Sayonara

This blog is signing off for a while. My next blogs will be from Tokyo tomorrow night their time (eighteen hours ahead of Pacific). Sheryl, Madeleine and I are excited, but it’s no big deal in this modern world. After all, we’re going some place as up-to-date as we are, probably more so, where we can drink the water… at least most of it.

I was under the impression that Tokyo was normally 17 hours ahead of Los Angeles, but since we have Daylight Saving Time and they don’t, the difference would, as of now, be 16 hours.

Vis-a-vis up-to-date…a friend of mine, when asked what Japan was like, responded that if the U.S. is a first world country, then Tokyo was a zeroth world country. I’ve wanted to go ever since and have never had the time. Perhaps it’s time to make time.

Senescence has its surprises. I meant Japan, not Tokyo.

Tokyo is different. English is spoken and there is some help in the subways and trains, but if you don’t have an interpreter, you can’t even read a street sign. Hard to talk to cabbies, but your concierge can write you a note to give to them. Particularly useful to carry a note saying where you are staying so you can get back.

Tokyo is a very safe city where even barmaids walk home alone at 4AM.

If you’re staying in a first class hotel i.e. the Okura, Palace, etc. you’ll have all the help you need, it’s just if you decide to wander around on your own you’ll find it aint Paris, Rome, or Berlin.

Have a wonderful trip and we’ll be waiting to hear from you.

Well, Roger, fish is supposed to be good for brain, except when is full of mercuryƖ

Ah, forget it, have a great time!

In the meantime, anybody thinks we could push this thread to 300?

(And maybe we finally will get Pervieww? Rick is about to sign a lease on a Predator drone, so between that, Ghurkas, Osama’s goat and Taliban, we may be able to finally grab the bastard)
