1. ShrinkWrapped:To defeat your enemy, it is necessary to understand him. The Jihadists understand our leftist elites all too well. They are the poor, helpless victims of the colonialist oppressors…

Jul 8, 2005 - 2:50 pm 3. PeterUK:This might introduce an element that has so far been missing real fear.Much of the Arab world, whilst it may not have been aiding al Qaeda directly, was certainly holding its coat. They would have no doubt joined the right side had the West gone down.
Jul 8, 2005 - 4:20 pm 4. PJ:I’m sure Zarqawi killed the Egyptian on this particular day to coincide with the London bombings. Maximize your media!
To the honorable Muslims in the West, I say this: If you want to be part of our society, do your part. For instance, start a Muslim association for imams. Every imam has to be vetted and deemed moderate and dedicated to the tenets of the democracy, equality of women, religious pluralism, and the rule of our law above Islam. Sure, the radicals will get angry, it would be tough going, but freedom is not free.
America and Britain are not boarding houses–stop crying wolf, stop hiding behind CAIR, and do your part.

Reuters has company. The L.A. Times in a under the fold front page story repeats the “fear of backlash” story. Of all the possible stories they could have put on the front page to be an accompanion peice to the main front pge story, the first responders, the glorius response of the people, the resolute statements of the political leaders, the LAT decided the most important story it’s readers should take in was the possible backlash towards the Muslim community. The story, by Vangra McWalters, begins in a weird, possibly Jason blairish tone. Here are the first two paragraphs, the italics are mine-
London- “The Muslim business who tend the east End textile shops went home early. So did the vendors at the Whitechapel Market after police swooped down on suspicious garbage bags.(Oh, those racist profiling coppers!)”
Down the street, a group of Muslim women and children edged nervously past a muscle bound white youth(of course we must introduce the racist white male into the story to achieve racial outrage balance), who was shouting into his cellphone, “Yeah, mate, where I am, everyone looks like an Al Queda terrorist.”
The rest of the story is a PC fogstorm that pretends there are only a handful of British Arab Muslims who actively or emotionaly support the more radical wing of Islamo fascists. After spending half the story telling the glories of the London muslim community she admits that some trained in the ME to join Al Queda, although even there she tries to say the only went to Bosnia and Chechnya, you know, the good Muslim battles. She then spends a brief time mentioning the protest at the US Embassy where British Muslim citizens chanted these bon mots. “Kill George Bush”,”Bomb New York”, and the instant classic “UK you will pay-Zarqawi is on his way”.
I am not in favor of any racist muslim pogrom in Britain or in America. I also know there are many noble Muslims. But the fact that the Times felt the need to feature a imagined Muslim backlash, which I think will not happen just as it did not happen after 9-11, instead of the real stories of heroism and joyous resolutness of all Londoners, whatever race or color, is another sign of the PC agenda journalism that creates the lack of respect for this craft.

Jul 8, 2005 - 5:05 pm 6. rickl:They SHOULD be worried about a backlash. No, I’m not advocating a racist pogrom, but it’s also high time that we discard political correctness to the ash-heap of history.
We are in a world war against Islamofascism. Our leaders keep evading this fact and call it a “war on terror”.
What kind of smarmy nonsense is that? Did we declare “war on dive bombers” after Pearl Harbor?!?!?
We are at war. It’s time to take the gloves off. In my opinion, any Musllim cleric who preaches jihad against the West should be regarded as an enemy and should be summarily executed. Any Muslim who cheers terrorist attacks should likewise be killed. WE ARE AT WAR! THEY ARE THE ENEMY! In war you KILL THE ENEMY.
The government needs to get up to speed here. If they don’t and if there is ever another 9/11-scale attack on America, I predict that there will be Muslims hanging from lampposts from sea to shining sea. I’m not saying that’s a good thing, I’m just predicting it. The main function of government is to protect the people. If they can’t or won’t do that, then the people have the right and the responsibility to provide for their own self-defense.
And not only Muslims–also the leftist moonbats who aid and abet them. It will get real ugly real quick, I guarantee it. And our government had better lead or get out of the way. If the government starts prosecuting patriotic citizens for “hate crimes”, then there will be a revolution, and possibly a second civil war.
America is increasingly looking like a powder keg to me.
Jul 8, 2005 - 6:35 pm 7. Kyda Sylvester:“The criminals wanted by this act to terrorize Arab and Islamic countries and deter them from upgrading their diplomatic missions in Iraq,” the Iraqi Foreign Ministry said in its statement on the killing of Mr. Sharif…
Seems to have worked.
What kind of security arrangements does Zalmay Khalilzad have? Can’t they be duplicated at other missions?
I wish I could say this comes as a surprise.
Jul 8, 2005 - 7:54 pm 8. ElCid:“Arabs fear backlash after London bombings”
No really?
“Here’s someplace they could start”
Here’s another one or two places…with a third for a kicker.
Firstly, denounce in words and through action, eliminate the islamapsychopaths of Muslimdom.
Secondly, stop funding them, or else.
Thirdly, in lieu of numbers one and two, not being implemtented, people with a functioning brain and having the capacity to use that brain, release the hounds of hell, as Sir Noel Coward expressed it ?Mad Dogs and Englishman?, The U.S. can be the “Mad Dogs”.
Jul 8, 2005 - 9:50 pm 9. Kyda Sylvester:something to chew on
Jul 8, 2005 - 10:47 pm 10. ras:They could start by condemning the fatwa against Salman Rushdie, cuz if you think free speech deserves the deth penalty, then the West is not the right culture for you, in any religion.
Jul 9, 2005 - 1:01 am 11. PeterUK:Mainstream Islam shares the same goals as the Islamists,if not the means. This is where the problem lies, one is the Umma the other the Calphate, but if either succeeds,it is the will of God.
Jul 9, 2005 - 4:25 am 12. PJ:You know, I just read again Enoch Powell’s anti-immigrant speech from 1968, and I do think he’s a racist, but his predictions of a 10-percent immigrant population, thier privileged status, and bloody strife by now have largely come true.
