I am one of the many holding his breath that the Gaza evacuation will not create too much violence and that history will ultimately approve Ariel Sharon’s decision. While the American media seems obsessed with the usual summer sideshows, Charles Johnson is providing a unique window into what may prove to be one of the more important events (pro or con) in the seemingly endless struggle for a solution to the Middle East crisis. 1. Gerard Van der Leun:A great job as usual. And as usual, Israel’s bending in an effort to secure peace will result only in more war. I suppose that someday there will be a point where Israel will finally come to a place where enough is more than enough, but evidently they are not there just yet. A shame that this sacrifice, like so many before it, will come to naught in the end.

If you would die for Israel (when elected leaders send you off to war) would you not change your address for Israel, when elected leaders send you back inside the 1967 border? Naturally, the Palestinian terrorists will take all the credit for driving the settlers out. What else is new? They take credit for driving the polar bears out of Gaza, no doubt.

The fence did not exist years ago. This barrier between Israel and its Palestinian neighbors makes all the difference. I am cautiously optimistic concerning the pullout. The main thing is that President Bush remains staunchly loyal to Israel. He will support Sharonís need retaliate whenever it is deemed necessary. No, I like the fact that Israel will no longer have to spend enormous funds and efforts to protect the settlers.

I too wonder why they keep him around—�all of the other HuffPo posters march in looneytoon lockstep, with their prime motivating factor seeming to be BDS. There are no thoughtful, dissenting liberals at that website.
And I seem to have been banned from commenting there. Pretty exciting for this little housewife. I’ve never been banned before, and I didn’t even cuss or anything.
