No, it’s not nearly as bad as Sri Lanka, obviously, or even Europe, but it’s been raining pretty hard in Southern California lately, seemingly without stop.
And, no, this is not my house. We’re still here, despite the local monsoons, which are the worst I’ve seen since the Seventies when I remember cars washing down Laurel Canyon to Sunset Boulevard, practically to the late-lamented Schwab’s Coffee Shop. Several rooms of my mother-in-law’s house in Sherman Oaks–that’s “The Valley” to you outliers–are presently flooded. Moon Unit Zappa jokes are not appreciated.

Please feel free to send the rain over to the area east of Phoenix. Our main reservoir is only at 40%.
Meanwhile, thanks to Jimmy Carter and some environmentalists, two water storage dams don’t exist. The result is a lot of water flowing through Phoenix (an unusual occurrence) and ultimately to the Gulf of California.
Meanwhile, the drought, according to the climatologists, still has a decade or more to go. This winter seems to be an El Nino exception to it.

Early 80s, actually. I was around for the El Nino that amde LA look like it was having a “bad hair day.”

As I type things look wet outside, but no sign of precipitation. So I think we’re getting drizzle right now. But last I heard today is supposed to be as bad as yesterday.
For everybody in Arizona, a bit of good news. Namely, it’s heading your way. You sent us some rain back last summer, so we’re returning the favor now.
