Actually, a bewildered Kael never said any such thing. She was once quoted as saying that she lived in a strange corner of the world, because no one she knew voted for Nixon. Kind of the opposite meaning from what you implied. (In fact, Kael had little use for dogmatists and sentimentalists of either the left-wing or right-wing type, but given that she liked to bite the hand which fed her, it was usually the former she went after).

Of course, that inaccuracy is the least of your problems at this point. How’s that egg on your face treating you?

Sigh. The Kael quote has been repeatedly debunked as being apocryphal. Here’s the Wikipedia entry (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pauline_Kael#Nixon_.22quote.22):

Kael is frequently quoted as having said, in the wake of Richard Nixon’s landslide victory in the 1972 presidential election, that she “couldn’t believe Nixon had won,” since no one she knew had voted for him. The quote is sometimes cited by conservatives (such as Bernard Goldberg, in his book Bias), as an example of allegedly clueless New York liberal insularity. There are variations as to the exact wording, the speaker (it has variously been attributed to other liberal women, including Katharine Graham, Susan Sontag, and Joan Didion), and the timing (in addition to Nixon’s victory, it has been claimed to have been uttered after Ronald Reagan’s re-election in 1984.)

There is, in fact, no record of Kael making such a remark. The story may have originated in a December 28, 1972 New York Times article on a lecture Kael gave at the Modern Language Association, in which the newspaper quoted her as saying, “I live in a rather special world. I only know one person who voted for Nixon. Where they are I don’t know. They’re outside my ken. But sometimes when I’m in a theater I can feel them.”

…and BTW- “I PUT it on e-bay” were the exact words from Palin, in regard to the sale of the airplane. It’s common knowledge that McCain is not computer savvy, so it’s quite understandable that he would have used the word “sold” on e-bay instead of “put”. Either way, the outcome was the same. Palin SOLD the plane & GAVE THE MONEY BACK TO THE PEOPLE!… And what are the dems complaining about?

As a pro-lifer & AND a single woman who chose life her first child, I am appalled that anyone could vote to refuse medical care to a LIVE baby that has been aborted, yet survived. THAT is exactly what Obama voted for. Refusing medical attention to a living innocent baby. SHAME, SHAME, SHAME!
If I cannot trust a person to protect an innocent baby, HOW can I trust him to protect a corrupt nation?
