Oops… forgot the stats…

I have been reminded I did not post the August stats for this site. They are:

Average daily visitors: 12,521
Total monthly visitors: 388,163
Total monthly hits: 14,373,360 (whew!)

All up over 400% from a year ago. September stats are already up another significant amount.

Total countries: 111 Up only slightly. Perhaps that area is plateauing. East Timor remains absent (come back!)

I’m two of those countries without leaving NYC. My work IP will resolve as France. A lot of less wired countries will come in as something different I bet.

This has nothing to do with statistics but here’s a screenplay to be considered:

“Akron. Shit. I’m still only in Akron. Every time I think I’m going to wake up back in the jungle. When I was home after my first tour, it was worse. I’d wake up and there’d be nothing… I hardly said a word to my first wife until I said yes to a divorce. When I was here I wanted to be there. When I was there, all I could think of was getting back into the jungle. I’ve been here a week now. Waiting for a mission, getting softer. Every minute I stay in this room I get weaker. And every minute Bush gets stronger. Each time I look around the walls move in a little tighter.”

Well, hell, Roger, 111 countries?

How many countries are there?

Fabulous stats, Roger–and I notice there are more lurkers coming on line to contribute–and I am also gratified at the number of female participants that show up here. A wonderful blog, and the class of the internet.

Roger:

Congratulations on the fantastic results. It is a tribute to your writing skill and your ability to attract a wide variety of intelligent contributers. But you must know that your blog hobby will never be able to compete with the MSM as a place where people turn to to get some of their news and opinions on the news. How can you compete with, lets say for argument sake, CBS news. All you have is your wit and the collective wisdom of millions of varied people from all walks of life with a variety of knowledge on virtually any topic. Dan Rather has a crew of specially trained journalists and fact checkers who objectively feret out frauds , rumours and forgeries and produce nothing but pure news. Why would anyone turn to your site, where anything can be printed, instead of the respected network of Cronkite and Murrow. They carefully check every fact, objectively of course, and then Rather , with his years of hard news expierence, seperates the wheat from the chaffe and gives us the unvarnished truth. So you go ahead and play at being a blogger, I’ll stick with those J-school grads at CBS.

sigh, I knew him when.

It’s kinda nifty having seen Roger and Sarah (over at trying to grok) become such heavy hitters in the blogging world. Thing I like the most is the things they have to say and how they present them (whether I agree or not). That’s a big part of it, another part is not just having something to say but saying it daily.

Congratulations Roger, keep the faith and keep on truckin’

Well deserved. Integrity always matters.

Geeze, Roger, before you go getting all swell-headed about a 400% increase year-over-year, I’ll bet that guy running the IBM Typewriter Museum site got a 400,000% increase just yesterday.
