Boris Wins! And so does London.

Good news for London! Its next mayor is not a left-wing lunatic! Congratulations to Boris Johnson. former editor of The Spectator, who just beat “Red Ken” Livingston in the race for mayor of London. Mr. Johnson is the first conservative mayor of London in 30 years and probably the first ever who is both a classical scholar and a passable double for Bertie Wooster. Good news all around: Less Ken, more Boris! More here from the BBC.

This is wonderful news. One can hope that the British people are finally fed up with those politicians unwilling to confront Islamic radicalism. Perhaps our own voters might send substantially the same message in November.

Excellent news. Does this mean the supremacist uber mosque at the olympic site is for the chop?

Let us hope so. Boris isn’t exactly brimming over with experience at managing large, complex organizations with refractory employees. I expect Red Ken and his predecessors have left the government of Metropolitan London full of left-wing radicals, cranks, and crooks; it’s the lefty MO. They are likely to try to sabotage anything Boris does.

If he tries to do much. I always got the impression that Boris was a bit of a wet. Well it’s up to the Brits. Make your choices and live with them. I do hope Boris can summon up the backbone to oppose the jihadists, whether violent ones or insinuating ones (the synergy of these two groups is their version of “nice cop, mean cop”). Much of the rest of Britain seems to be silently surrendering. Of course much of our own government seems to be also. Feh.

I would like to thank the people of Britain for reminding me that British pluck, energy and will are not dead
Congrats to Boris.

Good. Maybe this foretells the growth of a British spine.

‘Bout time.
