Chevy Chase

Is he on Karl Rove’s payroll too? [Well, you haven't seen him in too many movies lately.-ed. You've got a point there.]

Either that or he wants to start a faternity of SNL has-beens with Al Franken.

But Chase credit…doing it at the Kennedy Center ensures it being a stealth attack.

sheesh. franken light.

-oops, just noticed your FIRST, DTP–

what’s amazing is that this schmuck makes you pine for the tact, grace, and nuance of franken.

GOOD LORD!!!!!!!(Shakes head slowly.)

Given the content of most of Chase’s movies I find it odd that he’d be accusing somebody else of being stupid. I mean, without stupid people he wouldn’t have had a career.

True Hollywood Story* ó Screenwriter William Goldman was brought in to meet Chevy Chase to discuss, do not ask me why, writing a “Vacation” script.

Five minutes into the conversation, Goldman announces, “I am too old and too rich to put up with this shit,” and walks out the door.

*True Hollywood Story = “Once Upon A Time” and “No shit, there I was…”

This happened at a gathering of the hard-left “People for the American Way”?

Surprise meter: zero.

The People for the American Way prefer to be perceived as moderates (we can argue whether they truly are another time). The last thing this organization needed was for Chevy Chase to act like a fool. He literally turned the evening into a public relations disaster. Iím sure that the organizers now wish the event were never held.

Chevy Chase does, alas, indeed make Karl Rove’s life a lot easier. The Republicans are already the majority party. Only the very far left wing of the Democratic Party will appreciate this sort of inappropriate behavior. Mainstream Americans will just continue moving toward the GOP. Will the last person to leave the Democratic Partyís headquarters, please turn off the lights.

Chevy ‘Chases’ the center more to the right. Keep talking, man.

You have to stop and think for a moment how much money was likely raised by this event. Poor people generally cannot afford to attend. Only the very affluent show up. My guess is that the average family income was somewhere is the $250,000 annual range. Iím sure some serious check were written. But now it will cost the organization far more money and effort to undo last nightís damage.

The first time Chase made me laugh at him was when he fell off the stage on SNL 30 years ago.

The second time was today.

Dec 16, 2004 - 7:11 am 12. PDS:

In Caddyshack, Mr. Chase uttered the now immortal line that “the world needs ditch diggers too, Danny,” and now he is proving it. Life does indeed imitate art.

His skills as a political commentator are every bit as good as his skills as a talk show host.

If Chevy Chase, Al Franken, Whoopi Goldberg, et al, were in their twenties, their near-pervasive use of profanity would be understandable, although still disgusting. Chevy Chase, however, is sixty-one years old. Al Franken is fifty-three. Whoopi Goldberg is fifty-four. It’s not an original observation on my part that they, like so many on the left, have never grown up, but I think that it bears repeating.

**SCHADENFREUDE ALERT**

I love all of this bitterness from the left.

(A la Nelson) Ha ha!

OR….

(A la the nut from Happy Gilmore) You suck, ya jackass!

National Lampoon’s Political Party”?

By the way,did the Democrats get a job lot of Botox off the back of a truck? Why this undignified quest for eternal youth?

I don’t think it attracts young supporters, when I was young,we didn’t want politicians who hung out in the same coffee bars as me,who spoke the same way, with all our youthful rebelliousness we wanted someone with gravitas.

(To be accurate, it was Judge Smails (Ted Knight) who offered up the ditchdigger observation.)

Clark Griswold is the patron saint of anyone who has ever taken a family vacation; I know my clan has never been on one without at least one Griswoldian moment. It’s a shame to see CC associate himself with others of the LLL persuasion.

Maybe Chevy should put in an application at Al Jazeera ;)

Dec 16, 2004 - 12:27 pm 19. Wallace:

The Republican Party cannot buy better advertising. Probably the likes of Chevy Chase can’t understand that and will keep right on with their liberal ego trips thus turning more states RED.

I am with Coisty on this one.
