That was a terrific FOXnews piece, and well timed. The program opened with footage of Kerry emphasizing the importance of the UN - in other words it opened with a laugh.

But I really savored the Denis Halliday interviews. As far as I know this was the first American program ever to take this former "oil-for-food" program director to task for his fatuous anti-Americanisms, other than when Claudia Rosett eviscerated him on the Charlie Rose show a few months back.

Halliday resigned his position in late 1998, months after Savan signed on and, according to Rosett, after serious irregularities in the program were becoming evident. Wouldn't I love to know what he knows, our Quaker Irishman (more sanctimonious than the sanctimonious).

For anyone interested, other Irish names come up in the scandal including the former Irish PM Albert Reynolds, among others. So much to be unearthed there but probably only after we get to the documents. Here's for starters:

Chuck,

Thanks for the comments. Check this link out re the Blogosphere. I agree it's still in its infancy. The Blogosphere for now needs a conduit in the MSM to bring these stories to the American people.

The President will be speaking at the U.N. in a few days.

I'd love to hear UNSCUM mentioned. I'd like him to tear the U.N. a new hole and then invite Kofi Annan to exit the building through it.

Any other politician on the planet I wouldn't consider the possibility for longer than the thought took to come and go - but not with this president.

Our world is going to change radically in the next few years. The U.N. is a support system for corrupt hacks. If we are going to go to the trouble to drain swamps over there, we need to make a running start now at the East River Hilton.

With the oil-for-food spigot turned off, it appears Chirac is at it again, looking to replace his lost income. Read this:

http://www.channelnewsasia.com/stories/afp_world/view/107409/1/.html

The proposal is to tax nations in order to create a fund, ostensibly to fight poverty, and administered by ... oh, you can figger it out for yourself,

Any guesses how it would turn out?

The Oil-for-food charade, in essence, reveals what the real policy of the UN was, namely to enable "stability" for the continued presence of Saddam (and make a few bucks on the side). The US would feel it was containing Saddam (i.e., appearances & feelings being priority number one for the Clintonistas), the Euroweenies would avoid any "real" consequences & develop oil contracts with Saddam and the UN would appear tough & coddle a dictator. Follow the trail, Claudia.

However, we are seeing a similar faux policy with regard to European dealings with Iran. Perhaps, Britain is sincere (and Jack Straw is merely stupid) but France & Germany must have a policy that Iran go nuclear in order to stop the Yanks from threatneing precious "stability." France & Germany desiring to allow Iran to go nuclear would at least explain their behavior. Nothing else seems to.

Someone should be following through on this. Hello, Washington Post!... I've given up on the NYT. [Why don't you do it yourself?-ed. I should. It's about time bloggers did things like this..]--Roger

I think that you should do something on this.Of course the 'how-to' is a triffle unclear.Since FOX is one of the few outlets seemingly interested in this story, perhaps they might be a source of information that they could not run with for any variety of reasons.

The unfortunate fact is that even if you were independently wealthy enough to do NOTHING but this, the network of contacts required is simply prohibitive. But stories like this really need a dedicated hand at the controls to ensure that the truth not only comes out but is broadcast to the world.

Ron,

Have you noticed that the vast majority of the news still comes from the MSM? I wish we could support reporters, but we don't. The closest we have are folks blogging on local events, like the Iraqi and Mil bloggers. What the blogosphere mostly adds are aggregators (instapundit) and commentary (Roger). Rathergate was indeed a good example of blogosphere research, but again it was a reaction to a (bogus) MSM story.

Roger,

If you are going to try that, why not float a proposal for a new Moses novel covering it? Moses on the trail of ??? Might as well get a publisher to front some dough for it.

I'm only kind of kidding about that. There are any number of people who would be willing to some research bits for you. I'd be happy to work on the Swiss/Italian bit for expenses only.

AMEN to that Mr. Simon!

The MSN is no longer a relevant source of news. It's up to the Blogosphere to report the objective news of the day.

Here some other stories that deserve an airing. The Oil for Food money probably filtered into the hands of al-Qaeda. Didn't see the show and don't know if they went into this.

Also deserving more air time is the Mad Mullahs of Iran going nuclear soon and believe it's OK to hand a 16 year-old girl.

Further IRAQ's WMD flowed into Northern Syrian and the Beka Valley before the war. Saddam was in a conspiracy with North Korea and Libya to make nukes in the tunnels in Libya. The source of this story is John Loftus. Just run google search on him with "+nuclear" for the links.
