Grouchy old wolverine?

I have to admit I’ve been troubled by some of her past statements about transgendered people – but perhaps I am not understanding Tammy’s attitudes correctly.

Funny how people’s pre-conceived ideas about politics sometimes clash with reality. As it happens, the very first Republican student I met at the college I’m attending was a male-to-female transsexual.

Anyway, congratulations to Tammy on joining Pajamas. I’ll be following her new blog with great interest.

I don’t think so. Reading her blog was deja vu all over again. Maybe a liberal circa 1990–95, about when she was getting ready to bail. In other words, of recent vintage. I think of David Hume, Adam Smith, and others of the Scottish Enlightenment as classic liberals. The founding fathers were of this tradition. Classic progressive might be a better category for Bruce, encompassing such diverse people as Teddy Roosevelt and La Follette back at the beginning of the last century.

Welcome to this extended … tribe. Most are stable mature adults, with a few ‘interesting’ types (hi there), and Lair (Laurence Simon). Think of Lair as a grouchy old wolverine in need of an afternoon nap.

Been a big fan of hers since I read “The New Thought Police.”

It really is amazing how side that self-proclaims to be the “progressive,” “inclusive,” “tolerant” ones in this country, can treat someone who differs in their views.

I guess tolerance is all well and good until someone actually challenges you on your thinking (or more accurately challenging their faith.)
