Alfredo:The essence of this protest is the statement “Sharia Law Discriminate Against Women”. It summarizes the main problem of Sharia Law, which is indeed a cult of death, a misogynistic debacle that inflict outrageous pain on women in the form of female circumcision, honor killings, and constant beatings in many Muslim countries (and then some).
The people of the US are yet to know the depths of abjection, the tremendous cruelty inflicted on women under Sharia Law. Alas, the backwardness of the Arabs and many other Muslim lands, their lagging behind the West, their barbarity, is a payment, a Karmic debt, from this huge barbarism. They will never advance as long as they treat women like that.
On thing: Sharia Law is totally the opposite, the shadow of the light, of the statement in the US Declaration of Independence: “We hold these Truths to be self-evident, that all Men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable Rights, that among these are Life, Liberty and the pursuit of Happiness.” That’s exactly why the Islamists hate America and that smaller mirror called Israel.

Judy, NYC:it takes so much courage to speak out against these barbaric, monstrous people. i commend Namazie and all involved. the british have a lot to answer for by allowing this islamization of their culture and the nasty brutish brainless jew hating, women hating mobs to bring them to their knees. i hope seeing and hearing this brave person will shame them into standing up. the whole world is watching.

The reason is that the UK has effectively outlawed any and all forms of personal self-defense. That provides and environment in which evil can run amok in more ways than one.
Until they correct that, I fear England is rather useless.

Let’s see, in addition to allocating financial and other resources to self-protection from Islamic jihad already vested in America, Great Britain, France, Europe, Scandinavia are we now additionally required to cater to Islamic women victims of their own people? Is there an assumption that once helped, we in turn will find among them less likelihood to engage in the Islamization of our democracy here and abroad?
Is there enough hue and cry over the victims of Islamic jihad financed by Islamic States sponsoring terrorism whose schemes and means of using non-Islamic resources, non-Islamic financial infrastructure for such enterprises on foreign soil no less the United States?
Our priorities is to rid ourselves of such elements that have infiltrated and ensconced on non-Islamic soil bringing their barbaric practices and behaviors with it while inciting against democracy, normalizing anti-Semitism used as a smoke screen for all the other evils perpetrated in the name of Islam.
Fed up with the victimization cudgel exploited for nefarious purposes.
We must not cater to the barbarians.
Let those among them stand up to the evils of their own people lest we become its enablers. Infiltration from an abhorrent ideology using religion as a beard to cover its ultimate aim is the issue.
Our largess as a democracy, as humanitarians whose hearts go out to victims must not become yet another ladder to those rising from the East to destroy civilization.
All ports of entry for those whose deign is to do evil should be scrutinized especially so our humanity.

In other words to grow an intolerance to the intolerable happening in our midst.
Precisely to keep such barbarity from “normalizing” through an integration process of what in fact seeks to displace the moral underpinnings of civilization.

If memory serves I think the Meir phrase was more or less “Peace will come to the Middle East when the Arabs love their children more than they hate us” — us being the Jews of Israel, or perhaps the Jews in general.
I have to say that as skeptical as I am of Namazie, I enjoy and approve of her optimism. It takes that sort of spirit to succeed in a great work.
I am quite sure that if the women of the mohammedan block decided to civilize their men and bring their culture into the modern age, they certainly would be able to do so.
I expect however that Namazie will be running into some pretty fierce opposition from her veiled sisters.
We’ll see. I’d very much like to have some grounds for hope.
As matters stand now, I see no recourse but the exercise of massive destructive force.
Hope is much to be preferred, if possible.
