The motivation for the behavior of Congressman John Murtha – leaking information about the actions of Marines in Haditha before the servicemen had a chance to defend themselves or before anyone knows what really happened – has now become painfully obvious.

1. David Thomson:Did Karl Rove slip John Murtha a few dollars under the table? It is highly unlikely that the Democrats will regain control of the House. Murthaís idiotic quest increases the odds against them. He is adored by the Daily Kos crowd. This is the kiss of death for any politician running for office.
Something doesn’t smell right. It is my tentative opinion that the alleged Haditha massacre is merely an attempt to con the United States government out of money. Letís not forget that if anyone convinces our government that the Marines murdered a family member—they are set for life! Am I overly cynical? Well, we will find out. In the meantime, it is foolish to take for granted that the murders actually happened.

Jun 12, 2006 - 11:55 am 7. Herbert92X:A better question will is what will you folks say if he is right. Look, the Marines have already changed their story on this one at least once. Innocent people tend not to change their stories. Murtha is also privy to info that none of us presumably has. And are ALL the sources from the military which lend credence to the masscre allegations false or simply made up?
